village candle a good yankee candle alternative?

village candle a good yankee candle alternative?

i worked at yankee in 2018 and since then it’s been a downward spiral. cheap wax. ai labels. insane prices. i always used to see village candle brand at my local grocery store and never tried them. anyone have experience with these? i love how they have that old country style label.

eilish no. 2 has grown on me… 4 years later

just wanted to give some input i guess. this was a blind buy 4 years ago and i wore it occasionally but never could really enjoy it all that much. my taste has changed a lot however, instead of opting for vanillas or citrus scents i’ve been reaching for earthy/ woody ones instead. i sprayed this today for the first time in probably over a year and was so amazed by it!! the palo santo/ black pepper notes are STRONG but the apple blossom and poppy flowers in the background balance it out really well. staying power is also really nice but mellows out well enough so it doesn’t turn into a headache for me, at least.

if you’re on the fence about this one, i’d say try a sample size first but it’s perfect for this time of year where i’m at when the weather is rainy and transitioning to fall :)

coleus and herbs

i got tired of petunias and lantanas crapping out on me mid season so i tried something different this year and i’m in love! i’m thinking about adding some ornamental grasses and maybe angelonia next year 🤔

bad flare that’s still causing dysfunction days later!

if you live in the eastern united states you probably know the humidity was higher here than the amazon rainforest last week! as people with pots, i know alot of us can’t even tolerate temperatures over 75 degrees. i went for a walk last week and noticed my heart rate was a bit higher than normal while just walking and suddenly my vision started going in and out, and so i did a panic a bit but managed to make it back home safely. when i check my apple watch i had a hr of 190bpm!!! do any of you get flares this bad from super light exercise like walking?? i see my cardiologist next week and i need to demonstrate just how horrible this condition has made me. i cannot drive, work or even sit upright for even brief periods of time anymore and it definitely worsened this past year. i’m still pretty anxious about this and have been avoidant of walking since, which is also bad because i do struggle with agoraphobia.

edit: i monitor my hr activity on an apple watch se2 if that helps

update: colorblaze coleus

this was the first year i skipped annual flowers and did an all foliage patio garden with coleus and herbs (turned out great as you can see.) my only issue is the ‘el brighto’ variety faded a bit over the season and the new growth is completely lacking the orange tones it once had (image 3.) i added some expert gardener plant food, so i’ll update if it bounces back. 🪴

this condition has my nervous system on high alert 24/7.

it’s also important to mention that i most likely have ptsd that needs to be officially diagnosed, after a traumatic incident a year ago, but i do notice my nervous system is incredibly fragile. standing, sitting up right, and bending down triggers thee absolute worst heart rate spikes. i also seem to have an intolerable for most medications, even recently failed lamotrigine and am struggling with hyperactivity on finasteride for hair loss. does anyone else feel like they’re constantly dysfunctional with meds not making much of a difference?

even the fun times were exhausting…

this may seem a bit dark but this past year i’ve been living with ptsd and obviously pots and i look back on my life the past 4 years. i noticed i was much more mobile, always had a job, always had activities i attended and yet i ended up where i am now, traumatized and can’t even drive myself places anymore. when i look back though, as depressing as it sounds i think i was ALWAYS struggling and chalked it up to be depression/ anxiety when a lot of it really was autonomic disfunction, causing even the better times to be overwhelming. sorry for ranting, but i guess i’m just reflecting and thinking out loud a bit.

i think i’ve always had pots to some degree but it was 2 years ago at a concert when i almost fainted that i realized something else might be seriously wrong because while i was gasping for air and overheated, everyone else around me was fine. back in may i failed a tilt table test and had an increase of 53bpm from supine to standing. my next appointment is late next month to discuss next steps and i’m just over it all at this point.

starting therapy for a 2nd time tomorrow and nervous

TW: DEATH

last summer i suffered a series of intense panic attacks while driving (i already have a history of panic disorder) and that august i witnessed the aftermath of what appeared to be a collision and i saw a man’s dead body. typically i’d consider myself desensitized to these things but because my nervous system was already on thin ice behind the wheel, i think it escalated into a full blown mental breakdown. i drove home, parked the car and haven’t touched it since. i tried therapy once already and it didn’t work out since the therapist specialized in children but refused to refer me to someone else. it’s been almost a year already and i rely on others for transportation, i get maybe 5-6 hours of sleep at night, i have vivid nightmares, and my emotional state is generally dis regulated. in addition to this, i was diagnosed with POTS which explains a lot of my previous anxiety and probably why this all so much more overwhelming. just venting.

earwigs are ruining all the fun.

i wanted to post some pics of my coleus i’m growing in patio containers this year but they’re starting to look rough from the earwig problem. neem oil is completely ineffective and i want to know if anyone has had success with things other than diatomaceous earth. i know it works well supposedly, i have some but it has to be reapplied after watering and with this heat, i don’t want to skip water. open to any suggestions.

lamictal/ lamotrigine?

i took my first dose of generic lamotrigine (25mg) last night and noticed today my usual symptoms seem to be exacerbated. heart palpitations and heart rate is skyrocketing like crazy just from standing.

weird feeling after one dose?

i’m very sensitive to medications and i recently discovered this is because i have pots. i took my first dose last night and noticed a little bit of burning in my legs but nothing serious. today i noticed my pots symptoms are much worse. horrible dizziness, shortness of breath and heart palpitations upon standing. could this be normal after one dose?

starting today

i’m starting lamictal today at the 25mg dosage. i went through a traumatic event late last year that has completely destroyed my fight or flight and while my doctor isn’t sure if i have bipolar, i definitely have mood swings and depression. long story short, i’ve seen a lot of horrible things about this med and i need some advice.

3 things i’ve noticed…

for me this is what i’ve noticed are the key components:

  1. being ALONE is a big component: today when i went out i was with someone and honestly? i was fine. i could handle the loud noises at target, the crowd at ulta and even the horrible attitudes that EVERYBODY seems to have now.

  2. the car is a big trigger: this all started when i had a massive panic attack while driving and still haven’t since. being in the car, even as a passenger feels suffocating and scary a lot of the time. i need to work on this.

  3. my POTS is playing a big role: the dizziness, breathlessness, adrenaline firing is linked to my recent diagnosis and this makes anxiety symptoms so so so so much worse. my low dose daily benzo keeps me from spiraling but it’s still uncomfortable.

i know this is more of a rant but if someone can relate i guess it’d be nice? idk if any of you have a similar experience or maybe this will make you want to pinpoint what’s causing it.

this popped up in my empty hanging basket about 2 years ago and it’s back again. (these are from last year.) i have no idea what this is and the plant id feature on my iphone hasn’t been helpful. any guesses? this is zone 7a. it almost never gets watered.
