The Proclip car mount is expensive, but absolutely worth it

I just got the Proclip "Right Console Mount for Volvo S60, V60, XC60" ($38.25 on sale) mount for our 2018 XC60, and it is awesome. It takes longer to screw the phone mount onto the car-specific mount than it does to install the car mount, and it fits just perfect. I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 with the magnetic Qi2 charging, so I got the "MagicMount 25W Charge Pro Wireless Phone Holder" ($60 on sale), and it works just great. The magnet is the perfect strength to hold the phone in any situation and still allow me to easily remove it. I didn't want to spend $100 on a phone mount, but it fits like a glove, works perfectly, and should last the life of the car.

I'm not affiliated with Proclip in any way. I'm just very impressed with their product.

My sldumb watch face for bad eyesight

I made it on the Zepp Amazfit Watchface website, but doing it on the Android app would have been much easier. My main requirements were to show me exactly the information I wanted, in a font that my old eyes could easily read.

Fields are:

Time

Date

Steps

Active calories burned. Seconds

Battery. HR

It was a fun few hours project to learn how to make a custom face.

The Amazfit Active 2 Square Premium heart reate monitor is MUCH better than the Garmin Fenix 5

I just got an Amazfit Active 2 Square Premium yesterday in hopes that it could replace my aging Fenix 5, mainly because I had noticed that the Fenix 5 HRM wasn't very accurate and didn't handle HR variability (e.g. during weightlifting) very well at all. Today I worked out with the Active 2 Square, and it worked perfectly (tested against a dual-hand HRM on one of the machines at the gym). It was 0-6bpm different while walking, and it captured the spikes and troughs during my lifting with the same accuracy (e.g. hr of 153 after a set of 20 body weight dips). My Fenix 5, for comparison, would often show about 90bpm after a heavy set of leg presses, when I could barely breathe.

The next thing I need to test is the GPS, and I have a feeling it will do just great, too.

Additionally, I really like Zepp OS on the watch and the Zepp app on Android.

I bought mine for $84 on Ebay, and I couldn't be happier with it. Oh, also the display has more area than the Fenix 5, while the watch is physically quite a bit smaller, which I like. I've been wearing larger watches for the past 20 years, so this sleek one (with more screen real estate) is a nice change. I think I'll bang it less on walls and corners.

Pretty happy with my progress

Went on vacation last week and got a pic at the pool that I think looks pretty damn good. I'm down to 205 (from 246) since starting Tirz in November, and am the lightest I've been since 1998, with more muscle. I **think** my goal weight is 195, but I'll go lower if I can.
