Getting two bars a lot, what’s up?

Hi everyone! I switched from T-Mobile to Mint recently, I’m really excited about the rate I’m paying!

What I’m less excited about is how I often seem to get two and one bars in areas. I don’t remember getting two and one Barcs in the past. For example, I’m sitting in my house now. Usually get four bars in my house, and now getting two or one bars. Not sure why this is happening. I don’t think I’ve removed the old eSIM card, but I didn’t think that should affect anything.

Any thoughts?

How is Consumer Cellular, Straight Talk, or Visible coverage In Jarrettsville?

Hi there! I would like to switch my parents off of their Verizon cell phone plan to save them money. They live In Jarrettsville. I noticed Mint Mobile (who I use) doesn’t work as robustly at their house as where I live, so that one is out.

Can anyone let me know what the coverage is like from personal experience if you use a MVNO provider like Consumer Cellular, Visible, Straight Talk, and live in that area? Just want to give them a good experience and save them money. Thanks so much!

Best garments for nephrostomy tubes

Hi everyone! My 86-year-old mother had to get nephrostomy tubes a while back. She has a doctors appointment in person, and is very worried about going places with her tubes in. At the moment, she has been wearing nightgowns and a housecoat, as she doesn’t feel like other things she owns will work with the nephrostomy tubes.

My mom uses a walker to get around, and has pretty severe swelling in her legs from lymphedema. I am wondering if I can buy something on Amazon to help her manage the bags, or a garment that has pockets built in for the bags.

Thanks for any help! She has been avoiding medical care since she came home with the tubes in, so getting her confidence up and getting garments that are something she can manage are both goals of mine

Thoughts about checkups and cleanings at the Dental school or BCCC

Hi everybody! I do not have dental insurance, and I’m considering going to the dental school or to BCCC for cleanings and check ups.

I’ve never done this before, and wondering what the differences are as compared to going to a regular dentist. How much longer does it take for everything to happen? Our cleanings done in one visit, or do you still have to come back for cleanings after an initial visit? Not sure how it works, so any help is appreciated!

I’m very close to BCCC, so Cleaning there would be very convenient. The dental school is also convenient, but less slow than BCC.

Can’t get verified on Bing for Business

Hi everyone! A long while ago, I created Yelp and Bing profiles for my company back when I made my Google my Business profile.

I logged into my Bing profile to update it today, and noticed that it still had verification in progress. I don’t remember ever getting a postcard from Bing, so I must not have ever finished the verification. I’m not sure if it’s due to the terrible mail delivery at my building, or if it’s due to the fact that I could not put my box number on the address so it came directly to my mailbox at the building. My building is pretty complex, with a block of mailboxes in the lobby

I tried resending the verification today. I tried using Phone, SMS, and mail. In all instances, the resend pin button was grayed out and un-clickable.

Has anyone ever had this issue? How did you resolve it? Should I delete it and do it anew? Or is there a secret way to get this to work? Thanks!

Want to switch from T-Mobile to Mint, with existing iPhone 13

Hi everyone! I have an iPhone 13 that I bought from Apple a while back. I believe I bought the phone unlocked, because I liked having the flexibility.

I would like to switch to Mint Mobile, but heard there may be issues with iPhones. I’ve looked on the page, but I see information about switching to a new iPhone, not switching service on an existing iPhone. What are the steps I need to take? Are there any pitfalls I should look out for?

Using phone as a hotspot

Hi everyone! Very interested in exploring Mint Mobile for my work phone. I am a freelance photographer and sometimes I have to upload files on-site to people using my phone as a personal hotspot. I currently have T-Mobile and it works great! How is Mint Mobile in this regard?

And how much slower is it in practice, compared to T-Mobile (I’m in the Mid Atlantic)

Parent’s will is not filed with Register of Wills, is this a concern?

I am in Maryland and I recently discovered my parents have never filed their Will with the Register of Wills. I understanding is that it is not required to be registered. However, is this a mistake to not register? What are the benefits of registration?

What are some good books for beginners regarding estate planning and dealing with wills, etc

Hello! In Maryland. Parents are not getting any younger and health is declining faster than in the past. Wondering what books you all might recommend to help explain what steps are needed for this situation. The situation also has me thinking about my own will and planning, so interested in this for myself as well.

I realize a lawyer is going to be needed. Just looking for a primer on the whole process to help understand what to do and where to start. Thanks!

What documents does one need upon parent’s death?

Hello! My family is in Maryland. My parents have a will. I am not sure it was filed with the Register of Wills or not, or where it was filed. It is an old will, and was written up by a lawyer they knew years ago, who is long deceased.

I’m curious what documents my family will need once my parents die. My parents have the will at their house (somewhere? My niece had it out, and my dad has been “organizing”). Should my sister and I have copies of the will? Is it possible to call the Register of Wills to see if they have it on file there? I’m assuming we will need to open an estate once both parents have passed, correct?

Not trying to be dark. Just trying to be prepared, especially with one family member who is trying to angle to get added to the will, who my parents do not want to add.

Solar on narrow city house

Hello! I’ve often wanted to get solar on my house, but I’m not sure it makes sense for me for the following reasons:

1- Live in the Mid-Atlantic, so not as sunny as CA or the SW
2- House is narrow, roof gables face east/west.
3- Smaller City yard with a garage with a metal roof
4- most appliances are gas (stove, water heater, dryer, furnace)
5- house does not have 220 electric, since most appliances run on gas
6- in a historic district, would need approval

Does solar make sense, given the situation here?

Davis vision insurance through Carefirst- worth it or useless?

Hello! I have Carefirst health insurance, and have not purchased the dental or vision coverage in the past, as it doesn’t seem to be that useful. My husband is having some issues with his cornea, and I’m now wondering if I should get him that insurance. It doesn’t sound like it provides much however.

What’s your experience here? Thanks!

Preventing bad smell from indoor line drying

I line dry most of my clothes to keep them in good shape. However, when we are not using heat or air-conditioning, some of the clothes can often dry too slow and get a funky smell.

I’ve considered drying clothes outside, but not sure if birds would poop on them, since we have many birds around and a tree in the yard that takes up almost all of the yard

How do you all prevent this funky smell from occurring? The airing racks are in the basement by the washer and dryer. My solution for now is machine drying the thicker items when possible, but this doesn’t work for some items like sweaters

I know a lady who is unfortunately facing eviction. Through a series of unfortunate events, she lost her SNAP benefits, and is paying 100% of her income for housing. Which is why she fell behind. English isn’t her first language. She has section 8 housing, but her rent is still slightly more than her monthly disability check. She and her son recently went to the office to update her income, as I’m not sure they realized she is currently disabled with low vision

I’m wondering if anyone knows resources to help her catch up on her rent. The CAP center said that program just closed, and I heard Catholic Charities is overwhelmed at the moment. I’m working on helping her get her SNAP benefits back. But I’m no expert and would love some direction! My hope is that I can help her get the right benefits and she can be more secure.

I’ve started a new set of lessons, and one thing the instructor in the video said is about flipped r’s. He is talking about all r’a that are not trolled. Apparently one is supposed to lightly touch the back of the teeth once while saying the R. Is this just in mainland Spain (like the lisping) or is this for all Spanish speaking countries?

It’s hard to learn! Partly because so many video in results assume you want to learn the trill R
