Less than 3 weeks to go. Who else is getting hyped?

What are your realistic hopes for this season?

Personally, I'm already looking ahead to next season and beyond. The 2027 recruiting class is stacked. I want to believe something magical will happen this year, but I've been saying that for 15+ years now, and we all know how the football program loves to disappoint.

The only reason I have hope for something inspiring to happen this season is because God apparently has a twisted sense of humor, so of course when my expectations are at rock bottom and I'm expecting nothing, something good is bound to happen.

Seriously though, I would feel so much better about the future of the football program if one or more of these things happen:

  • Matt Rhule improves his clock/game management. (e.g. Don't burn 2 timeouts back-to-back if you're just going to punt the ball away.)
  • Nebraska gets a ranked win (while the team is currently ranked, not a "they ended the season ranked" technicality).
  • Nebraska gets a come-from-behind win.

The schedule is tough this year. I'm not expecting a bowl game. I just want to see the team play hard, not give up the instant something bad happens, demonstrate perseverance, and most of all stop going out of the way to shoot themselves in the foot.

Deferred judgment for speeding ticket?

I got a speeding ticket in Louisville. It's my first time getting a speeding ticket in Colorado.

I'm not looking to fight the fine, but I would like to avoid a conviction that lands on my driving record and affects my insurance.

I've only ever had one other speeding ticket in Texas. There, it was super easy to get a deferred judgement, take a driver safety course, and after 6 months without another infraction the charge would be dropped, and therefore not picked up by my insurer.

Is that a thing in Colorado? Can I do something similiar?

Rock Shelter With a Built-in Chimney

Found this backpacking spot nestled in a crevice near the top of Bald Mountain in Colorado. I thought the built-in chimney that wraps up around the corner was especially impressive.

🔥 Orca Rams a Sunfish So Hard It Explodes

>Ayres and her co-authors documented this "stabilize-and-ram" behavior in a paper published Thursday.

"Seeing a large animal burst into fragments looks shocking," says study co-author Erick Higuera, a marine biologist at Conexiones Terramar.

But "it isn't 'crazy' or 'cruel,'" he says, but rather "highly specialized biology."

"We think this may help younger orcas feed more easily — or it could also just be for fun," Ayres says. "Orcas are known for playing with their food."

Edit: Jesus, sorry for not being chronically online and for just seeing this video for the first time today. Sorry someone pissed in all y'alls cornflakes this morning.

Glassdoor is a dead tool

Glassdoor has been useless for a long while now IMO, but now that it’s part of Indeed any semblance of being a transparent source of feedback for workplace culture is gone.

The only thing worse than having a job is not having a job, and it’s damn near impossible to sus out all the red flags when you’re desperate to land any job that you can, even when you have 7 rounds of interviews to do it. Glassdoor used to be a great supplemental tool to gauge what kind of shitstorm you could be walking into. It keeps getting tougher out there. American work culture sucks.

Close encounter up Miners Creek Road

We stumbled upon this bull moose about 2 miles up Miners Creek Road. He passed by within arm's reach of the window.

The silver lining to Dillon Reservoir being so low right now, it’s an opportunity to cleanup

I paddled out to the exposed island off the east shore of Sentinel Island. I found an anchor just below the waterline. I pulled the chain and was able to drag a sunken buoy out of the water. I was ill equipped to transport it back in my kayak this trip, but I left it near a sandy landing spot next to a big boulder for the next one. I did take back a selection of busted boat propellers and other trash.

Frisco "Marina"

Two different perspectives from today's bike ride. There's an exposed stretch of road I've never seen before that extends into Lake Dillon. It's unsettling to see the lake this low.

How much leakage is normal?

I have a 2002 Wrangler TJ with a Hardtop. It snowed recently the first time since I bought it. I didn’t think anything about letting the snow just melt off naturally, but this morning it was soaked on the inside.

As best I can tell the top is intact without a crack. I believe all the interior weather proofing (the rubber seals) is in good condition. So I don’t know for sure where a leak could be?

Is it just to be expected that letting snow melt on the car will result in a water seeping through into the interior?

I purchased a used 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ. The previous owner included this contraption with the vehicle. I bought it from a dealer, and they had no idea what it was either.

I've tried to figure out how it would fit into the rear end. There are bolt holes that seem to line up, but I don't have the hardware for it.

I've also tried describing it to AI, but that was going nowhere.

Anyways, I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. Thanks in advance.
