Adding Photos to your Field Notes?

Hey Everyone!

Super new to journaling and field notes and was curious what everyone's preferred method of adding photos to their little pocket journals was? Do you tape or glue them in, OR do you use a little printer and print them on paper with adhesive backs to stick them in? Curious what the pros and cons are for each of these methods.

Max Cushion Easy/Long(ish) Run Shoe

Hey everyone.

Looking at the shoe rotation I have, I realized I am missing at easy run shoe/recovery shoe.

My current line up is the Dynafish Xiaonian and New Balance SC Trainer V2 (almost done) for my main do it all shoes. I have a pair of Puma Deviate Nitro 2s that I will use for some tempo stuff/structured runs, but honestly the Dynafish is taking that over too. I also have the New Balance SC Elite V4 that I used for my marathon and use currently for my long run shoe. I am a bigger guy (weight wise) at 5'10 235lbs. Looking for an easy pace shoe that can handle the 11/12min per mile pace well for slow, longer runs.

I have looked at the Li Ning Red Hare Ultra, the Vomero Plus, and the Vomero Premium. I would like to not spend the $230 the premium is, but know I can find them a little cheaper online if I shop around. Is the Li Ning the best of the bunch? I only hear great reviews. I tried on both Vomero models and liked them, but think I MAY prefer the Premium over the plus, but that was just a little jog around the store.

Open to other suggestions too! Thanks everyone!

Dynafish Xiaonian for Larger Runners?

I am a larger runner. I currently am 235lbs at run an average 12min mile. I have been smaller, and have ran faster. In 2024 I trained an ran my first marathon. I did most of my training in a rotation of New Balance SC Trainer V2, New Balance More V4, and ran the marathon and did some training in the New Balance SC Elite V4. I took a long break and am just now consistently running again. I retired the More V4s at 300 miles and am retiring my SC Trainers at 350 miles. I am looking for a daily trainer to do most of my miles in. I also have a rotation of the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 and Hoka Mach 4 that only have around 55 miles each (along with the SC Elite V4s that are at 60 miles).

I was originally looking at the Nike Vomero Plus, but the Dynafish keep popping up and I keep hearing great things. I have yet to hear of a larger runner using them and am curious what you thought about them if you were a slower, larger runner. Other shoes I am looking at are the Topo Specter 3 and MAYBE the Saucony Azura. Thanks for helping point me in a good direction!

Video Lens Reccomendations

I recently sold my Canon R6 and all my canon glass and picked up an XM5 to replace it for the videos I make which are mainly for social media and an occasional YouTube video. I found myself taking my XE4 and 35mm F2 for photos every where and only using the R6 for some silly videos (mainly making coffee lol).

I’m looking to pair a few cheaper lenses with the XM5 and wanted to see if I am on the right track or if I havnt considered something I should.

For my talking head videos I mainly used a 28mm F1.8 and always wished it was a little wider, so I am thinking a Viltrox 15mm F1.7 would do the trick. I also used an 85mm F1.8 for the coffee content (as well as a 50mm 1.4) and figured my current 35mm F2 and adding a Viltrox 56mm F1.7 would cover that. I didn’t know if there was something else I should look at, or if this was the move. Appreciate you letting me bounce my ideas off of you.

Gummy Shifter Question

I’ve watched a few YouTube videos and it seems like every video I watc, the left shifter (first picture) has a small lever to aid in swapping between chain rings for the front derailleur like the right shifter, but this one only has one? It also does not have any stops as you push/pull it…just sweeps across all three and feels like I’m pushing it through peanut butter. I plan on spraying some degreaser in there but don’t have any lube to spray in afterwards (would wd40 be alright)?

Zwift Ride or Wahoo Kicker Core + Old Bike for TOTAL NOOOOB

I don't own a bike. I haven't for a very long time (and it wasn't a road bike). I have been a "runner" for a while but have been really...and I mean really itching to start riding for fitness. I am unsure if I am ready for the road...I have a little fear when it comes to that at the moment. Some of it is because I am not comfortable on a bike, and when I was 13yr old (now 39) my grandfather who was an avid rider was struck and killed by a driver while riding....so that lives in the back of my mind. I know I will get over those and have to face those fears, but I think Zwift is a good place to start, and to gain some confidence (and strength) on a bike.

I want the Zwift Ride with Kickr Core 2 but also unsure if I want to spend the $$$ right off the bat. The other option is getting the Kickr Core 2 and find a used bike locally for cheap to use on the trainer and keep it as my Zwift set-up (not taking it on and off to ride outside, but dedicated to the trainer).

My question: Would I regret not getting the Ride with the built in controls, etc? or as a complete noob to riding in general, would the cheap used road bike route be better suited with the Kickr trainer? Is there another option I have not considered yet that you would recommend?

Really appreciate the insight.

Is it too late?

Hey everyone!

I just moved to a new town home that has a significant sized back deck. I currently live in central PA and was wondering if it was too late to get anything to start growing? I am a COMPLETE newb when it comes to this and in this is the first place I am looking for advice before I head to YouTube, etc.

Ideally next year I would get a few veggies, etc going to my kids can be involved and help harvest, but until then, I was wondering if it was too late for any herbs from seed, or if all I should look to do is transplant from a store already grown plants, etc.

Any advice would be great!

Budget Stand for ENO Single/Double Nest Hammocks

We recently moved to a house that does not have any trees where I can hang and I am trying to find decently priced stand that I can set up and take down as needed. I did a quick look on Amazon but a lot of those did not seem that they would work well with ENO. What is a decent sub $130 stand? Or, does that not really exist and I just need to suck it up and buy an ENO or Kammock stand?

Hey everyone,

I have been really enjoying my Fuji X-E4 and want to grab some new glass for the camera. The camera I purchased came with the TTArtisan 25mm F2 (manual lens) and I am borrowing the 18-55mm F2.8-4 (I actually really like this lens) from a friend.

I am wanting to grab an auto focus lens that is the size of the 25mm (or smaller) for grab and go, around town, etc. I am thinking of grabbing the Fuji 27mm F2.8 but I am curious on your thoughts when it comes to the TTArtisan equivalent. I like that the Fuji is just a tad smaller (and looks better), but I like the price of the TTArtisan. I could in theory grab two lenses from TTArtisan like the 27mm F2.8 AND their 70mm F2 for the price of the single Fuji lens.

My question...is the Fuji lens that much better than the TTArtisan lens? Or should I go the two for one route?

Appreciate you all!
