Home Candle makers - have you tried mixing waxes before?

So I currently make my candles using soy wax, but looking to change over to coconut-apricot wax. I read online that coconut-apricot is not good for pillar candles as they melt quicker - wondering if anyone has tried mixing this with eiter:

  1. Natural rapeseed & coconut wax, OR

  2. Soy wax

if yes, what were your results? Did it hold its shape?

Thanks!!

Fall candles. Safer ingredients

Hi everybody!

I’m looking for a cinnamon, apple, or pumpkin candle to welcome in the new fall season! However, I haven’t gotten candles in a VERY long time due to having two little ones and the concern for their safety and ingredients

Any recs on some great smelling fall candles that don’t contain super icky ingredients. I used to love BBW before kids but cannot justify it now!

Thank you!

How to uncover wicks?

I have this 3 wick candle that has somehow burnt unevenly and the wicks are tiny or covered. I’m not sure how to fix this without unevenly burning it again. Any help?

Any suggestions on real wood scented candles or wax melts?

I did a search already and have not found anything. I've been looking for that wood scent you get when you walk into Lowes or Home Depot's wood section. Not a pine or Xmas tree scented but something like a real Fir or cedar saw dust, almost the same scent you'd smell when you walk into a kitchen with new cabinets.

realistic fruit candles, burn them or keep them as decor?

got these two a while back and i still can't get over how real they look. my mum genuinely asked why there was a tomato sitting on the shelf. the wick comes out where the stem would be so when it's lit the whole thing kind of glows from the top.

the guava is the one that really got me though. pale green skin, pink flesh, tiny orange seeds down the middle. someone put actual effort into painting that.

both smell fruity and fresh, not that sickly candy sweetness i was expecting.

i keep them on a plate because these odd shapes drip in weird directions, and i trim the wick to about 5mm or the tomato starts sooting. problem is once you burn it the top caves in and the whole "it's a real tomato" illusion is gone. so mine have been sitting there unlit for weeks now.

curious what everyone else does with sculptural candles like these. feels like a waste either way honestly.

Is this candle safe to burn?

I was gifted two similar candles. They have a bunch of dried flowers and potpourri, along with stones. I am worried that the flowers will catch fire? Has anyone burned something like this before?

This might be the start of something...

I tried a Woodwick candle about a week back (White Teak), and absolutely fell in love with scented candles.

Since then, I made it a mission to hit up every Aldi, Walmart, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Village Discount Outlet, and Facebook Marketplace to find scents and candles that I loved. Just cruising and sniffing the candles like a mad person. The initial goal was to be picky and to have 10, you know, perhaps I will last through winter or so with those 10.

...Ended up with 52, and 15 are still coming through mails, including a candle warmer since 3 candles do not have wicks anymore (buried) but I still really loved their scents. Laying them here for a picture while I'm still sorting and organizing them to place on shelf.

Safe to say, I really overdid it...but so far, I'm loving it!

looking for honeydew melon yankee candle dupe!!

my family and i have been the biggest fans of the honeydew melon yankee candle for as a long as i can remember. unfortunately, it is discontinued. yankee candle used to bring it back to shelves once a year as a returning classic, however we have been unable to find it the past couple of years. i've looked online for the candle, but they're listed at very high prices. i was wondering if anyone knows any good dupes for this candle?? it would mean the world to me if anyone has any recommendations!!

Be kind as my ignorance is glaring: Are there any safe glitters to mix with beeswax? And why don’t people use scents and dye in beeswax? Thanks in advance!🩷

Well, my question is in the title. I’m just making candles at home for myself, my coven, my friends, & I don’t wish to cause any fire damage to anybody lol!

What candle scent did you think you'd hate but ended up loving?

Mine used to be anything that smelled too sweet. I always assumed those scents would get overwhelming really fast, but a few have completely changed my mind.

What's one you didn't expect to like?

Am I the only one to experience candle anxiety?

For some context, last year (August-the end of Setember)، I purchased 48 candles both single and three wick. Now, a year later, I have used them all. I know what some of you are going to say and please don't judge me. Right now, I don't have the funds to be able to buy more and I'm not looking for sympathy. I am simply curious if others have experienced the anxiety of not having enough candles and feel like you will never have enough?

Candle that's literally on fire

DO NOT RE-CREATE AT HOME I'M JS SHARING MY OWN STORY WHAT I DID WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE I REPEAT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RE-CREATE AT HOME

So I lit a scented candle

Wasn't getting the scent

So I dropped a bunch of matches in

Big flame (everything was safe dw no flammable stuff around)

I sat admiring big flame

Then noticed that neither the wick nor the matches were burning

The wax itself was on fire

Very big flame with more blue than expected

Me happy

Still no scent

At some point I noticed the glass (in which the candle wax was) cracking, so I decided to put it out

Tried blowing it out, didn't work

Suffocated it with the end of a monster can

Spiral smoke

THE SCENT FINALLY RELEASED

My room smells so heavenly rn

So yeah apparently jasmine candles released their scent after being extinguished, good to know

Now you know what my dumb ahh could've js googled instead of nearly setting the curtains on fire

Boy Smells Hinoki Fantôme… 1.0 vs. 2.0

For anyone that has or had been a fan of Boy Smells in the past, I would love your input. I was a HUGE Hinoki Fantôme fan. It was my day-to-day burn at home and in the office.
Then Boy Smells was saved from their financial troubles by new investors. They hired a new head of product development, Jessica Cattaneo, who reformulated everything—including Hinoki Fantôme. It’s now a shadow of its former self: no throw and not the same profile as before.
I’ve been searching to find something close, but no luck. Charcoal by Apotheke and Feu de Bois by Diptyque are great runners-up, but not the same. I’d love some recommendations from folks who knew and loved the original Hinoki.

New to candles but it feels like my candle should last longer

Not sure if I can name drop, but we have an American brand of candle company here (think ____ doodle dandy) and I tried them out and actually love them, there is a little 5€ / 37g one that I really like but it only lasts (I light it for maybe half an hour to an hour before bedtime while I am reading a book) maybe a week.
I love the smell, it lingers, but how long are they supposed to last? I get small ones at first until I'm sure I like the smell. Pumpkin spice season is on the horizon so I am shopping around a bit now

Dupe for my candle soulmate

Hi friends- has anyone happened to use this candle in the past & found a close dupe to it? It’s probably my favorite scent in the world, in the last 6 years i’ve never NOT had this candle. It’s so good on its own but also mixed so well with nearly any scent. It was discontinued last year & i’ve yet to find something that smells even similar. Even candles with similar notes aren’t the same & it honestly has me devastated more than i’d like to admit 🤣 When it was 1st discontinued I bought all the marked up resales I could find online & I’m nearing the end of my stock. If anyone has an idea I can offer the biggest forehead smooth & all of my gratitude 🫶🏼
