[SOTC] Chilling at a nice plateau

Reached a happy resting place. Fifty Fathoms and Daytona get 80% of wrist time.

Not really interested in anything else for now despite always reading/watching reviews and new releases. Feels nice to be satisfied at least for now. Waiting for Omega to update the Seamaster or Tudor to make a thinner BB58 without the gilt. Could also take the plunge to a full gold Daytona eventually.

Bought and sold along the way: No Date Sub and White Speedy

Help! How do I remove links from an X-71 bracelet?

I recently picked up a used, blue 5010, and need to switch out a link. The screws are on the back of the links, but when I attempt to loosen them, they do nothing but spin. The nearest BP AD is two hours away, and I doubt local watchmakers have much experience dealing with these bracelets.

I love the watch, but Blancpain loves to make simple things so damn difficult.

Any advice would be much appreciated, many thanks.

Thoughts on Ceramic

I am sure a lot of you have seen this, but this is an attractively priced ceramic, but there are chips in a couple lugs.

My heart says yes. Head says ceramic is too brittle.

Just for fun

Bought the Swatch x FF. Waiting for rubber strap to see how I like it. This black one actually looks really cool. They should make a proper version in ceramic.

Recent pick up

This is not my first Blancpain. I owned a Leman 40mm chronograph big date for many years and even ordered and waited 30 months for a X71. I also had a FF no rad during the big case fad. This one is working right now on a couple different straps.

I have an opportunity to buy this watch for $12k, no warranty. Like new. Should I?

The new 6654 in steel. Title says it all. It's in excellent working condition, but I don't think the warranty is valid.

Alternatively I would get a silver datejust (I know, totally different).

[5010 Fifty Fathoms] Some shots of my new summer daily

Replaced the 124060 Submariner and giving my 116 Daytona a run for its money as a daily.

Would skip the bracelet. Feels pretty bloated on the wrist and no microadjust is extra inconvenient because you need special tools to adjust any of the links properly that apparently only the ADs have. Also the butterfly clasp kept getting stuck in the gaps between the links whenever I took the watch off. Diver bracelet shouldn’t have butterfly clasp to begin with.

Tropic rubber strap is excellent. Great texture details and really light and comfortable on the wrist. Hated the Omega OEM strap for my white Speedy and Rubber B on my Sub. This is way better.

Watch wears way smaller than 42mm but it’s a thick boy. Also not forget-you’re-wearing-it light like the RLX Yachtmaster or Pelagos 39. Has some weight to it because of the movement and all the sapphire on dial, caseback and bezel.

Shhh…

It’s taking a nap on one of many strategically placed silicone coasters I have around the house. It never just gets “set down”

42mm in titanium on the rubber strap with Germany clasp. This watch is so perfect for me!

Strap quality abysmal

I wonder how difficult it is to produce a strap that survives more than two wears. Extremely upset over the quality of the stuff which is so expensive. What are the options here? The strap is Blancpain original sailcloth type for AquaLung Big Date.
