i am half tripurese and half mizo, and i am proud of my indian nationality. but, i have seen that some bamar people have indophobia. i am not generalising and including everyone. but i ask this because in my uni there is this one bamar group. ive always been fascinated by your wonderful country so i went and talked to them. we hung out for a few days but they immediately switched up on me after i told them im indian. myanmar has a lot of influence from indian culture and cuisine and whatnot so honestly i did not expect this to happen. but at the same time i find it reasonable because indians are very racist towards bamar and northeast indian people too. so i come here to ask - do you guys hate us? if so, why?

today i saw a map on which kutch (now part of gujarat, india) was an island. i thought maybe it was a manufacturing defect at first but the boundaries seemed too detailed to be a mistake. so i looked into it, and found out that before the early 19th century, kutch wasnt joined to mainland india and was an island! i know that it happened due to tectonic activity, but what exactly happened that caused such a massive island to become joined to the mainland?

i have exactly $10 in my steam wallet, i can either buy rust for $9.5 or mwii for $5.5.

i have never played a cod before and neither have i played any survival game before. i was going to buy mwii immediately but it has very negative reviews. whereas rust has a bad reputation. i usually enjoy multiplayer games without much grind to do.

i get it, india had a lot of influence from iran and whatnot, but arent myanmar, thailand, etc. closer to north india than many regions north indian languages have influence from? if we talk about geographical barriers, persia and india had the massive hindu kush in between, which were certainly more difficult of a crossing than jungles in ne india-se asia.

i know northeast indian languages are part of southeast asian language groups, but still north india is close enough to se asia. like for example, persian and west pakistani languages are more similiar to each other than north indian/east pakistani languages, but that doesnt stop north indian languages from being similiar too! so if persian influence can extend past regions in close proximity to persia into regions within moderate proximity, why cant south east asian languages do the same?

i had dreams where a tibetan monk, with completely black eyes, followed me. i remember trying to scream in the dream when i saw him but no sound came out. he followed me to my door, and when i closed it he tried breaking into my house by climbing onto the car and trying to get in through the window in front of the car. also, i saw a guy i know (not someone close, someone whos in my class but i barely know), dead. nobody took away his body, it just stayed there for days. and one day it changed places, but it was still there.

my mom is highly superstitious and she says this might be a bad sign or a dark energy lingering upon me. i do not believe in such stuff usually, but i watched a horror movie about demons and exorcism and i really got interested in the topic for a few hours, so i made some google searches. my mom said i shouldnt have done that cause it would bring negative energy upon me. in her words "as far as you try to stay away from this, the more you think about it, and hence the more are the chances of gaining negative energy."

i still dont fully believe this, but im really scared rn 😭 i was hoping you guys would have a psychological explanation.

i have no experience whatsoever in linguistics, im just curious.

so i just found out chukotko-kamchatkan languages were a completely new branch, i thought initially they were a subgroup of some language family (i actually expected them to be related to inuktitut and other arctic languages). i have tried to found information about them on the internet, but they are not well documented at all and i cant really find much about them. so i decided i should turn to you people, who have experience in linguistics.

any information, even the simplest, is appreciated. thanks in advance.

the manchu language used to be the official language of the court of the qing dynasty, and was spoken by hundreds of thousands, and around a million people at its peak in the 17th and 18th century. today it is spoken by less than 20 people. sure, languages die out, but how does a language which was the official language of court of one of the most populous countries on the planet die? i know about the persecution of manchu people, but i still didnt expect it to die out to such an extent! i assumed atleast a 50000 people would speak it.
