Playing through retail vanilla, what expansions should I focus on after?

Note I completed WC3 campaigns and going through vanilla retail and want to jump into the DLCs to experience warcraft 3-related plotlines being closed up the best they can or mostly before BFA and shadowlands and above where it was alleged that it ruined the endings of prior dlc and forced things in.

It seems like Legion is the best ending to warcraft 3 related plotlines I heard. And some state that I should only play BC and WOTLK and ignore Legion while others say I should play them all and exclude the other DLCs like Draenor, pandora, Cataclysm. I just don't want to pay for so much DLC and be overwhelmed by any separated lore since there is so much out there

Note I don't mind missing some other small related lore as long as I see the major warcraft 3 plot line threads being mostly tied up before BFA and shadowlands.

Are there actually any live service games with paid-only microtransactions (cosmetics or not) that have a huge robust modding community (official support or not)?

I have seen around the internet of talk about microtransactions and modding. I have seen from my skimming that more games that do not have paid microtransactions have a more likelyhood of not only having a huge robust modding community but one that is supported officially (steam workshop etc) or unofficially (nexus installation etc), in contrast with live service games with paid-only microtransactions (cosmetics or not). Especially as a PC gamer, the paid only microtransaction games I played are few and do not have a robust well supported modding community suported by the devs like Naraka bladepoint, RB6 siege, newer cod games, bf2042.

Some say that these live service devs want to get people to buy their microtransactions and feel that they would lose revenue and have less people buying their microtransactions if huge mods exist. Especially mods that make these paid microtransactions free. Some say that Devs can require the modding community to be more strict on what they upload to make sure that their mods do not replicate any microtransactions.

Are there actually any popular or any service paid microtransaction-only live service games that have a huge robust modding community that the devs support officially or unofficially? or is this a rarity in today's gaming?

Edit: By live service games, this includes SP, COOP, and PVP MP

Are there any free alternatives for REWASD for creating effective combo macros?

It seems like rewasd is the only software out there that allows effective customization of controller macros for various gaming purposes like macros that puts multiple inputs onto 1 button in various games or tasks.(rpg, fighting games etc or multitasking). Is there no other free software out there that does this?

I have tried ds4windows but it is very limited on macro creation. Plus you cant stop a macro once it runs

Steam input only works for games supported on steam obviously. But again macro creation is nonexistant or very limited.
