It makes me sad that the blackpill is destroying the confidence of a lot of young men

I recently came across a post in another sub from a 21 year old virgin discussing how the blackpill wrecked his confidence. He said he discovered it at 16(!) and said he has a hard time making friends or trying to date because the blackpill made him think he is worthless.

This kind of story seems increasingly common and it is similar to my own experience (though I am much older). It makes me really sad that this is happening to many young men nowadays. I'm not typically conspiracy minded but it almost feels like some kind of psyop to destroy men's confidence.

I'm not really sure what the answer is other than that there needs to be more anti-blackpill guidance for young men out there. The blackpill seems like it's permeated into most male self improvement spaces.

Should I get into Old World if there are not many local players?

I'm an AOS and 40k player considering getting into Old World. I love the look of the old models and have read warhammer fantasy lore extensively.

However, there are not many players where I live. There are a handful of players at my local gamestore, so I'd at least be able to play occasionally, but there are vastly more AOS and 40k players.

Do you think it's still worth getting into?

I've gotten a huge itch to start an Elven army, but I'm conflicted about whether I should start Old World high elves or Lumineth in AOS. On the one hand, starting old world would allow me to try a new game system and help grow the local community. On the other hand, the AOS playerbase is pretty robust and I'm already familiar with the rules.

Struggling with picking a space marine chapter

I'm an AOS player wanting to get into 40k with space marines. A few friends of mine have 40k combat patrols and I wanted to build something that I could use to play with them.

I'm currently stuck between the following chapters and am struggling to decide.

  1. Blood Angles. I really love their lore and I love red. However they got shafted with their primaris refresh, I'm really not a fan of the sanguinary guard models, and the death company isn't even it's own kit and is just an upgrade sprue. I think I'd enjoy painting regular marines in blood angles colors, but I wouldn't have a lot of unique stuff which could get boring.

  2. Dark Angles. They have some of my favorite models (lion, deathwing knights, inner circle companions) but their combat patrol is boring as hell with zero unique units. Also I'd prefer to run a more close combat army and DA seem more shooting/defensive focused.

  3. Black Templars. I love their models overall and they have the best combat patrol by far. However I feel intimidated painting all that black armor, and not being able to use psykers kind of sucks. Also kind of meh about all the excessive religious iconography.

Basically I feel frustrated that none of the above options seems like a clear good choice. There are things I like and dislike about each, and the army list building side feels constraining.

What do you think I should do?

Custom chapter - Modeling and tabletop questions

Hail battle brothers, I'm wanting to start a space marine army as a custom chapter, but I'm still unsure about a few things when it comes to modeling and tabletop play.

  1. For those of you that have custom chapters, do you use generic marines for everything or use unique chapter specific units?

  2. I was considering making a knightly themed chapter that uses both Dark Angels and Black Templars units. My understanding is that I would just need to pick between the two when playing a game. For example, I could use Dark Angels units + generic marines in one game where I play them as Dark Angels, and Black Templars units + generic units in another game where I play them as Black Templars. Is this correct?

  3. How viable is it to create a chapter that is focused mostly on my favorite units? For example, If I love melee units like blade guard and also want to focus on librarians, can this play well or do I have to use a "balanced" army?

  4. Do you guys have any advice as far as custom chapter symbols? What do you suggest as far as transfers or should I create something I can freehand?

  5. Is playing custom chapters generally accepted in the community/at local game stores/ etc for tabletop matches?
