I love @oliviasaurusrex (instagram) because she speaks very calmly and has an authentic approach to her reviews. Most beauty influencers seem to be a bit screamy, and it’s hard to find influencers who look like me (east asian) while also being honest and pleasant to listen to.
Do you guys have any recommendations? Bonus points if they post on instagram (I don’t use Tiktok). Feel free to mention any people with the same vibe even if they aren’t Asian though. Starving for chill makeup content
turns out the singe and Prada products were PR so no money wasted, and in the actual video she concedes that these products weren’t bad per se, just don’t suit her preferences or not worth the price. interested in people‘s opinions if this strategy could come back to bite her, especially going after a small indie brand like singe. the video title and thumbnail imply the singe palette and lashes were crap. sure its a way to get views as people are probably interested to hear what might finally be an honest review of a beauty gurus brand not just Angie’s friends gushing over the palette, but is the bait and switch going to gain a long term following and could she be making herself a bit of a pariah in the beauty guru space by going after a creators brand just to get views by seeming contraversial?
Maybe you guys missed the 57283 tiktoks that Amelia Liane already posted of her wedding before she even could reveal her husband.... but hey everyone MUST KNOW she is a wife now.
What I don't get is: this woman must have spent a good amount of time of her wedding day posing for stupid tiktoks instead of enjoying the day. It's like she only married for the content...and of course the big money of her husband. The only thing which I cant see in all these videos is LOVE. Love that must have been the reason for this wedding primarely. Convince us that you are in love Amelia, not that you have money. We know that by now!
I feel like every new foundation, primer, concealer, skin tint, or setting spray is being out there as more than just makeup now. It is always sum like “barrier supporting,” “skin loving,” “hydrating,” “brightening,” “with niacinamide,” “with peptides,” “with hyaluronic acid,” or “infused with skincare.”
At first I thought that was a good thing but now it feels like brands and influencers are using skincare language to make every makeup product sound like it is doing something extra. I don’t even know if my skin wants all of that. If my serum already has niacinamide and my moisturizer has barrier ingredients and then my primer or foundation and concealer also have “active” ingredients, am I actually helping my skin or just layering a bunch of trendy ingredients because the markting sounds smart?
I miss when makeup was just allowed to be good makeup. Good shade range, good wear time, nice finish, doesnt separate and doesn’t break me out. That should be enough.
Do you think skincare makeup hybrids are useful or is this just the new markting angle brands realized people respond to?
What do you want to achieve this month? It could be a no buy/low buy, panning products, work projects, self help, or even health goals! Let us know so we can cheer you on!
If you are know for your “transparency” you should be able to properly disclose your ads.
Beauty content creator. Her posts typically go viral and the hashtag #pilotbae has become associated with her, due to her being candid about her love life and escapades. She has been in recent drama where her ex fiancées new girlfriend called her out for still sleeping with him and trying to get him to leave the new girlfriend. Since then she has multiple posts about stalkers and people attacking her online. Just wanted to know your overall thoughts.
One of the people highlighted in Kiki Chanel’s recent video has posted a tiktok saying that shes gotten a lot of hate as a result of her inclusion in Kiki’s video. I just think that was irresponsible of Kiki to spotlight not even influencers but regular people. I get she’s trying to talk about overconsumption but at this point it feels like she’s preaching to the choir? Her audience already knows overconsumption is bad and goes after the people in the video.
Let's talk about your daily skincare routines!
What's your current skincare routine, either before makeup application or after? What are your current holy grail products?
Bonus question:
What is a recent skincare item you've discovered that you hated?
It comes out 7/9 I fear. Featuring a palette, loose setting powder (five shades available), face primer & setting spray.
Is it just me or is this going too far?
Dr Haver is a respected physician who shares a lot of valuable information. Maybe she is does a few sponsored posts to make a buck. Im fine with that.
Mrsderm - checks notes - married a Dr, has no medical or scientific training and is going after a respected Doctor???
It’s tacky, unproductive and not a good look for her.
I’ve noticed that so many ppl will post their skin prep without sunscreen. They don’t even allude to applying it off camera.
They swear up & down on certain skincare items & having good skin but skip spf?? It just makes me cackle
I’m not the best w spf myself but even I know it’s like the #1 thing
Hi! I used to be a big fan of Michelle Phan. Why did she stop her podcast? Is she still in a cult? Has anyone noticed how religious she has become lately (according to instagram)
Summary of the video:
Naomi Jon explains that the company producing her album boxes, vinyls, and CDs for her "Strawberry" album went bankrupt after she'd already sold everything out. Since the company owes her money but went bankrupt, she won't be receiving any of those profits, which she'd planned to use to fund her recent European tour and pay her team. She paid around €45,000 in production costs upfront and is now out that money entirely. Rather than ask for donations, she's directing fans to a new merch collection on her site as the way she's trying to raise funds to pay her team for their work.
Idk chat, this whole thing feels weird to me. She's operating as a business, and paying her team is ultimately her responsibility, not her audience's. I don't know exactly how self-funding a tour works in the music industry, but relying on one single supplier to cover production, the tour, and team payments seems like a risky setup regardless of whether it's common practice. Putting that responsibility back on fans feels a bit like emotional manipulation, even if unintentional. I do feel for what she's going through, genuinely, but I think her first priority should be finding a way to pay her team directly: cutting costs, posting on YT everyday to get revenue from ads, restructuring the business, etc. It shouldn't fall on her audience to absorb a business risk that was hers to manage.
I personally don't like her music but I respect her for pushing through and investing all her money into that. But if this passion/business doesn't allow you to save any money for rainy days, then maybe it's time to let it go...
Hi everyone!
I’m trying to find a female YouTuber I used to watch a few years ago, but I can’t remember her name.
What I remember:
She made a lot of videos recreating celebrity and Pinterest outfits (especially Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, etc.).
After every outfit, her boyfriend and her best friend would rate the looks. This was a recurring format on her channel.
She also made closet declutter / wardrobe clean-out videos.
Her editing style included funny meme clips, especially Love Island-style reactions.
At some point, she stopped making fashion content and mostly switched to book-related content (BookTube/reading videos).
I don’t remember if she was Australian or British, and I don’t remember her username. I think it wasn’t her real name, but a unique username.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
