New Genesis facility in Chicagoland

Made my first service visit to the Genesis-only dealership in Highland Park, IL today. Love the facility!

Great to see them establishing Genesis-specific facilities and making an effort to deliver a full luxury car experience.

Creating a book with our family’s story

Hi all! I’m new to the sub, my wife and i adopted our daughter in May 2026, she is 13 weeks old.

In the waning weeks of my parental leave from work, I’d like to create a children’s picture book about our family’s story, as one of the ways that we can talk to our daughter about adoption. I was envisioning something like Jamie Lee Curtis’ “The Night You Were Born”, but customized to our story and maybe bringing in some of our journey beforehand (eg fertility struggles).

Has anyone done anything like this? If so, any sites or templates that exist out there to help create a bespoke children’s book? I would also welcome genera tips and other related experiences. Thank you!

Day trip routes for road biking?

What’s up all. I’m a road biker living in Lakeview, and while I appreciate our nearby roadie options (LFT; Sheridan from Evanston to Great Lakes Naval Base), sometimes some variety would be nice.

Anybody have anything recs on any day-trip options for fun paved bike routes? Ideally would want less than 2.5 hour drive from Chicago, and routes that are >30 miles (fine if some of that is via an out-and-back). Thanks!

Audibles on Midwest riding events this weekend

Hey all. A few friends and I were planning to do the Holland 100 century this Saturday, but air quality is looking really bad. Anybody else dealing with a similar situation?

I’m wondering if there are any other events that we might audible to in more AQI-friendly geographies (eg southern Illinois). If Michigan AQI is over 200, I just don’t see how we could ride it safely.

Greatest players of the 21st century for each NFL team

Based on Marc’s comments on yesterday’s pod, the Heroes are going to make this a more robust project and they’re going to limit to “this century.” In advance of those episodes, I thought it might fun to bat around our own lists on the sub.

For me, the “greatest” label means this is about caliber of NFL player, not “story of the NFL” stuff. So if I was doing a greatest all-time Jets selection, Darelle Revis (top ~5 at his position) would clearly beat out Joe Namath, even if Namath is probably the “face” of that franchise. Accolades like All-Pros, All Decade Teams, and MVPs are helpful here.

I thought about it in three general tiers, with a few team examples to start:

NO DISCUSSION NEEDED

  • Patriots: Tom Brady
  • Jets: Revis
  • Colts: Peyton Manning (impressive that Manning is so good that HoFers like Freeney and Harrison still don’t warrant a discussion)
  • Chiefs: Mahomes (like Manning, Mahomes is so impressive that Priest Holmes, Chris Jones, etc. don't even need to get mentioned)
  • Texans: JJ Watt

PROBABLY A CLEAR #1 CHOICE, BUT SOME FUN DARK HORSES TO DISCUSS

  • Ravens: Ray Lewis (Jonathon Ogden and Ed Reed would be #1 for many franchises, but tough to beat Lewis. Dudes like Chris McAlister and Haloti Ngata sadly don't even get into the convo)
  • Chargers: Tomlinson (but one could make the case for Phillip Rivers and I would not be shocked)
  • Panthers: Julius Peppers (I might have put this one in the "No Discussion Needed" group, but some Panthers fans might lobby for Steve Smith or tell me I'm underrating Luke Keuchly)
  • Rams: Aaron Donald (to me, Marshall Faulk would be right there with Donald, particularly if we didn't arbitrarily lose his 1999 season due to the 21st century cutoff)

WIDE OPEN

  • Cowboys: This would have been easier before the "21st Century" limiter was added-- Bob Lily or Larry Allen. But now you're looking at a pretty even field of Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, Demarcus Ware, and Dak Prescott.
  • Giants: I'm doing this top of my head, so very probably I'm missing some guys, but do you take Eli for the 2 SB wins? Or Strahan or Tuck for the pass rush prowess that defined those SB teams? Or a player who shined brightly during the down years like Dexter Lawrence? Or Odell's brief but transcendent peak?
  • Bucs: Warren Sapp? Derrick Brooks? Levante David? Mike Evans?

How do people feel about the answers for your own teams? Any quibbles with these initial examples?

Hi all. I have found a men's Oxford button-down shirt from a mass retailer that I really like-- the "slim" cut is aligned to my preferred fit, the texture and colors are good, etc. This would be a great source of go-to casual shirts, which for me is worth its weight in gold.

But there is one issue. The shirts are too long. I am looking for Oxfords that I can wear untucked in the evening or weekend, but that fit well enough that they don't look sloppy. The slim fit is a good start, but the length is clearly too much-- the front hem of the shirt is hitting at the bottom of my fly.

My question for the experts: Is it possible for a tailor to shorten the length of an untucked Oxford and still have it look good? E.g. keeping the right stitching and look on the bottom edge, preserving the right "scallop" shape of the hem on the sides, etc.

It's tough for me to find casual shirts that I love, which is why I'm willing to spend on tailoring if it gets to a good outcome. I'm just not sure if this type of tailoring is possible.

Apologies for my ignorance, and thank you for any guidance you can provide!
