Gift for my boyfriend’s mom? (She’s Chinese)

Hi! I’m trying to buy my bf’s mom a birthday gift and I know she’s into whatever trending on Chinese social media. Over the summer she was into the Trader Joe’s Bags and the Labubus. She likes beauty and clothes too.

We’re in America so are there any American brands that are popular on Chinese social media? I unfortunately do not speak Chinese. Please if you have any clue, I’d really appreciate it!

I (23F) feel disconnected from partner (23M) sometimes. How do I/we work on this?

Before I was with my partner, I was super hyper independent. My boyfriend is so sweet, like out of a movie sweet, I started to expect that and when it doesn’t happen I get sad with him. This has been a cycle for months and I would really like some advice to stop it.

There are things he does that makes me feel invalidated or not listened to. He doesn’t mean to and I cry really easily without meaning to. We have different texting styles, different ways of growing up and different love languages that contribute to this. I know he adores me but I don’t feel it unless I ask for it. If it’s something he can readily fix, he’ll do it no hesitation. Other things like texting or remembering things can slip his mind

I started getting back into my own hobbies and spending time on myself but I’d really like to know how to work on not being so dependent on my bf/getting sad so easily. I mostly feel this when we’re apart and things are great when we’re together :)

If you want to read more about why I’m feeling this way, some recent examples:

- I was explaining that it’s hard for me to leave work early because of my manager and he told me that it’s not that serious and I’m not getting paid enough to stress about it. He added that I’m thinking too much about it. (He said it in a much nicer way than this reads) Things like this make me feel so invalidated and I just want someone to understand me

- when I say “i love you” he doesn’t always say it back

- when we chat, he’ll engage if he’s talking about himself but not as much when it comes to me.

Anyone here get a later start?

I feel like my qualifications are just barely average compared to others my age. I’m looking into doing a masters in a year or two. I do really want to try my best to get an internship at NASA.

I graduated with a Bachelors in CS last year but I struggled my last 2 years and don’t have any strong extracurriculars or research work. I currently work a 9-5 desk job. I’ve been emailing around my local universities to see if anyone would be willing to let me do research.

I want to do it over this time and give it my all. Does anyone else have a similar experience?
