Pretty New

Pretty New

First time using Field Notes as a refill for my PR notebook. I actually really enjoy the paper quality.

Rest In Pieces

So sad tonight. Was three pages away from filling this months book and took my pants from the day out of the washer and found it waiting for me in the pocket I forgot to take it out of. Had a lot of great stuff in here. PLUS it’s a rare Peanuts USPS stamp edition I’ve been saving and finally decided to use. Send prayers. Tell me your Field Notes horror stories!

Interoffice Prototype

I had some extra (really old) interoffice mail envelopes that I thought would make a fun prototype project for this evening.

I may have my wife sew a few Field Notes size envelopes for the box I’m starting up next week. What do y’all think?

The interoffice notebook has a mix of Rhodia dot grid, vellum, and the extra TechWeave paper I had left over.

Postcards From Nowhere Near the Edge

Still messing around with some proof of concept. Vintage postcards from places you've never heard of but would probably want to visit. If you want to go, use the fictitious travel companies on the back complete with old-timey phone numbers.

In / Out

Purple and purple. Dipping into the First ‘God of War’ pack I picked up from the PlayStation store a while back.

Physical Stores

Hi there! I recently moved to Reno NV. While I know I can order these online, I haven't found any physical stores that sell them. Where do you usually get your notebooks? Do you folks have any suggestions? Thanks!

Field Nut takes a vacation

I was in Arizona for work so I took a day off to go to the Grand Canyon, which finally gave me an opportunity to get one of my National Parks books stamped.

Turns out they have LOTS of stamps at different locations around the park, so I also stamped the first couple pages.

Spotty Staple Day

Cause dumb dumb me thought a new stationery item I bought was a dot maker when in reality it’s actually made for something completely else…

Decomposition notebooks

Has anyone heard of this brand before? I just discovered them and I’m in love. Can I get more suggestions for brands like this that create notebook with so much care and thought like field notes and decomposition?

May In/Out

After a couple of experiments, I'm coming back to Field Notes. In: Is a river alive? Out: Mukama Topo Notebook

I switched from FN to Moleskine Cahier previously and although the paper is really thin, I got used to it. The value is there (more pages and lower price) and I liked carrying it. After that one, I tried Mukama Topo Notebook (something special for my friends in EU). It goes for 10 EUR/3pack, same dimensions as FN, 48 pages of 5mm dot grid but the paper is freakin 140gsm and it's a joy to write on. I decorated mine with a Bellroy owl but it still lacked the character of Field Notes and I'm glad I'm back :)

In: Huckberry Out: Field Totes

Really enjoyed the Field Totes book. Loved how the cover showed a bit of Kraft colour underneath as it broke in. I’m a sucker for the paper covers so not looking forward to the plastic feeling of the Huckberry.

Current state of my collection

I started collecting in October of last year. These are all my current used and unused Field Notes. (I have some duplicates but they're not shown, with the exception of Fifty and Red Blooded, oops.)

I've been an A5 notebook carrier for the last ten years and I still bullet journal with one every day, but wow these Field Notes have felt very freeing just having one in my back pocket, accessible all the time for to-dos, random thoughts, sketches to explain my ideas, whatever. My bullet journal was for all those things AND for long term planning/tracking and summaries of my day but as time went on I was less inclined to carry it everywhere because of the size. I'm so happy I added pocket notebooks to my setup and I couldn't be happier. Except, maybe I could be with a few more FN editions I'm still after 😜
