Drug it out yesterday, can’t wait to get it home tonight.

69 v8 3 on tree. Had to agree to haul the Tercel to the scrapyard in the deal.

Rust free. Pedal and floor look like a true 70k truck. The small dents and dings can be easily massaged at home.

3 of the brakes are seized, I foresee hammering, cussing and sweating!

The tractor was helpful in getting the old shed off of it.

1936 Oldsmobile Business Coupe

This car has 41,200 miles on it, complete, original find. Was sitting in a warehouse on Massachusetts since the 80s. I have started to clean it up and replace parts as needed. It is so much fun to drive. Wanted to keep it as is but the interior is just too ratted. I think I'm going to restore the interior and clear over the original "paint"

Interesting - Split Window

Don’t know too much about cars, but have heard about split window Corvette being pretty valuable. I work as a local handyman and my client has this sitting in her garage. These are the only pictures I have. Any shot you guys can identify it and do you think it’s worth trying to buy off of her? I’m guessing it was her husband’s who passed away a while ago.

23 years under a cover.

In 2010, I found this 1953 Bentley R-Type in a barn while buying a pinball machine. It sat there for 23 years before I was able to buy it in 2013.

It was originally ordered by a Baronets in Britain. A US serviceman brought it back to the US in the late 80’s and parked it in the barn. He never returned for it.

After ordering a key, mystery oil in the cylinders, a gas tank flush and a battery, it fired right up.

I drove it for four years before losing it in a divorce. This was by far the most fun car I have ever owned.

Barn find "sending his son to college."

I read an interesting article about a car collector sending a family member to college. Knowing his dad is a car enthusiast, he gets a phone call from his son saying that he was talking to another student, and he knows where there is an unusual-looking, possibly a “concept car,” I think maybe a Buick ... maybe, the car has been sitting for a while.” I THINK!

Like me, this father will beat the bushes, follow up on all roomers, lies and stories.

But he says to his son, “Just In Case,” do some investigating, and don’t forget to send lots of photos, which he did.

It turned out he purchased this, a one-of-a-kind Buick four-door concept car of the 60s. All through a casual yak at school. In the end, he was the proud owner of this unique car that people thought was lost through time.

The conclusion to that story is: you never know where you will find your next barn find. There are many collectors out there with sore necks looking for their next overhaulen project." Just like me.

The best places to find your treasures are word of mouth, be observant, ask around and follow up on all rummers and lies.”

""" Oh yeah, the old guy says, I know where there is one of them sitting. """ It could be just that easy.

"I can say old guy because I am old."

Barn Finds Are Not Necessarily Found In Barns

For many years, I was an emergency road mechanic. The point being, it took me too many places, such as farmers fixen their tractors, to heavy equipment in some bush in northern Ontario.

You get to see a lot of abandoned vehicles in your travels, 'where you would not expect to see them.'

After the war, there was an abundant supply of military equipment for sale. Farmers and loggers would buy anything with tracks, and when they stopped working, "in many cases," they were abandoned right where they died. The Legion in Huntsville, Ontario, displays a Bren gun carrier that was dragged out of the bush and restored by volunteers. It was originally abandoned. Read more stories at this link 🔗

Scored a 1951 MG-TD

A couple of days ago a barnfinder friend told us about a guy who knew where there was a British car of some sort. Short story shorter we talked to the guy who took us out to see what was there. Turned out to be a 1951 MG-TD in remarkable shape thanks to having been stored inside, out of the weather since 1973. As seen in the photos the paint is beyond repair, but we can paint it in my shop and the only rusted hole is about the size of my pinky finger just by the right side front headlight bar mount.

The hole on the right fender is seen in this photo

Mileage is believed accurate if true, given reasonable maintenance it should come back to life easily

Paint is toast.

More crunchy paint

This is going to be a fun project to dig in to.

More crusty paint and the worst rust in the entire car. Other than this bit the entire car is virtually rust free.

Jowett Javelin PB Deluxe (1952). New Zealand.

I have a long history with this beast going back to 2008.Ended up buying it in a package deal in 2020. My late landlord had it first..but the problematic gearbox saw it stand again..after he'd thrown cash at it.
