Ultimate Showdown Board

This has been sitting, primed, in a box tucked deep into the void that is my backlog since I got it 2 years ago. Took the last few days to finally get it painted. My son met Poots at GenCon and it’s reignited his interest in the game. He wants to start a new campaign, and I wanted to have this painted so we can start using it for these new lantern years.

I’m happy with how it turned out, especially since I put it off for so long as it always felt like such an intimidating task to invest time into.

Feedback is always welcome!

In Desperate Need of Help

Here's the quick breakdown. I have no one to play with so I find myself playing on Mobile Suit Arena or with a co-worker who has no clue how to play. My local shop has weekly casual play, but I skip it because the players are pretty much all day one, and they seem to be kind of snobby and cliquey. This makes losing feeling even worse as it feels like everyone is snickering when you get your "Prize". I've gone through all of the starters and boosters and learned as many of the cards (effects, costs, levels, etc.) as possible and put together a few different decks. I started with Blue/Purple (I didn't really have a complete grasp on all the mechanics at the time, so it was kind of a mishmash of the cards people said were good. Once I started to learn more, I created a White/Green deck. I played in a tournament and went 2-2. Then, I played it at a shop near me and lost every match. I changed it up, lowered pilots (as I found myself with damn near entire hands of just pilots), then added more cards to draw (then they rarely came up, and then I was missing pilots for crucial links), then I added more blockers and focused on White more than Green (I found myself with low level blockers galore, and none of my big boys during late game). All of these led to me getting defeated. I decided to have fun and play at a convention, and in 2 of my three matches it came down to my opponent having no shields left, and me with 3+, and them playing a hand that wiped me out completely - these loses sucked even more than the ones where I get blown out of the water.

I have no clue what I'm doing wrong! I have no idea if there's some secret component I'm missing, or if I'm just overall defeated at this point. I'm not sure if people know how to account for luck (roll for start, cards that come out through the game, etc.) and can mitigate its impact or what. I'd sell off all my stuff, but I've invested too much into it to just give up, but my desire to keep playing is damn near gone.

How have others overcome this, and what changes did you make to your deck or play style that helped? If anyone wants to play on Mobile Suit Arena to get a firsthand idea of my playstyle, I'd be happy to create a game for us in order to receive feedback.

Thanks for the help.

MOTU (2026) Strawberry Shortcake Easter egg?

I’m not sure if this has been discussed yet, but here goes anyway. When Adam is at his HR job, there is a scene where he’s in a meeting with other members of the office. One of the people is wearing a strawberry sweater, and the person next to him has short blue hair and large framed glasses that looks a lot like the original Plum Puddin’. I’m not sure if this is coincidence or intentional, but I feel like it may have been a nod, especially considering when the Beastman fight happens, we see a Marmalade truck - which happens to be the name of Orange Blossom’s pet — originally an orange butterfly, but later became an orange dog.
I may be reading too deep into some coincidences, or maybe it’s something that’s already been discussed but nonetheless. Just curious if anyone else noticed this.
