I’m signing up for a bunch of new tools, websites, and forums, but I’d rather not use my personal number everywhere and end up on spam lists.

A lot of services require phone verification now, while many free VoIP numbers seem to get rejected. I’m looking for a temporary number that I can use for legitimate verification and then discard afterward.

What sites are you currently using for temporary phone numbers to receive SMS online? Ideally, I’m looking for something pay-as-you-go rather than a monthly subscription—just get a number, receive the verification SMS, and move on.

Would appreciate recommendations based on recent experience, especially services that are reliable and reasonably priced.
