Getting my ducks in a row

Before I confront the SM, I'd like to get all my ducks in a row, as far as merch coming in the back door.

When the pallets roll off the truck and are scanned by the driver, these pallets are NOW at this time, in our inventory??? Is this correct???

So if we have say 8 pallets of unprocessed shoes, and 6 blue bins of un processed clothing, this mdse is in our inventory, and theoretically needs to be scanned for MD's. Which it obviously can not. In turn this would put our MD% in the toilet. Correct???

My thoughts are if it's a mens/kids M/D week coming up, this mdse should be priority. Or whatever dept has M/D that Sunday.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated..

Rant: why do they never follow your availability?

So i called last week since they put me on a 11:45am-3:45pm shift (my availability is after 4:30pm since me and my mom share a car, since mine broke) and i told them my availability. I get my schedule for next week today and they scheduled me for 4pm-8pm 💀 i dont have my boss's number and i really dont wanna have to call the store again. Like i dont understand why this keeps happening.😪 at this point imma just so up late. Its on them, my availability is on the app already so i dont know what else i can do lol

Writing a “confession”

Rant: so there’s a rogue dapm making employees write confessions for HR and suspending them.

their crime? purchasing or selling 25 cent items

they are wasting time generating a list of 25 cent purchases and i guess watching all of them just to suspend some low paid workers over a holiday.

as punishment for buying “illegal” candy

so no holiday pay for you, peasant.

pls share your thoughts if you have any or if you are also experiencing this in your area.

it’s wild out here

to keep in mind:
sales: 11.55 billion, up 8-11%
profits: income up 21% to $610 million
expansion: “aggressive”

Closing on Sales Floor/Rant

The past two days for the closing shift we have only had 2 people on the sales floor (usually we would have 3 for weekday nights and 4 for weekends) and I was wondering if other stores have moved down to 2 as well? Since it has happened 2 times now, I am assuming it is not due to someone calling out last minute although that could be the case. From things I've heard on this reddit, I am guessing it is a corporate decision/not enough hours being granted because just how ridiculous it is. For context, the store I work at is 30,000 square feet, so it is BIG.

Anyway last night, there was 2 people on floor (me being one of those 2 people), with the other person being roped into helping one of my supervisors on a task in clothing (not sure what it was). Now 2 people alone on floor is bad enough on a regular day, but of course corporate is coming tomorrow so everything had to look perfect for them. Not only did did I have to take care of the perimeter, but I also had to take back most of the clothing go-backs too and my manager wanted me to work on 4 endcaps of which I only finished 2 because of how long everything else took. At the end I didn't even have time to pick up the (again) trashed floor including the clothing areas because we were out of time and my coworker & I "needed" to pick up the queue to make it look nice. I wasn't able to leave until an hour after my shift ended. (remember we have 30,000 square footage in our store)

I am so grateful to be blessed with good management & coworkers (my manager was helping with endcaps) but corporate is absolutely losing it oh my gosh - I've had annoyances & bad times with Burlington in the past but this one really takes the cake

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT - needed that rant but realizing now just how insanely lucky I am at my store - ty for all for the insights!

I honestly thought it was normal for at least a couple people to be on the sales floor especially with a similar store size as the one I work at - i was clearly wrong 😭

Starting to think full-time isn’t worth it for me

Lately I’ve been realizing that if my part-time hours stay around the 20–30 hour range consistently, I don’t think I’d take full-time anymore. Full-timers at my store seem to average around 36 hours, and for me that extra few hours doesn’t always feel worth sacrificing flexibility and recovery time. I actually like having the possibility of 3 days off sometimes instead of 2. Anyone else feel this way or change their mind about FT?

Question (New Employee)

I just got hired last week and was scheduled for a day I wasn’t supposed to work b/c of my availability and called the store about it and my manager said it was fine and she would see if anyone can take my shift and/or change my schedule. That was fine but I checked the ESS app and I’m still scheduled for that day and all of the other days she scheduled me for the next two weeks are gone and now it says “Schedule is not published for this week”. Should I be worried?

