Bolt shims question.

I bought some bolt shims for my b14r because why not? They are cheap. Anyways. I have .001 to .005 and have no idea which to start with. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First ever hand loads!

140 eldm, lapua srp, h4350. Ended up with CBTO of +/- .004 on all the rounds measured. So I was pretty happy with that. Ended up going .035 off the lands as .02 was a little heavy on the bolt close. COAL is 2.825. I know powder charge testing isn't really effective until after the third firing but figured I'd step up by .3 until just short of book max. I'll take that data just to practice working with it until I can actually test.

Matchmaster 6.5 seating die question.

For those using one, which position/notch do you have the c clip on the seating plug? Thanks!

Question about fire forming and shoulder bump.

So widely stated that it takes 2-3 firings to fire form brass to the size of your chamber. So I have a couple questions. Does this mean after these first firings you don't want to bump the shoulder of the brass when resizing? Sub question, if that is the case, how do you set up a FL die to not bump the shoulder but to size everything else? My FL dies is set up without a decapping pin and I have it locked in at .002 bump because I was practicing with some old Hornady brass. I have lapua brass that's I'm loading but hasn't been fired yet. Thanks!!!

Primed my lapua's today! Now just waiting for powder to get here!

Please tell me that seating takes a little less force moving forward after they are no longer new. Used an rcbs hand priming tool and damn, my hands were screaming.

Just to ease my OCD mind. Is it really going to matter if I load with Remington 7.5 bench rest primers vs. 450's or 205m?

Lapua brass, h4350, 140 eldm is what I already have. I only ask because that is the last piece to my puzzle and my bass pro only has the Remingtons available. Thanks!

Different brass when setting up dies question.

So my reloading set up is complete. I have lapua brass but have been practicing things with once fired Hornady brass. Such as, trimming, cleaning, decapping, setting up dies etc. I have yet to prime, charge and seat any bullets. I am decapping with a lee, body sizing with an rcbs(I took out the decapping rod), 21st century mandrel for ID and then match master for seating. My question is about sizing with the Rcbs. How much different will things be when I run lapua brass? I have it set up for .002 shoulder bump using the Hornady brass. Will that hold or should I start over when I start to size the lapua? Thanks!!

Sizing my first cases and don't want to get one stuck..

So I just got my rcbs 6.5 duo set. I removed the decapping pin because I'm decapping and using a mandrel for ID in separate steps. I set up the FL die to just touch the shell holder as I'm going to use cortinas method for getting .002 shoulder bump. I have once fired Hornady brass that I'm going to practice with. The brass has been decapped and cleaned. Anyways. I gave my first case a coating of imperial sizing die, ran it up the die and it got to a point where I was using a lot of force and stopped because it didn't want to go any further. The picture is as far as I felt comfortable with. So what am I doing wrong here?? Thanks!

When do you start doing charge weight load development with new brass?

I'm reading it's not worth trying until new brass is fully fire formed. So if that's the case what charger weight do you roll with the first couple firings on new brass? I have lapua srp brass, h4350, and probably going to start with 140 eldms for my 6.5. thanks!

Does anyone load "cheaper" practice ammo?

Just getting started here. 6.5 Creed. Have lapua brass, h4350, 142 smks. Before I get started with those I plan to practice with the 300 pieces of Hornady brass I have. Already decapped and cleaned. My dies will be here tomorrow so I'm going to work on sizing/trimming/measuring. I thought maybe I should just complete the process(powder and seating) with "cheaper" components and do a powder test the first time out. This will allow me to feel comfortable with the process before loading up my "expensive" stuff. So anyways, what powder/bullets/primers should I roll with? Not gonna get my shorts in a twist if the groups suck. I am really enjoying everything I've done so far and just want to learn while doing. Thanks!

Expander mandrel question.

Just want to get it right. If I'm loading 6.5 and brass has .001 spring back and I want to start with standard .002 next tension should I go .003 under for the mandrel? I don't plan on playing with next tension right away. Just need the right starting point. Thanks!

Getting closer to starting!

Sweat my ass off today in the Florida heat finishing up the bench and getting the press mounted. Had a set back and had to notch the back side of the front 2 x 4 to get the nuts in the carriage bolts. Learned a lot from the first go and if I ever do it again at least I know what not to do! Also my kids got me the sign for Father's Day because they are scared I'm going to blow the house up. Ha!

Finally applied my 9th grade wood shop skills!

She's a bit wobbly but it'll be alright when I bracket it to the wall in the garage.

So these are the best boneless chops. Can someone explain....

What cut is this to where you get that darker pink meat? Is it one end of the muscle? Most boneless chops I see aren't like this but every now and again I find them. Thanks!

I am building a basic small bench. 28 x 24 inches. The frame will be all 2 x 4. Dumb question, what would should I use for the top? Going to mount my rocker chucker to it. Thanks!

Going to L bracket it to my garage wall. Thanks!
