Please Advise: Buying a Home in Baltimore city

Hello Baltimoreans,

I realize I might be asking an incredibly biased group, but I wanted to gauge everyone’s thoughts. My boyfriend and I have been debating purchasing a townhome in Baltimore City, with an estimated timeline of about 1.5 years from now. We’ve both been to Baltimore many times and understand the city well - good, bad, and ugly. I personally love the city and all it has to offer, while my partner is less sold on it but still likes it overall. We feel it may be a good location to strike a balance of city lifestyle while not breaking the bank.

My extremely ill-researched take is that buying a row house in Baltimore may not be the most lucrative investment (in the short or long term), but it does seem like one of those rare cities where buying might actually be cheaper than renting (factoring in quality of residence too). For context, we currently reside in the DC metro area where cost of living is significantly higher.

So… what are everyone’s thoughts? Is it worth owning in Baltimore? Does anyone have personal experience with row home ownership? What are some of the challenges as well as the bright spots? Thanks!

Moving to Baltimore for a RN job at Johns Hopkins Hospital — where should a young professional live?

Hi Baltimore! 👋 I just accepted a RN position at Johns Hopkins Hospital (CVPCU, Zayed 10) and I’m committing to the move — I’m relocating out of state, so I’m starting a new chapter here and could really use local insight 💜

**My main question are about** **living here****, with a few ones for anyone who works at Hopkins**

🏠 **Where to live** — which neighborhood hit the sweet spot of *safe, affordable, and walkable*? I’d love to be near grocery stores /everyday essentials to be sustainable on my own without a car.

I’ve seen Patterson Park, Canton, & Fells Point mentioned, but where are others that are cheaper/ better for *safe, affordability , and convenient factor*

Any efficient resources you can recommend to find roommates, housing resources, apt/ rooms for rent

🚗 **The commute** — How do most people get around, is having a car essential?

💙 **Hopkins folks:** If you work at JHH (nursing or healthcare), what’s it like working there? And if you happen to know about Zayed 10 W culture. Looking more internal insight working there!

Any honest advice appreciated 🙏✨

*Posting as a genuine newcomer to the city and the field — just trying to set myself up well before the move.*

Student Dental Cleaning- Dundalk

Hello hons! I'm dropping this flyer here for a friend. If you can commit to a few hours over at Dundalk CCBC you can get a super cheap tooth clean and help out a student! Please only reply if you can for sure commit. It could cost the student the whole course if people don't show. Thanks all!
