Before you mention that there are quite some posts about this, let me start by mentioning that I'm from Puerto Rico, where zx6r 2026 cost 15k and r9 2025 19k OTD (although dealer rep gave me the winks that they can lower the price).

For many, this would throw them on the zx6r no doubt, but I do. Why? Valve interval at 7k~ miles for a bike that will be my commute, daily, and funsies with my group. I had an r3 And rode 6k miles within a year. And the R9 has an over 20k interval. On the otherhand hand, zx6r was my dream until I saw that, the r9 is the perfect candidate but I will not buy it unless its 17.5k at most.

Am I overreacting with the valve thing and should get my "dream" zx6r? Or should I get my first-love-after-dream-shattered R9? It looks and seems awesome and quite unique here (since nobody pays 19k for an r9 100%, thats why only 2025s are on stock on the whole Island).

Mind you, I commute to work hybrid, have fun on twisties but also love some pulls. I feel like the r9 torque will be funnier to use.

Am I overreacting?

I was set-on-stone hard-set on the '26 zx6r, literally about to get it. And then I found out about this expensive maintanance at such a low interval. Then on top of that, most suggest an initial check at 3,000mi. Its like– when all bikes are getting just the oil change around the 3k miles, this one would be getting a hundreds worth of maintanance? And that's if it doesn't need adjustment.

I ride for daily, and most bikes have 15-20k interval which insanely some bikes are even sold before then. But this one reaching 10k must "ideally" have 2 valve checks done already and possibly an adjustment? And those 20k for the other bike's first valve check this one would be at its 3rd.

I'm I overreacting seeing this as a dealbreaker? This was my dream bike that I would've loved to keep for years but I see myself riding and scared of the odometer going up. Can someone give me the real talk here?

Would I still need one after putting the full system exhaust AND going to the dyno for a full tune and flash?

Additionally, do you suggest I do the break-in + oil change BEFORE putting on a full system + tune or AFTER? Or is it negligible?

Which quadlock option are there for the 2026 model? aside from the stem mount which looks akward.

I've seen posts about the handlebar put near the stem but those where on older models and they were unclear about spacers, adapter/extenders, etc. So I would like a clear method and options displayed.

Para resumir, tengo un nuevo trabajo, un poco demandante y no tengo mucho tiempo libre. Además de que me compré un carro, tengo otro traspaso de título en proceso y también necesito sacar un duplicado de marbete porque el papelito/sticker se jodió. Y todos sabemos que en CESCO uno va una cosa y ya se fue el día...

Vi que en CESCO digital uno puede hacer citas directamente, y virtuales. Se pueden hacer citas para esos 3 casos míos?

- Coger un titulo de un carro que ya está a mi nombre

- Ponerle un gravamen a otro título de un carro nuevo

- Duplicado de marbete para uno

Son cosas que virtualmente pues tal vez se procese pero igualmente tengo que ir en persona a buscar las cosas supongo...

Otra pregunta sería, ¿puede alguien ir a buscar eso por mí si le doy todo lo que necesitan? Mi esposa, por ejemplo. ¿O una ayuda así debe ser notarizado y to heavy?
