Some of my favorite load outs use the backpack slot (RR, BFGL, Supply Pack etc), but sometimes I could really use a little extra firepower. Even just a few shots to keep the chafe off me while I line up a RR shot.
Presenting: the Expendable Guard Dog. It drops in, you activate it and it follows you around just like a normal GD but no backpack. It last for 1 magazine, can’t be put away or reloaded. Once that magazine is emptied it drops to the ground (or maybe flies to the nearest enemy and explodes?)

As a diehard UC citizen, my biggest gripe is the absolute dogshit systems they claimed. Alpha Centauri is great, Sol is a dead system with nothing but nostalgia, and Wolf is literally a run down space station.
If we could start our own I think I’d take Tau Ceti, Eridani, and Cassiopeia. Plenty of habitable worlds, huge mineral variety, all relatively close to each other.
