Thought on CCM Tacks Classic SE

Thought on CCM Tacks Classic SE

For context, haven't played in nearly 20 years and only got back on the ice last November of last year at age 40. Since then, I have been skating 2 to 3 times a week. When I first went to my local pro shop back in November, I was fitted for a pair of Bauer Supreme M30s because I mentioned I just wanted something comfortable to skate around with my 5 year old. Things escalated pretty quickly once the hockey bug came back.

While browsing online, I came across a great deal on the CCM Tacks Classic SEs. Unfortunately, there is not a single shop within a 100 mile radius that has them in stock to try on. I ended up ordering them from Ice Warehouse, and from everything I can tell spec wise, they seem almost identical to the XF80s but with upgraded Step Steel. They are around the same price ~$300 as the XF80s right now

Thank you Gear Guard

Just had my R1S in for PDR for the rear quarter panel. Haven't been lucky with the left rear quarter panel and has been PDR'd a couple times. Today after getting the car back, new door ding caused by a lady in a Cadillac Lyric (EV on EV crime) the parking lot.

Gear Guard captured it but not sure if it would have recorded the license plate. Luckily my wife was walking back to the car and saw it happen. Confronted the couple but they denied and drove off. She was able to snap a picture of their license plate on her phone and we were able to file a report with the videos from the gear guard.

There were a total of 10 videos captured over the span of 40 minutes where this couple repeatedly opening and closing their doors looking for something in the car. Multiple times they opened their doors wide open touching our R1S - this one captured leaving a nice shiner. I am putting my PDR guys kids through college.

I extended my R1S lease waiting for the R2

I leased an R1S Quad in 2024 and did two years trying to time it for the R2 release. At the time I got an incredible lease deal and my state had a program for no sales tax on EV vehicles.

I originally was supposed to turn my vehicle in this week but was trying to weigh some options waiting for an R2 allocation. I looked at maybe getting into a preowned Volvo EX90 for a few months but couldn't work out a good deal to justify it as a temproary gap option as the depreciation hit would be significant as well.

I decided to extend the lease and the whole process just took a couple minutes with Rivian (Chase) Financial.

  • Mileage allocation is prorated for the extended term. I am allotted 12k per year from the original lease contact and would be allotted an additional 1000 miles each month for 6 months
  • 6 Month lease extension with the same payments
  • No penalty for early termination - eg if I want to turn in the R1S after a couple months I can without penalty
  • The residual is paid down further and adjusted from the original lease statement

Overall this was the most flexible buffer in lieu of waiting for the R2 allocations.

R1S Lease Return Tire Tread Depth

My R1S lease is coming to an end in a couple days and my tires are right at 4/32 of tread depth. Should I get these replaced before returning or should this be fine. I spoke to the rep and he mentioned that they account for $1000 worth of wear and tear like scratches that they will overlook...not sure about the tires though.

PS - Open Lane, the company that Chase uses for inspection has been absolutely a nightmare. I've tried to schedule an inspection three times and every time the night before they call and say they have to cancel because the inspector has a conflict.

6YO Conduct

My son joined his first 8U team this season, which is made up mostly of 6 and 7 year olds. He has made a lot of friends already and genuinely loves being on the ice. Overall it has been a great experience for him, but there is one issue that has become increasingly concerning.

There is one boy on the team whose behavior has become very aggressive and disruptive during practices. He has taken a strong liking to my son and seems to get upset whenever my son is talking to other teammates or not paying attention to him. He constantly cuts the line so he can stand next to my son during drills, skates alongside him during individual exercises, and often cuts him off on the ice.

Beyond that, his behavior toward the other kids has also been concerning. He throws his stick when frustrated and plays in an overly aggressive way, frequently pushing, tripping, slashing, and knocking down other players, even punching my sons cage while in line waiting for drills. Yesterday during practice, while the kids were waiting on the side for their next shift, he jabbed the blade of his stick into my son's stomach and pushed him to the ice then slashed at him with his stick.

The coaches are clearly aware of the behavior. A good portion of practice seems to involve them redirecting him, separating him from my son, or sending him to take a timeout. This behavior was also noticeable during tryouts, yet he still made the team, so it appears the team will be dealing with this situation for the season.

To be fair, the parents also seem aware of the situation and have been apologetic when speaking with us after practices and games. I do not get the impression that they are ignoring it or dismissing it.

I am honestly unsure how to handle it moving forward. I do not necessarily want to confront the coaches or the parents directly, but the situation is becoming disruptive not only for my son, but for the rest of the team as well.

Anyone have any success in NJ, NY, CT or PA to buying at MSRP. Talked to a couple dealers in northern NJ over the phone with one telling me they dont do markups. I went in today and they had one coming in towards the end of May and gave me the build sheet. They added over 3k in port installed options and the salesman told me that our markup ranges from 5 to 10k...
