Dogs & Mini Grips.

Got me a Mini Griptillian.
Let’s see if this’ll kick the Osborne out of my pocket.

u/CremelloGold — 5 days ago

Three weeks in.

I haven’t reached for any other knife since I picked this up and it’s done everything I’ve asked it to do with ease. Why it took me so long to buy my first Benchmade, I don’t know. But I’m glad it was an Osborne.

Now I just need the 940.

Just paid my first Butterfly Tax.

Got me a 945 and the first impressions couldn’t be better.

Maybe I’ll come back in a month’s time and let you know how I get on with it, but as of right now - I love this thing. Played around with a 940 also, and you can bet your life that it’ll be my next knife purchase… and then likely even more Benchmade’s.

[WTS] Spyderco Manix 2 - Black G10 in S30V

I picked this up from Heinnie Haynes around 3 months ago, the Manix was a knife I always wanted to own but I guess it’s made me realise that I simply prefer a smaller blade.

Brand new, never been used - just been sitting pretty in my Spyderco collection since I bought it.

Purchased for £179.99 so…

Can’t say no to some full-size Bonestag.

I’m not saying that Case is finally listening to us but their 2026 knives are starting to look a lot better on the quality control side.

…apart from my Axe Handle. We don’t talk about that.

One for steak, the other for fruit.

Far from my favourite in the collection, but it’s what seems to end up in my pocket most days. From woodworking to prepping food, the mini trapper sure is a workhorse.

Today’s couple.

Because two knives are better than one and the Muskrat deserves more pocket time than it gets.

Shoutout to my local postman for making my Friday a whole lot cooler, and to Pure Pens for stocking the goods.

Tuesday’s ‘tiner / Today’s pairing.

One traditional, the other not so much.
But dammit, they make a good couple.

Update: I DID IT!

Well, after I calmed down and stopped getting so in my head about it, I was able to conquer that carbon steel blade - and a couple other knives while I was on an apparent winning streak. Figured I’d do a follow-up post because the feedback I had yesterday was way bigger than I thought it’d be.

Freehand, raised and removed the burr on the 325 grit stone, finished the edge on the 1000 grit and stropped to a razor sharp edge. Rips through paper and pops hair like new. Now, they don’t LOOK the best.. but I’m real happy with the progress. I was able to see where I was going wrong, made some changes to my techniques and got sweet results.

I listened to all to all of you ladies and gents who commented on my post and I took everything onboard. You had some stellar advice for me and I’m super grateful for all the help. I wasn’t expecting so much feedback from you guys and I haven’t managed to respond to all of you yet, but I’ll get there. I don’t take any of it for granted. Thank you, this community is the shit and I appreciate you all.

“The real skill is not giving up” - this comment hit harder than a woodpeckers lips.

Enough of the lovey-dovey, it’s time to find any dull object around my house and sharpen the ever-loving shit out of it!

Feeling so beaten down.

What’s going on guys. Long time lurker of this sub, first time poster. I want to try and keep this brief but detailed as possible, so bear with me..

I’m a avid pocketknife carrier and user. I have been a “knife guy” for a real long time now and have gotten by with just maintaining my blades with some ceramic (Lansky Turnbox & Spyderco Sharpmaker) and a leather strop. I purchased the WS Guided Field Sharpener a good while back, which was sort of my first go at using diamond stones. I then got the Sharpal 168h, 325 & 1000 grit diamond stone mainly due to OUTDOORS55’s good words on it.

It’s come to the stage where a lot of my blades need a real sharpening (and not just honing on some ceramic), I’m trying to take sharpening more seriously and learn all the tricks but literally none of them are working for me. I absolutely suck at getting a knife sharp but I truly don’t get what I’m doing wrong. I’ve been doing what every video tells me to do and I’m getting a dull blade every time. I have been working on a 2” Carbon Steel sheepsfoot blade (large stockman pattern) for the last 3 days, on and off. If I can’t even get a CS blade sharp, I have zero hope with my higher end steels (15v, Cruwear, Magnacut…). I seriously fucking suck at this and it’s got me so down. And yeah, I’m aware this is pretty pathetic and laughable. Almost at breaking point with it and sort of want to get rid of all my knives and be done with it.

I guess I thought I’d be decent at sharpening just on my meticulous nature and attention to detail but I suppose those attributes don’t play a part in this task.

I totally understand if no one comments on this negative post, but if anyone’s been in this position before, or just any general tips, that would be super helpful.

Thanks guys, I appreciate you.

Nothin’ too fancy this evening.

…but these ‘BBQ Pork & Beef Cheeseburgers’ needed some hickory smoke to push it a little further. Plus, any excuse to cook on the 22”, right?

In: Autumn Trilogy / Out: Pitch Black

Repurposing my Scarlett Oak from the Autumn Trilogy Edition, 2019.

I guess it’s ‘in with the old, out with the new’ this time.

15v on Weber duties this evening.

I could use actual kitchen knives, sure…

But why wouldn’t I want to use one of my favourite blade steels?

Spyderco 🤜🏼🤛🏼 Weber.

I told myself my Spyderco collection is looking good n’ healthy and that I didn’t need any new knives…

Then Heinnie Haynes went and dropped this on us.

S30V, Fat Carbon ‘Dark Matter’.
