Frage im Titel. Ich finde Großkatzen faszinierend, und finde es furchtbar, dass sie von Menschen mehr und mehr gejagt oder vertrieben werden.

Mich würde interessieren, ob es für Laien ethische Optionen gibt, die über bloßes Spenden hinausgehen, wie man diesen Tieren etwas Gutes tun kann. In Tierschutzzentren in Deutschland scheinen in der Regel nur ausgebildete Tierpfleger gesucht zu werden, was ich bis jetzt gesehen habe. Macht ja auch Sinn, wir haben hier im Land vermutlich dutzende Tierpfleger auf jede Großkatze, von denen bestimmt viele gerne so einen Job machen würden. Warum sollte man da also Freiwillige involvieren. Von einem Tierpfleger bin ich als Ingenieur jetzt aber doch eine ganze Ecke weg.

Google spuckt mir dann auch noch diverse Projekte in Afrika aus, bei denen man für ein paar Wochen als Freiwilliger ohne Vorerfahrung mit Geparden etc. arbeitet. Ich finde es aber schwer, ethische Einschätzungen dazu zu finden. Werden hier Menschen und Tiere für Profit ausgenutzt, damit reiche Turis ihr Geld da lassen, um mal die Katzen streicheln zu können? Oder ​wird hier tatsächlich echter Artenschutz betrieben? Oder gibt es noch grundsätzlich andere Möglichkeiten zur Unterstützung dieser Tiere?

Falls das mit den Großkatzen nichts sein sollte (was ich fast schon vermute), wie schaut das denn eigentlich mit Stubentigern in Tierheimen aus? Suchen Tierheime überhaupt noch freiwillige Helfer, die nicht vom Fach sind, oder ist das was, was es nur in Geschichten gibt? Ich wollte immer eine Katze, kann aber sinnvoll keine halten, solange ich alleine Lebe, Vollzeit arbeite und ​​​öfter mal mehrere Tage auf Dienstreise bin. Daher der Gedanke, im Tierheime auszuhelfen. Aber die beiden, die es hier in der Nähe gibt, haben auf ihren Websites zum Thema Unterstützung nur Spendenlinks angegeben. Ist also auch hier tätliche Unterstützung nicht erwünscht?

I'm a bit of a homebody, I do enjoy going out in a group of friends, but I'm not someone for big parties full of people I don't know. I really enjoy fantasy and sci-fi, be that (audio) books (currently His Majesty's Dragon), playing Dungeons and Dragons, or video games like Baldur's Gate 3. I also enjoy playing action-adventure games like Horizon Zero Dawn or Tomb Raider, but also cozy games like Pokemon or Minecraft.

As for other hobbies, I do longsword fencing/HEMA, and when I find the time, spend a day at the airfield flying gliders. I go skiing, too, whenever I get the chance. I also enjoy building lego sets. I have not traveled that much, but I would absolutely love to do it more together with someone!

I also love learning new things about science and engineering! I studied aerospace engineering and now work developing and testing rocket engines, which (excuse the brag) is one of the coolest jobs I could imagine!

I would say I am a caring, emphatic, honest and loyal person. If I commit to something, I stick to it, and don't just abandon it at the first hurdle. I'm good at working through problems, and not afraid to admit if I mess up.

I'm hoping to find someone who shares at least some of my hobbies or interests so we have a common foundation to build on, be that books, gaming or something else. Hey there!

I will be in northern Spain in August, to hopefully see the eclipse, and I just wanted to book a car only to find out that would cost me over 700€ for 6 days. It's literally 1.5 times as expensive as my flights. I was not at all prepared for this.

Does anyone have any advice on how to improve this situation, or am I just screwed? For reference, I am flying to and from Bilbao.

And help would be appreciated!

I have DMed only once before, in a campaign that collapsed about a year ago (for reasons that, the players assure me, were not down to my DMing, but who knows). But I have also played in a few games as a player, and one thing I have noticed somewhat consistently is this:

Players rarely seem to feel engaged by an "exploration mission into the unknown wildlands". Maybe it is just my particular bubble of players I've been with, but whenever the plot did not directly involve their backstory, or at least took place in a pre-established setting they cared about, they did not seem to really engage with the world in the same way and instead just "played along" to get it over with.

Personally, I love this kind of plot, I love seeing weird and dangerous places out in the wilderness, and I am currently feeling some motivation to try DMing again, so I am wondering. Is it possible to run this kind of game successfully, and if so, how? The plot I am currently toying with in my mind would involve something akin to the American frontier/westward expansion, except interplanar, players would start on the material plane and then explore "outward" into increasingly less settled/civilized and more wild and dangerous worlds, on a quest to establish a sort of trade hub in one of the outer planes. (I am not directly using 5e cosmology, so it would work a bit different, but that's the gist.)

I would not want them to be in completely desolate lands where no social interactions take place at all, so I am thinking about having things like forward research stations, a recurring rival group trying to beat them to their goal, and maybe a caravan they can travel with to facilitate the social side of the game even when out in the wilderness.

But I am still worried the players would just see it as a chore to get done instead of an adventure to be on. Last time I tried something similar, all the characters (not players) eventually resented it and just wanted to get back to their own home/family/church etc. Is the issue just expectation management? And what expectations need to be set for players to make characters that actually want to engage with a plot like this? Or would it be advisable to not run a plot that takes the characters away from almost everything they've known at all?

