Last night in Breckenridge, CO. This dude is smoooooth.

I’m pretty sure this guy/gal has a lot of experience opening truck doors. They got a bag of dill pickle sunflower seeds and bit a can of Jumex juice. Not the slightest bit of damage or a scratch. We were literally on the back porch 40 feet away at the time.

Drone Show

Advertised as the inaugural from show and celebration of both US 250th anniversary and Colorado anniversary. Biggest disappointment for 4th of July I’ve ever experienced. Show was ~50% advertisements, slow moving images. Followed by Parking garage with no direction or coordination to keep cars off, turning it into a carbon monoxide public health hazard.

Lock your truck doors!

I have a ring video of this beautiful, sleek black bear opening my truck door tonight up at Warriors Mark. He got himself a bag of dill pickle sunflower seeds.

Should we still make the trip?

My family and I are annual vacationers in Breckenridge for the past 5 years now. Family of 6, two adults 4 teens from KY. We’ve been tracking the fires for a couple days now, and as one would assume with the conditions in the area, they seem to be getting worse. We’re avid hikers and love exploring all the trails in the area, and plan on spending the vast majority of our time outdoors. We’re not familiar with the surrounding areas, and tbh clueless if the Willow fire could result in Breckenridge being evacuated, but we’ve never visited under these circumstances. Should we still make the trip or call an audible?

Lodging in Breckenridge

Hello, last year a group of us (6) went to Keystone and stayed at an Airbnb that was a 5 minute walk from the base. Next year we would like to go to Breckenridge around February. The general idea would be arrive Wednesday, ski Thursday, take a rest day and explore the town Friday, ski Saturday, and leave Sunday.

The only thing we really want in out of lodging is a walkable distance to the base. Any recommendations or hidden gems would be greatly appreciated.

Tourists, this shouldn't need to be said but DO NOT bring fireworks for the holiday

Not so much as a cute little fire in the backyard of your STR. If you do the locals with hunt you down and gut you like a fish

Fishing at Maggie Pond?

Hey everyone. Does anyone know the fishing regulations for Maggie Pond? My daughter really wants to go fishing and I have fly fishing stuff and conventional. I used to catch a ton at Maggie Pond when I was a kid (30 years ago) with a tiny trout looking Rapala. Is Maggie still a good spot? Any other recommendations for a little kid would also be welcomed. Thank you.

Copper Mountain wedding

Hey there! I’m in a wedding at the top of Aerie on copper mountain next month. I’m from CT and I’ve never been to Colorado nor this high in altitude before. My doctor offered to prescribe me Diamox, does anyone here have any experience with this and if so, do you recommend for the altitude sickness? Thanks! :)

What is the deal with $4.57 gas at 7-11 in breck?

What a terrible look for Breck since gas in the county is around $3.50 or less. 7-11 is a total shit hole too. Pretty sure the inside has never been cleaned.

Dire need — stranded in Breck

Hi all, my friend and I are working at Adam’s Camp in the Rockies for the summer but have a little time off to explore and after we hiked Mt Quandary and had dinner in Breckenridge Saturday night, my friends car broke down. Everything was closed on Sunday, and now her car is not even able to get fixed till Tuesday. We are running out of options and it’s getting expensive.

We need a place to stay tonight very badly. We can cook in exchange, or clean, but we are exhausted and just looking for options.

Also if you are a mechanic and happen to see this please dm me lmao. Getting desperate!!!

How does Tahoe compare to Breckenridge / Summit County in the summer?

Our family lives in the South and we go to Colorado every summer to beat the heat and spend some time hiking and play outdoor and do all the things you do there. We typically stay in Summit County but spend time all over the front range and a little time up north.

We’re thinking about switching it up next summer and trying either Tahoe, Banff, Maine, or Montana. Tahoe is high on my list, and wondering if anyone who has been time in the summer in both Tahoe & Summit County could share some thoughts about how they compare? Different vibe? Different things to do? Crowds, costs, food? We’re pretty adventurous and our kids are in elementary school through junior high if that helps. Thanks!!

Realistic advice needed: how bad is altitude in Breckenridge for a 64F with occasional high BP?

Hi everyone! looking for honest opinions here like I worry a lot and might be over thinking it but wanted to see your realistic thoughts.

We’re planning a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado for 4th of July and will be driving in from Denver (so a fairly quick jump up in elevation). We’re expected to arrive around 11AM and I’m trying to get a realistic sense of how hard the altitude might hit my mom.

She’s 64, generally healthy, but does have occasional high blood pressure sometimes when she wakes up in the morning. She’s not super athletic but also not sedentary. She also is not medicated for it since she usually gets it in the morning if anything and when she goes to the doctor her BP is normal.

I keep reading mixed things online - some people say it’s totally fine, others say they felt really sick the first 24–48 hours. I just don’t want any like random health complication to come up I’m just really nervous

We’re trying to keep the trip relaxing, not overly packed, so I want to make sure we’re setting realistic expectations for her.

Appreciate any honest input from people who’ve done this drive or brought older family members up there.

Time to return to skiing?

I’m considering THR in mid-August but wondering if I can ready to ski within 4 to 5 months? Any skiers out there with stories to share? How long did it take to get back on the mountain? Can I expect to be skiing again within a few months if I’m strong going in and crush the rehab?

What to do in Summit County over the Fourth of July? Thanks!

Hi everyone! My family is heading up to Summit County for the long 4th of July weekend, and we’re staying in Dillon. It’ll be me, my husband, and our 2-year-old.

We really want to experience the mountain holiday magic, but having a toddler means we have to be smart. We are trying to balance seeing some fun events in Dillon, Breck, Frisco, or Vail while strictly avoiding nightmare parking situations, massive bottleneck crowds, or breaking the bank.

Locals and high-country veterans, what are your best tips for us? A few specific questions:

  • Parades: I know Breck and Frisco both have big Main Street parades. Is one of them easier to navigate with a stroller, or significantly less chaotic for parking?
  • Toddler-friendly activities: Are there any quieter, low-key morning events (pancake breakfasts, parks, or light walks) where a 2-year-old can run around without getting trampled by crowds?
  • Evening Plans & Logistics: Since we are staying right in Dillon, is it easier to just stay put for the evening? I heard rumors about a drone show in Breck, is that worth attending? What's the scene usually like around the Dillon Marina or Amphitheater on the 4th?
  • Vail? Is it worth driving over the pass for the day, or should we just stick to Summit County?

Any insider strategies on where to park, what times to completely avoid the roads, or hidden gem spots to watch festivities would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you so much!
