Umeå Harsh Noise delivery
Got a sweet noise delivery today. I ordered a box set and a shirt from Mima Cassette (https://mimakass.bandcamp.com/ ) but also got an additional cassette, CDs and shirt. Noise for days!

For shortish hikes and frolicking in the woods this waxed canvas beauty is great. I keep hoping that Savotta will make some new bags with waxed canvas. Dare I dream of a canvas Niukka with leather straps?
I need help with how I am supposed to play this instrument.
I bought this instrument that I think is a psalmodikom. It has two steel strings and two wierd wedge (slider?) things that seem to be for adjusting the tuning for the strings. The wooden one is lower and seems to be supposed to used as in the first picture. The black one is slightly higher. Both have a metal sheet sticking out the top. The black one also has felt on the bottom so I guess it is supposed to used as a slider underneath the strings.
I guess the strings can be tuned with the steel pins, but not sure to what note they should be tuned.
The body has notes written in pencil, so it might not be finished.
According to the seller the strings are supposed to be plucked, but I think the more common technique for a psalmodikom is to use a violin bow.
What throws me off the most are the two slider things as I am worried I would use them wrong and break the strings, which are steel.
UPDATE: It seems to be a monochord and not a psalmodikum. Thank you u/Grauschleier
Video update of a fuck around and find out trial of my DIY acoustic noise thingy from a previous post. Piezo mic ran through Big muff clone into a Caline Lorcan. Rusty spikes server as a tuner for one of the strings as well as tools for playing.
I did a thing with an old wooden clamp. Added some wire for strings and a chain for good measure. The nailed strings can be played like a harp while the one attached to the wood screw can be played like a violin. It sounds terrible when played with rusted objects and ran through some pedals. Will probably use it in upcoming releases of my AFBL project (https://afbl.bandcamp.com/ ). But what should I call it?
Update: video with audio test can be found here https://www.reddit.com/r/noisemusic/s/qeN2oO9Mg3
I just released a new set of tracks of darkened noisy folky ambience featuring field recordings and heavily distorted droning of traditional instruments.
Built a noise box for use in my AFBL- project ( https://afbl.bandcamp.com ), which has mostly been based on field recordongs so far.
Rusted tea can and a guitar thingie with three piezo mics. Now playing around with rattling stuff. Not sure if I'm even going to attaching anything to it or just use it as s barebones box to attack with various implements. Works as a microphone for voice too.
The sound clip is me attacking it with a rusty chain and old key, ran through some pedals into a Zoom U22.
I am learning to play the kantele in paralell with making field recordings and various noise. Playing around with the kantele as a source for noise tonight. Looking forward to add some more pedals... and kantele skills. Its currently very much the old school punk approach, meaning that it sounds like shit but I'm rolling with it.
I did not close the laptop. My audience of one is a harsh critic.
I have mainly played around with field recordings and piezo mics before. Now i have gotten a cheap pedal and a Zoom U22 to record right into Audacity. Piezo mic and cassette player works like a charm for creating some gnarly noises that contrasts well with field recordings. But I plan on expanding and adding some more effect pedals for using with input as well as building looks.
Looking for suggestions on fun and not too expensive pedals to add. I have seen that Old Blood Noise Endeavours have some fun pieces but not sure if they are worth it.
Making some noise for AFBL (https://afbl.bandcamp.com/) for my next thematic piece where I use coffee roasting equipment and coffee beans as input. Having some fun with the piezo and EMF microphones from Modular synth labs, right into my Zoom H2N. No preamp.
Headed out for a night in the woods with the Kahakka 25 , trusty sleeping pad and some additional pouches to keep all of the schtuff.
Sometimes it's the little things. I like to keep a small first aid kit at hand, and the small mesh pouches are great for that purpose. This chonky boi got to follow me in the pocket during a run. And sure it's useful and can be stuffed like a good potato, but I mostly like that it is so damn orange.
Goth bag pairing 🖤🐈⬛🦇
Brought my Askare to work to do some field recording (has my small recording kit in it). It sits so well on the Niukka. A perfect combo.
And speaking of the Askare. It really holds a lot. Tardis-like volume.
A while back I posted some photos of my recording session in a mining area. I have finally put together a two track album using these recordings.
The approach is to use largely unedited audio put together to tell a story, confusing as it may be. Natural acoustic noise of rotting wooden houses, decaying concrete, rusted metal and construction waste.
All sounds recorded on site, using existing structures and found objects in the old Ervalla mining area. Zoom H2N recorder and a cheap piezo mic.
Jääkäri S, Niukka, Askare, Kukkaro and a horizontal pouch on the run. I also have green kit with the Kahakka 25 and some additional pouches, but the black ones are my go to.
u/Delicious_Major_1044 requested a shot of my packed Niukka so here it is.
13" Dell laptop, 1l Nalgene, pen roll, a6 and passport notebooks, charger and cord pouch, Böker Hamburger pouch with tools and schtuff, first aid kit, bicycle pump, headphones. And there is room to spare.
Niukka is probably my favourite urban backpack of all time. Switched my Goruck Heritage Bullet for this one with zero regrets. Carries all the stuff without bulk.
Probably need to get one of the new patches for this one. You know, not for me, but to show it some appreciation.
In the classic Swedish moral and horror story Sir Arne's Treasure ("Herr Arnes penningar") there is a segment where one of the characters has a premonition of a violent mass murder, uttering the line "Jag vet inte varför de i denna kväll slipa så långa knivar på Branehög" ("I know not why this night they are sharpening such long knives at Branehög"). The line itself is a classic and is in my opinion a truly folk horror element, being that premonitions ("varsel") is common in Swedish folk lore.
This was the prompt I used for a contribution to the compilation "CANTICLES FOR THE BLACKSMITH SAINTS ༺♰༻". The track can be heard here, preferably with headphones during a dark night: https://echoveil-records.bandcamp.com/track/jag-vet-inte-varfo-r-de-i-denna-kva-ll-slipa-sa-la-nga-knivar-pa-braneho-g
Please check out the awesome compilation as a whole, which is massive! And if you feel like getting deeper into AFBL you can find more at https://afbl.bandcamp.com/
The image for the post is an edited photo capture of the scene in a film adaptation of the book, where the premonition is played out.
♱A Tribute to Saint Elisabeth & Séraphitüs-Séraphîta♱
This release is both a tribute to, and a fundraiser for, Saint Elisabeth and Séraphitüs-Séraphîta—two vital forces within the modern experimental underground.
They are currently facing homelessness while also dealing with serious health challenges.
All proceeds from this compilation will go directly toward helping them purchase a live-in van, providing stable shelter and a safer place to live.
The price has been set at $1 to make the release accessible to everyone, but if you are able to contribute more, please consider doing so. Every additional dollar is deeply appreciated and can make a meaningful difference in my friends’ lives.
Summertime means sketching and various project. A pencil always need to be at hand... or at head? Anyhow here are my two DIYed pencil loop for two of my fave caps. Featuring 2 hackwings with a Futura and Dapper Notes Long Point Posse pencils.