I just started working there and I don’t know

I don’t want to let anyone down, but I’m not sure if this is worth it. I worked in the back with stocking, putting tags on clothes and organizing them on hangers. I did that for seven hours and my feet started hurting. I messaged my boss and asked if I could get shorter hours on my next shift and he said they’ll adjust. They haven’t been adjusted yet. There was also a health violation I saw and when I mention it the manager said “We’ll take a look at it” and “Thanks for your feedback”. They pay is $10 an hour. This is a brand new location. Also, when my shift was over I asked for the sign out sheet. The other manager said she needs to look for it, but she kept working on the compressor. After a few minutes I left and clocked out on my phone. I haven’t even had the chance to be a cashier. I applied for the stocking position, but my manager said cashier would be best suited for me. On the grand opening I see that I’m doing compt work not cashier. Originally it was a 9 hour shift. I wasn’t spending 9 hours on my feet. That’s too much. That’s why I asked for shorter hours. My feet can’t handle it. They also don’t train you for the stocking position. On the only day I worked another employee had to teach me. I didn’t want to constantly ask the managers or supervisors because they have their own thing going on. From what I see it’s very disorganized.

Shoes

How do I get faster at flowing shoes? I only had my second shift yesterday, and I was flowing shoes to the floor for about half of it. I know I'm supposed to be taking 18 minutes, and it doesn't feel like I'm taking really long when I do it, but when I come back I find out that I'm spending like 28-40 minutes. I flowed accessories before with the girl I was training with on my first day, so of course that took much less time, but damn. How am I supposed to bring my time down on shoes? Honestly, half that time is spent just finding spots to put them because we have too many shoes and not enough space in certain size aisles. But idk if they're gonna tell me off about it or if they'll give me less shifts for it or what, so I wanna try to get my time down.

Burlington Interview

I have an interview at Burlington. I was just wondering what “group interview” meant. Like am I interviewing with other people or just being interviewed by multiple people. Thank you!

got the job offer but..

apologies for my format, i'm new to this. i applied to burlington, got a group interview (aced it) and was told i was going to be under the cashier role. perfect, i was looking forward to this and waited for a callback for orientation. a few days pass, i decide to call them and ask if there's any updates just to be told that it's pending because they fulfilled the position with too many cashiers. i'm upset because i missed another interview closer to home to attend this one and now i'm left with nothing. i was told i can don BOH but the times would be 5am till 6 pm. anyway, i know she didn't fully state i was hired but man, it's upsetting getting your hopes up thinking you'd get the job.

to those who do back of house, is it worth working that position? i'm also dealing with mental health issues and i'm not sure if it will affect me. any advice would be great. thank you.

Not getting my schedule until wednesdays

I work back of house, usually one shift a week on Thursdays. When I was hired, I was told schedules would come out on Saturdays. Well, last Saturday rolls around, and I check to see my schedule. No shifts for that week. I figured I’d check a few more times just in case there was an issue with the scheduling. I checked the app Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. By Tuesday I just figured I wasn’t working.

This past Saturday rolls around, and I check to see if I’ve gotten my schedule. Come to find out the scheduled me to work Thursday. They gave me ONE days notice in the middle of the week that I had a shift to work. Keep in mind there’s no notifications of this from the app. My life doesn’t revolve around this job. I am not checking the app every day of the week because whoever schedules me can’t figure out how to get their job done on time.

Schedules are supposed to come out on specific days for a reason. I have things that I cannot just cancel that I need to schedule around the times I work. I can’t sacrifice the doctors appointments that I genuinely need to stay healthy all because I can never be sure if I’m working or not.

Sometimes I truly wonder how this company is still in business.

Guys help

I giveaway shift and it says declined and it’s disappear from the original schedule.
So what is that mean? Did the manager just want to remove me for that day or do I still need to come?!

Just a psa

From an ex employee that left this year after 3 plus years with the company. Please stop thinking Burlington is going to be a legit source of income. Honestly you’re better off getting a side hustle. This company will drain all the life out of your body to feed their greed. They want you to push credit cards on customer, and if you look at the interest rate on it they should be ashamed. They will literally schedule you for 0-12 hours a week. If you don’t have your own transportation you are basically going to be paying to work there.
