My partner and I were on our walk when a squirrel knocked something on his shoulder. He didn't think anything of it and brushed it off. When we got back in the house I saw a cicada on his shoulder! They're falling from the skies now 😂! I got it off as quick as I could and returned him to a nice tree outside.
We helped this little buddy find its way onto a tree! It was so cool getting to see one in person finally, they are so interesting. We put it on a tree just above a different cicada's shell.
I went back around lunch to check on it and it had emerged safely (last photo is its shell)! I'm a bit sad I missed the process but I had exams to write this morning 😅
Any idea what type of is? Found in southern Ontario

I helped this little buddy off the sidewalk and into a tree this morning! It was last week Wednesday that I rescued a different cicada. Is there a cicada Wednesday now? Lol!

These babies crawled on my finger while I did some maintenance on their enclosure.
We managed to get first today too! I think this arena game is probably my favourite so far.
My summer goal was to find a weevil and this dude happened to be in the bathtub lol! It is an imported long-horned weevil according to seek. I still hope to find a long snoot weevil 👀

I've since cleaned their enclosure and topped up their leaves! I'll be splitting my bin soon because there are probably too many for this enclosure now 😅

This morning's walk ended up being a pillbug rescue mission! We saved 7 from being crushed on the sidewalk. I find it so funny how in the first picture the male immediately climbed on the female 😂 (assuming based on colour, I could be wrong!) They were all safely returned to shaded grassy areas!