Ich habe mich grade dran erinnert, wie meine Familie früher als ich noch ein Kind/Jugendlicher war, im Sommer nach Italien gefahren ist, so vor 10 Jahren zuletzt. Eins der kleinen Highlights dieser Reise war immer eine bestimmte Sorte Kekse, die es in Deutschland so weit ich weiß nicht gab/gibt.

Die Kekse waren aus einem eher helleren Teig (also kein Kakao) und nicht gefüllt oder mit Schokolade oder so überzogen. Sie waren süß, nicht salzig, und hatten keine Löcher. Ich würde sie auf etwa 5x2 cm schätzen und verpackt waren sie in dicht aneinander gestapelt in Plastik. Das Merkmal, das mir am stärksten in Erinnerung geblieben ist, ist dass die Kekse sehr hart waren, deutlich härter als z.B. Leibniz Butterkekse oder so, wir haben sie damals deswegen immer "Panzerplatten" genannt. Ob es tatsächlich eine italienische Marke war, oder man sie da nur kaufen konnte, weiß ich leider nicht mehr.

Ich weiß dass das recht spärliche Infos sind, aber vielleicht weiß ja zufällig jemand, an welche Kekse ich denken könnte? Danke schon mal!

Hab mich Jahre lang nicht wirklich mit dem Thema Dating beschäftigt, würde das jetzt aber gerne mal angehen. Club/Party ist nicht so meins und meine Hobbys sind überwiegend männlich dominiert. Also wollte ich es trotzdem mal über eine der Apps probieren, auch wenn meine Erwartungen eher niedrig sind.

Problem ist, ich hab kaum Bilder von mir, ich finde mich selbst nicht besonders photogen und wenn ich an einem interessanten Ort bin, photographiere ich lieber den Ort als mich selbst. Welche Bilder sollte man da also so rein packen, und welche eher nicht? Angeln gehe ich schon mal nicht, also vor dem Fisch-Selfie muss mich schon mal keiner warnen lol

Ich hab tatsächlich keine Ahnung, ob die Meinung wirklich unbeliebt ist, aber zumindest sehe ich deutlich mehr Essens-Elitaristen als Leute die sich darüber aufregen.

Ich finde es echt super nervig, wenn Leute sich darüber auslassen, dass irgendjemand "schlechtes Essen" macht, oder wenn jemand stolz sein selbstgemachtes Essen postet, mit so was wie "Da wird mir schon beim Anschauen schlecht, wo ist der nächste Mülleimer" antwortet.

Ich meine damit explizit nicht "objektiv" schlechtes Essen. Also halbgares Hühnchen, oder Salat an dem noch Erde klebt, weil sich jemand nicht die Mühe machen wollte, ihn zu waschen. Und auch Memes wie "Keine Ananas auf Pizza" seien mal explizit ausgenommen.

Aber meiner Erfahrung nach grade Italiener, aber auch genug andere, haben so ein unnormal großen Problem damit, wenn man sich bei der Zubereitung von Gerichten nicht wortwörtlich an das Rezept von 1325 hält, und nicht diese eine besondere Zutat aus dem letzten Alpenkaff benutzt.

Wenn jemand eine "deutsche" Pizza macht, so in rechteckig und mit dickem, luftigen Boden, und sie denjenigen, die sie essen, schmeckt, dann ist das doch fein! Wenn jemand sein Fleisch gerne ganz durch brät und mit Soße isst, weil es ihm so besser schmeckt, lasst ihn doch! Warum muss man sich so über Essen auslassen, das nie für einen gedacht war, nur weil es nicht seinen persönlichen, ultraspezifischen Vorgaben für das perfekte Mahl entspricht? Welchen Kick gibt es dir, den tausendsten immer gleichen Schuhsole-Witz zu machen?

Ich komme mir vor wie der größte Boomer, aber ich halte das echt nicht mehr aus. Ich besuche grade meine Familie, und die Nachbarskinder gegenüber fahren STÄNDIG mit ihren Mofas die Straße rauf und runter, mit 25 in der Spielstraße. Spielen mit dem Gas und knattern alles voll. Oder stehen minutenlang mit laufendem Motor in der Einfahrt. Den. Ganze. Tag. Lang. Gestern, Feiertag? Egal! Mittagsruhe? Egal! Krach! Mein Fenster geht zur Straße raus, aber trotz des schönen Wetters kann ich es nicht öffnen, weil es sich dann so anhört, als wären die Mofas direkt bei mir im Zimmer. Mach, dass es aufhört! Ich bin nur froh, dass ich hier nicht dauerhaft wohne, mehr als die paar Tage würde ich das nicht aushalten.

Der Titel sagt eigentlich schon alles. Warum denken Leute, vor allem auf Reddit, eine Erklärung wäre auch immer gleich eine Rechtfertigung?

Beispiel Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen. Ich schreibe, "Viele fahren oft einfach an den Verkehrsfluss angepasst, auch wenn das mal zu schnell sein sollte." Und dann kann ich Gift drauf nehmen, dass eine der ersten Antworten sein wird, "Und weil es alle machen, ist es jetzt okay das Gesetz zu brechen oder wie??"

Nein, nein ist es natürlich nicht du Honk, weil das auch keine Rechtfertigung für das Rasen war, sondern eine Erklärung dafür. Leute haben in der Regel Gründe, warum sie sich falsch verhalten. Das macht das Verhalten nicht richtig. Ist das denn so schwer zu verstehen?
