Shorty - Thumb Days 1993

I always loved the Am Rep stuff back in the early 90s, and all the early Trance Syndicate and Touch & Go releases but sadly overlooked Shorty. However my brother has two 7”s he’s going to give me as I can’t find Thumb Days on vinyl for sale anywhere.

I made a Dark Ambient / Concrète album during a post-surgery insomnia night. Only used a phone to record a guitar, ocarina, and hitting my bass with a lighter, then stretched and reversed everything in Premiere.

J$/333 - kkqwtpek (FULL ALBUM)

I wanted to share this 15-minute experimental project I put together during a pretty rough, sleepless night recovering from surgery. The atmosphere in the room was dense, and I decided to channel that weird post-op insomnia energy into sound.

Everything you hear was recorded entirely on my phone using just a few things I had around: a guitar, an ocarina, some whistles, and the sound of me hitting my bass strings with a lighter to get those metallic, heavy thuds.

After recording about two hours of raw audio, I threw it into Premiere, stretched the speed to the extreme, reversed tracks, and layered things both intentionally and completely at random to capture the chaos of that night.

It turns out that slowing down an ocarina or reversing a lighter hitting a bass creates some pretty haunting drone and noise textures. If you're into raw, lo-fi, and deeply atmospheric dark ambient, I’d love to hear what you think.

Thanks for listening!

Justice Yeldham

First time poster, long time lurker. I was at his concert at 6 years old (was brought by my parents). A noise artist from my small hometown in Russia brought him from Moscow to perform in our small avant-garde club. Nobody spoke any English, so we called him "The Glasseater" from that point on. Lucky to have experienced this at such a young age. Justice Yeldham has influenced me quite a bit in my music adventure, so cheers to him.

A little something with guitar and 3DS noise.

My first time getting the guitar out for this one, I like how it turned out layered and panned along with harsh noise out of my 3DS.

Claude Debussy piano recorded on to a failing microcassette, giving it that warped sound without added effects.

Best budget mixer for producing power electronics/death industrial?

Hey all,

I am looking at buying my first budget mixer in the coming weeks so that I can finally get into producing some death industrial/power electronics stuff.

So far, I have been most intrigued by the Yamaha MG10XU. It has USB connectivity for stereo output recording (my current audio interface is a Focusrite Scarlett Solo - so, I don’t really have the ability to route the stereo output from a mixer into my audio interface for recording purposes). It also seems to have a lot of routing options for no-input mixing and a tonne of onboard effects which I can play around with while I work on slowly building up my collection of pedals and other outboard gear.

Does anyone have any experience with this specific mixer or have any suggestions for other mixers at a similar price point that will get me in the ball park?

Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Will my electric drum kit blow up if I plug it into an amplifier and a pedal?

i apologize if this is a dumb question, i don't know much about the electronics yet, + i had bad luck with just looking this up myself

if it would blow up, would it be fine if i hooked it up like drum kit > mixer > pedal > amp?
