Flea help!!

we have 3 dogs and 4 cats! my dogs have fleas the worst, i’ve tried giving them baths with a bunch of shit that is supposed to kill fleas but they just keep coming back. i feel like it’s mainly one dog that has them the worst, he is constantly itching and biting and i feel so bad. we got them a collar that is supposed to get rid of the fleas but it doesn’t seem to be working. i dont want them to live in such discomfort just because of something i cant fix. it’s getting to the point where the fleas are jumping onto me and my family, i see them on my bed and i dont know what to do. i see them crawling all over the dogs but the cats doesnt seem to have them. i have treated them just incase but i am a bit more worried about that said dog, please let me know what to do! i know they hide in furniture but how would i get them out ? do i just vacuum the furniture and wash bedding? help!

What can you do to stop a shelter from euthanizing a dog?

A friend of a friend is fostering a dog named Pablo and he is scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow. Apparently the shelter wouldn’t allow them to adopt him.

ps: I just heard about this.
weve tried reaching out as well

here’s a post my friend made
for Ottawa Humane Society

“””
Euthanizing the dog, Pablo, is a premature choice and demonstrates irresponsibility. There is someone who is willing to adopt him and cover the associated costs, and yet you plan to euthanize him tomorrow regardless. This seems negligent. This is not an isolated incident either; there are numerous testimonials from others experiencing heartbreak and grief.

I understand euthanasia is sometimes chosen as the most 'humane' option for an animal, but clearly there have been many instances where inadequate consultation and consent have been given before euthanizing an animal.

This track record contradicts your organization's commitments, especially:

Five Freedoms
- Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour - By providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind.
- Freedom from Fear and Distress - By ensuring conditions and treatment that avoid mental suffering.

Customer Service Charter
- "We will look for ways to improve services and will learn from comments and complaints"
- "We will take responsibility when dealing with your request, making sure we do whatever is required"

Quite frankly, the latest decision to kill Pablo is not only morally questionable, but not a great look and I am afraid these decisions might make it harder for your organization to thrive and secure the funding it needs to help these animals over the long term. I urge you to quickly reverse the decision to euthanize Pablo, and thoroughly review your processes and organizational values.”””

Wild fox seems too accustomed to people

My gym is in a rural area and is 24 hours, I prefer going at night later. I’ve suspected there was something living around there because I always heard rustling in the woods as I was walking to my car and I saw the silhouette of it another time. But yesterday it came up to me and followed me around. Not hissing making no noises just being a sweet little guy. Like within maybe 6 ft of me. I assume someone is feeding him or her. I watched it for a bit and then left it alone and didn’t let him come to close in case it had rabies or something. You obviously don’t want them associating humans with food and not hunting anymore. Any reason to call the DNR or should I keep letting him be and admiring him from afar. I move back to school at the end of August anyways and he seems healthy and capable of hunting and I don’t wanna mess with his ability to hunt

Title: My dog's breath used to clear a room...

A while back my dog's breath got bad enough that I stopped letting him get close to my face, which felt kind of sad honestly. Went down a rabbit hole trying to sort out what actually works versus what's just marketing on a dental chew bag.

A few things that made a real difference:

Brushing 3x a week (not daily, just consistent) — biggest difference by far

Dipping a finger in plain pumpkin puree first to get him used to mouth handling before ever introducing a brush

Fresh water daily, and actually washing the bowl out

Skipped breath sprays entirely — they just mask the smell instead of fixing the cause

If it's sudden or smells sweet/ammonia-like, that's worth a vet check rather than a home fix, but most everyday dog breath is just plaque and diet.

Wrote up everything I learned in more detail if anyone wants it — happy to share the link if that's okay with the mods here. Curious what's worked for other people's dogs too.

Cat Scratch - Possible rabies?

Hello po, my 5y/o daughter got scratched by our pet kitten (no vaccines) today, August 16, 2026. Nagpainject siya last January 2025 for anti rabies (3 doses/sessions). Effective parin ba yung previous anti rabies niya? Or can i observe our kitten muna for 10 days to see if may rabies symptoms siya before having my daughter get anti rabies vaccine ulit?

Ps. Tumalon yung kitten from sofa to floor kaya nakalmot yung anak ko sa forearm niya since nasa floor siya

is this safe?

My roommates recently got a dog (without consulting me) and they have been taking care of the dog to the best of my knowledge. I personally do not interact with this dog because they keep it locked up in their room and they have blocked off the living room from me.

The other night around 2 am I found out that they have been locking the dog in an unventilated bathroom. The bathroom floor has a few of my shower products which I know cannot be good for the dog if it took a bite, and this dog is a biter. They lock him in there when he’s being bad, which is what they were trying to do this night. I put a stop to it for the night, but they have been doing it continuously.

The dog is usually locked inside of its crate in a dark room all alone during the day and is only let out during the night. Yesterday there was a bad storm and the dog was whimpering and barking, clearly scared. As he is a new puppy, this was his first bad storm. He was all alone and I could not reach either roommate, so I broke into the room and let the dog out. He seemed much more relaxed and happy out in the living room, where it was much brighter and nicer for him.

I feel like this is some sort of abuse, but I’m not sure. Any tips on what to do?

Niche advice for finding lost cat?

My cat has been missing for almost a day. Can you give me advice to find him beyond the typical wikihow stuff?

What I've tried:
\- walking around yard with clicker and treat calling his name (he's clicker trained)
\- checking bushes, under decks, and what might be interesting spots for a cat
\- waiting on the porch with food water his bed and some of his kitty litter (still clicking and calling him)
\- bringing his sister out in her stroller to lure him out
\- going to talk to neighbors soon and set up posters

He was born in the wild, adopted at a few months old, and is relatively shy/skittish. I have no doubt he will come home if he can because his recall is very strong and he has three siblings he loves dearly, plus he is a sucker for attention.
