I got a new car a couple weeks ago (2026 Subaru Outback), and as one of my many personalizations to my new chariot, I added a lil’ wildcat to keep me safe on the road.
My husband calls him “Ogato” (Ogata + gato, Spanish for cat), and it’s honestly perfect.
Today (Wednesday 7/1/26) is the first day I can use my new Hobonichi Techo A5 Cousin planner!
This is my first Hobonichi planner, and I'm still trying to get a feel for how I want to format things. To kick off the first day, I figured I should include my favorite emo drama queen, Ogata. Angsty little babygirl. 😌
If I’m going to have a fibromyalgia flare up on a Sunday afternoon, then at least I can veg on the couch with cutest little doctor to take care of me. 🥰

So, I found out yesterday that in addition to getting a 2.5% pay increase beginning with the new school year in August, I’m also receiving a one-time 15% stipend based on my my current (base) salary that will be paid out on my next paycheck. I don’t want to go into too much detail, but before taxes we’re talking about $13,000 (USD).
A third is going toward a new car I was planning on leasing anyways. The next third is going into travel savings for a Japan trip (Tohoku + Hokkaido). My husband and I planning for next year. The last third I was going to have for “fun money” over the next couple of months.
Well, I’m 4 work days away from summer break, and I needed an edible (or 4) to help calm my teacher nerves tonight (I haven’t been sleeping well this week). I thought, “Well…It is the end of the school year, so I should get myself a little treat to celebrate.”
I cannot be trusted. By the end of my eBay shopping spree, I had to make the walk of shame into my husband’s office and apologize to him for becoming a fujoshi. I’ve never bought doujinshi before but there’s a first time for everything.
I hope Noda-sensei knows that there is some weird-ass, middle-aged white woman in California who adores his work. I have two other Golden Kamuy eBay hauls arriving next week. My appetite for peak cannot be sated. 😌
We’ve had Skitty for a little over 5 years now. Her previous family of 9 years rehomed own for being nippy (like most conures), and while she has definitely given me and my husband some good chomps, she is a love bug at heart.

I just purchased an Avec Book 2 July-December 2026 planner in A5. This will be my first Hobonichi planner! I'm anticipating switching from my current journaling/planner brand (Paper Republic) to using the Hobonich A5 Cousin products moving forward.
What I'd like to do is find a good A5 Cousin cover (does not need to be Hobonichi brand - lots of theirs are sold out anyways) that is designed to hold 2 full-sized books in it. For example, a full-year A5 Cousin planner and an A5 Hobonichi Lined Notebook.
I've seen a ton of options on Etsy, but want to see what other suggestions people have for covers that can hold two A5 notebooks. An extra bonus would be a cover that has pockets on the insides for things like sticker storage.

I have been journaling for the past few years (using Paper Republic products), but am planning on making the switch to Hobonichi once the 2027 products are available to order in a few months.
Something I've thought about for a while is getting a small sticker printer (black and white) so I can print out small manga panels/character faces to use in my planner.
I know there are a ton of options, but wanted to get some feedback on what experienced journal users prefer.

I’m a high school English teacher who works for a fully-online independent study program. I’ve been working from home for just over 8 years now, and considering I spend the bulk of my waking hours in my home office, I’ve tried to make it as cozy as possible.
