Prices

Is anyone else’s store full of non priced items? Every other customer brings something to the register asking for the price because no one checked if it had a tag/sensor before putting it on the floor. I’m tired of running to the floor to find another one (no speedy sku use)
Sometimes it’s the last of an item and sometimes every one of them has no tags. Or they picked it up from a random spot.
The assistant manger would give me a random price for some of them which means we’re either under charging or over charging🤷‍♀️

Let’s talk about the temperature…

My manager says they put in daily request to temporarily lower the heat.. and that the DM has requested to put in daily tickets and notify them.. but according to them corporate rejects all tickets saying that the store is a steamy 74 degrees within company standards… however those set standards are just were the temperate zones read out and the actual feel of the stores in all other areas are sooo much hotter because their is no airflow mechanism to push the air around… it’s so hot that ppl are swamping in their cloths soaking wet… customers complain of the shopping experience… ppl feel headaches and nauseous.. but never mind the dripping sweat from everyone working and shopping…. How is this acceptable

I think I'm getting lied

So, long story short without too much detail, I tried quitting about a month ago, I told the SM that if they got me a certain amount of hourly, I would stay. Before my two weeks, the SM showed me a text that said that the hr manager had approved the raise. Th3 message was supposedly from the DM. Its been a whole week and there is nothing on workday showing that the raise is being processed. Is there any way that I could verify that they are actually working on it or did they just lie to my face?

Hi. Im BOH. I feel like something is going on with hours. My lead usually texts us the night before a shift confirming that we can work the next day. I had two shifts since this message was sent to us/ since the new app has been launched. Usually my lead asks me to stay for 45 min every shift, but hasnt. She hasn't texted us. I checked my schedule and nowwwww it's 0 shifts available. Wth is going on dude. Please don't do this 😭

Is it normal to have your first shift after orientation nearly three weeks after??

It’s been two days since my orientation at Burlington and I'm already confused. After we finished doing everything we needed to, they showed us around the building, clocked us in and out, and told us we'll get paid soon. When we asked when we would start, they said to keep an eye out on the ESS app and go from there. And later in the day it shows my first upcoming shift for July 22nd?? Am I missing something because that's way further than when I thought I would start working. That's the only shift I got for now, there's nothing else before or after the 22nd. There's been some cover shifts posted on the app but someone ends up beating me to it, is that my best shot to start working sooner?? I'm working back of house/receiving and I stated open availability and good for mornings since this Burlington is basically right by me. Any advice would be appreciated!

what should i expect?

i’m a teacher and I got hired as a part-time cashier, my availability is only weekends and nights on weekdays. I’ve read on here that you hardly get hours, with my availability being limited during the week am I going to have a hard time getting hours?

considering leaving not sure yet :/

I've posted on this subreddit before about not knowing what to do. I think I already worked for a good 2 weeks or so, obviously not full ones it was just like 3 or 4 days out of each week. the picture I added to this post is what I've been seeing and trying to get fixed so I can see my schedule I even showed the managers and they're confused as well. the last time I came in I asked again about what to do about the app the manager said she'll see what she can do then I haven't been called back after that. which sucks cause during the days I worked I actually enjoyed it and was getting the hang of things. But I'm starting to feel like I won't get called back in for a few days. I've been applying to similar stores yet its so hard to get in. I've already resubmitted my applications to Ross and DD's discount like 10 or 13 times as an example. Not sure if I should still hold on to hope that I get called in this weekend or at least next week but if not I'm probably going to quit. anyways does anyone else get this when they're new hires? I remember them telling me it was gonna last 2 weeks and it still won't work since the last day I worked was this Monday. also does anyone know where else to apply to I feel like I just keep applying to the same places over and over again.

I’m 3 shifts in and I’m about to quit

This will be my first ever Reddit post, but I need to blow off some steam. I have been reading this page since I got hired and was hoping I wouldn’t have the experiences a lot of you were having. I was wrong & I am livid.
When I got hired, I told them I had a planned trip and would not be able to work certain days. I wasn’t put on the schedule those days, but when I went to check if the next weeks schedule was posted, I noticed they added me the last day of my trip AFTER 9pm the day before. I called and reminded them I had a planned trip was told it was ok and they would take care of it. I noticed in the app I have a point from that day.
Now on to this week. I gave away a shift because of a personal reason, it was approved and everything was fine up until right now. Checking to see if they posted next weeks schedule and I see they added me back to the day of the shift I gave away for almost the same time… I’m so confused why they’re able to do this & I’m honestly pissed off! I’ve never ghosted a job in my life, but I am so close to blocking their number and never showing my face in that store again. I guess I just needed to rant, but I most likely will be quitting. I also will not be showing up to that shift.

Update: I no longer work at Burlington

So… I quit Burlington today for my own sanity. 😭
The funniest part is that even on my last day, they somehow still managed to waste my time. I walked in with my badge and resignation letter, asked if I could speak to a manager, and was told to wait. I waited around ten minutes before asking again if there was anyone I could speak to, whether it was a manager or a shift lead, because I didn’t feel right handing my badge and resignation letter to a regular employee.

I held up the badge and the letter and said, “I just need to give them these.”

She looked at me and asked, “An envelope?”

Girl… no. 😭 I was standing there with my badge in one hand and a resignation letter in the other. I don’t think I was there to hand deliver someone’s mail.

The second I said, “I need to resign,” suddenly a manager was available.

Anyways… my Burlington era lasted approximately four shifts. On to bigger and better things. I already have another opportunity lined up, so here’s hoping this next chapter is a much better fit.

Returns

As a cashier are you guys inspecting every item before processing a return? I feel like they don’t pay me enough to really care. If someone comes in to return something, I’m just processing and moving on

Heatwave

current New York weather has been above 90° and when i tell you this store refuses to turn the AC up. 😭 we were sweating like crazy in BOH for the past couple of days , and even the manager who came to help because we were understaffed was sweating her ass off.

in the three months i’ve worked here, the only time i’ve ever seen the AC blasting was when the higher-ups came for an inspection. and that “inspection” lasted all of two seconds. they walked in, looked around, looked us up and down, and left.

this store is a joke. i can overlook the minimum pay, the constant understaffing, and the fact that the place is always a mess, but not turning the AC up during a literal heatwave should be unacceptable. the bare minimum would be keeping your employees from overheating for a few days. but we’re talking about Burlington, so…

Burlington new jewelry counter

Seen this picture of one of the new Burlington jewelry counters and seem like they are trying to copy more of a tj maxx style? I’m curious if this is going to be implemented at all stores soon

I quit

officially quit on the spot right before my shift today because I am completely done dealing with this pathetic, brain dead excuse for a company. I already start a way better job this weekend.

If you are thinking about applying to Burlington, absolutely DO NOT WORK HERE. This place is a toxic trap designed to exploit you and stress you out. They will hire you under false pretenses, manipulate you, and then completely starve you out on the schedule, expecting you to somehow survive on a single 4-hour shift a week while they treat you trash. The management has zero respect for your time, your bills, or your sanity, and they actively use scheduling as a passive-aggressive weapon to punish people instead of communicating like adults. Do not waste a single second of your life letting these power-tripping managers walk all over you if they start messing with your hours, screw them over, leave them short-staffed, and walk the hell out.
