Non-English Surreal Films (With easily accessible English subtitles)

I'm looking for NON-ENGLISH films, I've got quite a lot of English films on my plate and I feel like I want more outside of that sphere. And I like surrealism.

Non-English Surrealist films that I have seen are

- Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders

- Paprika (2006)

But for some more, I guess, English Surrealist films that I have seen are

- Being John Malkovich

- David Lynch Goodness (Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, etc.)

- Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas

And just incase, films that are on my list but I haven't seen yet. (Both Eng & Non-Eng)

- Birds, Orphans and Fools

- The Bed Sitting Room

- Pi (1998)

I also quite like Surrealism mixed with Crime, not a requirement, but I do quite enjoy my crime media. Either detectives or criminals.

[TOMT] [WEBSITE] - Old British? News Website I remember from the 2010s in Primary School

Bit of a shot in the dark, and I'm very uncertain, but here goes.

From around 2014-2018, I remember sometime from year 2 to 5, that we used to watch a news site on breaks. Somehow, this stuck around in my mind. The two segments I remember are:

  1. CCTV View of a woman in a local/corner shop

  2. Chinese New Year, with the image being a few Chinese flags Infront of the camera, outside over pavement

I am a bit doubtful it's up anymore, but the internet archive exists. If it skews anything, I also live in the North East. I'm not sure if it operated in the North East however, I'm 99% sure it's from the UK.

I have an image in my head, which is this. A rounded UI with an orange border. There was definitely more colours I just can't remember everything well enough to give it a better rendition.

I have tried going to my primary school, which was definitely something to do, it changed a lot, but the people at the reception were either new or couldn't remember at all.

Looking for Music Like Broadcast (especially Work & Non-Work + The Noise Made By People)

As it says in the title - yeah, I'm not sure if there's much music alike Broadcast, there is Stereolab but, i just couldn't particularly get into it.

To be even more particular, singer is a woman and the lyrics are very clearly spoken, they aren't as buried in the mix and you can very clearly make the lyrics out. Throw in some samples as well.

I'm also much more likely to enjoy work by a British artist - I don't know why, all of my favourite music is by British artists. I do look for non-British artists and listen to them, I just mostly like British artists. Especially Northern English/Scottish. Not that I won't listen to Non-British artists or can't find them enjoyable. I just tend to not fall in as much love with their sound.

Similar artists that I enjoy are Boards of Canada & Tacoma Radar

Looking for 1950s-2000s Arthouse, Surreal, and Odd British films

It'd be difficult to specify one thing - so i'm specifying a few things.

1950s-2000s Arthouse Films, e.g. Man Is Not A Bird and The Innocents (1961)

Surreal Bull Shit - David Lynch, Being John Malkovich, Paprika (2006)

Odd British Films - I don't have film comparisons and I'm probably looking for a kind of film that doesn't exist because it's not particularly thrilling, but I'm very fascinated by the TV show Spaced, because even if the comedy doesn't entirely land for me, I do quite enjoy how real of a demonstration of being a 20-something in the UK in the late 90s / early 2000s it is, and I think a film in that kinda way would be interesting, but again I wouldn't be surprised if that just doesn't exist at all.

I would like all 3 to have a slight comedic element because, that's just what I personally prefer. It's not required, though.

Another thing to say is that any film that influenced the band Broadcast, they have a lovely sound and they've been inspired a lot by films, it's where I got Man Is Not A Bird and The Innocents from.
