I got fired

just need to vent lololol since i’ve been keeping up with this subreddit since getting hired

for context, i’m a college sophomore and i got hired in june 26 as PT. I was not aware of costcos employee retention college program so i put my two weeks in, after finding out about it, i pulled it (luckily the manager in my department hadn’t seen it yet). so i got put on academic leave but because i wasn’t at my 90 days the stipulation was that i work up until i leave for school (8/20).

i voiced multiple times that working up until school with 8 hour shifts (that were all 1:30-10 🫩) wouldn’t work as i wouldn’t have time to pack, go dorm shopping etc. Long story short, a manager was able to change my last two shifts (today 08/18 and 08/19) to a 10-6:30, 8 hours but still allowed to leave early.

the issue is that while i working back to back 1:30-10, i never had time for anything else so the only time i was able to do stuff was on my lunch break which are only 30 minutes. however, the only time i recall coming back late from lunch was just recently as i needed to pick up a mini fridge i ordered from target for my dorm, working the entire day only allowed for me to go during lunch but it took longer than expected bc it’s also back to school season for target. another long story short, i essentially got fired for coming back to work after lunch 5 or 7 minutes late one too many times (excessive tardies).

what upsets me the most is they had me working back to back shifts trying to reach my 90 days only to end up firing me a day before my last day before going on academic leave and like… you guys couldn’t give a girl a warning or anything at first like and i asked them “is there no like warning write up?” they said “unfortunately we follow costco’s policy and we don’t make the rules we enforce them” and told me that i’m welcome to reapply in 6 months to a year or something like that. idk i just feel a bit played with after working so many hours only to be let go WHEN i was scheduled to leave. it feels like giving a two weeks notice and they fire you a day or so after anyway. Also, them trying to soften the blow and ask “so what are you studying?” as i’m signing the termination papers like pls stop talking.

and then like the job market, academic leave was a great opportunity to keep my job while being in school and work during breaks and keeping seniority, pay raises etc, and stay with company in case it took a little longer to get a job in the field im going to school for (business analytics).

i am mostly sad and a bit frustrated at all the hurdles it took and right as i was about to approach my 90 days + go on academic leave, i get let go. Maybe i’ll reapply or work at another costco in the future.

Ziegler car convo s6e14

sorry turn ur phone 😭

but i love that kenzie cleared melissa here like yes!!! u and jill started it!! for context, in the last episode brynn gets her jacket but melissa and jill complain that the scores were rigged, come to find out they weren’t. then at the end of the episode, jill flips the script and says she never said that and that ashlee was the one who said it was rigged like GIRL we watched u say it 😭 now they’re trying to act like that wasn’t what happened and i love that mackenzie isn’t going for it!

the way ppl view ashlee (s6e5)

mkay so i’m watching season 6 and while i will say ashley does have a big head when it’s comes to brynn (although it’s really no different to jill saying kendall is second best 🤷🏾‍♀️), the way the moms get upset (especially JILL) at ashlee essentially defending brynn is so hypocritical especially considering that most of this episode the moms (jill and jess) would make digs at brynn which prompted ashlee to say something back abt their kid, now it’s “oh u don’t wanna go there with me, don’t talk about my kid!” like bro, im ngl these bitches are sooooo jealous.

also some arguments in this episode u can js tell production told ashlee to say something about brynn for the sake of drama but that’s neither here nor there

Why did the moms announce every phone call they took?

for example, i’m watching s5e30 where they are in abby’s new LA studio (not completely finished but still usable) and Holly gets a call from mikey (the guy that produced nias music video) and she goes “oh it’s mikey i have to take this”

that’s just one example but my main question is why does every phone call need to be announced and why do they need to disclose who’s calling AND answer it in front everyone on speaker 😭, at least in this case Holly steps out but in other cases with the other moms they disclose who they’re talking to AND they put the person on speaker unbeknownst to them

i’m assuming the producers have something to do with it but it’s just like, we don’t need to know 😭😭 especially in hollys case like it’s already such a huge deal that she’s not under Abby’s management (the last couple episodes about the music videos) so why make it known to the moms (and abby who could hear) that mikey is calling. It doesn’t have to be a secret, but it’s not anyone’s business imo 🤷🏾‍♀️, and that goes for any of the phone calls they get

what in between hairstyle can i do?

for context, i had a fulani style in with a half wig that i take off at night. the wig is starting to get a little hard and my braids are old however i dont wanna take them down yet bc im sure i can utilize my hair being braided down and find another quick in between style before getting my hair done again before going back to school.

i bought a wig but omg nvm its too hard (it’s glueless but i think i cut the lace too short so its ruined 🫩 and i cant seem to tint the lace like it js sits on top instead of blending but thats neither here nor there)

so i was wondering what styles can i do while i have my hair cornrowed? i was thinking maybe a sew in but is it possible sew a closure on as well since there would be no leave out (hence why i couldn’t do a quick weave) cus if so, i’ll buy some cheap bundles from the beauty supply keep it in for a couple weeks before taking it down

Black people who attended private school that was predominantly white, what was your overall experience and did you enjoy it?

for additional context, in my personal life i attended private catholic school from 8th grade up until graduating senior year, long story short: i hated it. I now go to a public university and it’s great (off topic i tend to ramble sorry but i applied to so many private schools for university but my parents didn’t want me going because of distance but mostly price which is insane bc they were ok with paying for private school tuition all 4 years and constantly complained about how expensive it is while still sending me there) ANYWAYS

My younger sister has finished 8th grade at a private school and she wants to go back to public school, my dad is indifferent and it’s mostly my mom who is insistent on her going to the same private school i went to despite her (and I when it was me) not wanting to.

This whole thing has inspired me to write an essay on the black experience in predominantly white spaces and how some black and other poc see private schools as a proximity to whiteness/properness and brag about much superior they are to those who can’t afford to go or just aren’t in those spaces (public school kids) while at the same time disregarding the cries of those same black children who are struggling to integrate.

So, black people who attended (predominantly white) private schools, what was your experience?
