People who write "ect" instead of "etc".
For some reason this really annoys me!
"Etc" is an abbreviation for the Latin phrase Et Cetera which means "and the rest"
Those VW ID Buzz vans. What's so special about them?
Round my way every tradie and his dog seems to be driving one of these. I know they look pretty cool but are they particularly cost effective or what?
The local foxes have worked out how to open the locked lid on our food waste container. Driveway awash with mouldy stinky slurry this morning!
reddit.comMy printer changed its name!
I have a Deskjet 2450. It's years old, I can't even remember when I bought it. It's been 99 percent reliable just had to change ink cartridges and once clean the connectors on the print head.
But then yesterday I went to print something and I got "printer not available". I went through the normal fault finding process, power cycle printer, reboot router, even uninstalled and reinstalled the HP "smart" software. Nothing. Finally in desperation I clicked the "install new printer" button and it found my printer. It showed the name of the printer as "Deskjet 2540" followed by a number. This was a different number to the original one from before.
The printer is now working quite happily but what could have caused this? I can only think some kind of firmware update?
Got a new wireless doorbell. Looks like a neighbour has one too, I keep getting "phantom" rings.
The only upside is that they will be getting them too!
Two old guys at a classic car meet
In front of a pristine Morris Minor owned by one of them.
Guy 1. "So how's your car now you finished restoring it?"
Guy 2 (the owner) "yes it's great. Drives like a new car."
Guy 1 "What did you do about the smashed Speedo?"
Guy 2 "yeah got a second hand reconditioned one. Tell you something, the petrol gauge on it is really accurate. When it says Empty, you run out!"
Went into McDonald's today, ordered on the touch screen and the printer actually worked!
reddit.comNew App
My wife has a Fitbit. She has the app on her iPhone. She's a complete technophobe.
She told me this morning she couldn't find the Fitbit app on her phone. It appeared to have vanished.
I did a bit of research and found out about the Google takeover and app migration.
I found the Google health app and opened it.
It only shows data for the last 3 days.
Further research tells me that she should have "migrated" to the new app before this forced change over. She doesn't even have a Google account as far as I can tell so I created one for her.
She hates the new app and must say that compared to the old one, it sucks!
Is there any way of recovering her historic data?
Drivers of ten years or more experience. If you had to take your driving test again tomorrow with no notice or prep time, do you think you would pass?
Me? I reckon not, I'm bound to have picked up some bad habits without even realising!
"Yeah, one of those places where you can catch Chlamydia just by walking on the beach"
One side of a phone conversation.
I soooo want to know where he was talking about!
"Parts of London are under Shakira law, you know!"
Just a random conversation between two girls in their late teens or early twenties.
No idea of the context that's all I heard as they walked past.
In a hurry, picked up a box without checking (box of 10. What happened to a dozen?). When I got it home there were only 8 eggs in the box. Somebody had nicked two eggs!
