The misleading fence painting gag from "Henhouse Henery"

"Henhouse Henery" was directed by Robert McKimson and premiered on July 2, 1949. In one scene, Foghorn paints a misleading image of what appears to be an open doorway between the fence walls. And well, you'll have to see it for yourselves. It's also the first Foghorn Leghorn cartoon where Foggy was singing "Camptown Races".

You'll have to excuse the scenes fading from and to Henery Hawk during the making this funny excerpt.

Here's to 77 years of "Henhouse Henery"!

How to make Cartoon Network Fridays work in the streaming era

Hey all! I’ve been feeling heavy nostalgia for Cartoon Network Fridays lately, particularly the era where Tara Sands was hosting with Tommy.

Tara & Tommy brought a fun sleepover energy that made it feel they were right there watching with you. These live person bumpers are certainly something missing when shows just “drop” in the streaming era.

While Fridays in the format as released between 2003-07 would never work with today’s kids, there are a few small format tweaks that could be made that could capture the spirit of Fridays to fit the streaming era.

1. Make the programming similar to the What a Cartoon Show.
In this era, if we want people to watch certain content, you gotta make sure the content isn’t more easily accessible somewhere else. To win over those not already a fan of the host skits, having brand new cartoon shorts that cannot be seen anywhere else would be the best chance of success. Having host segments between the different cartoon shorts would recapture the magic of Fridays.

2. Release it on HBO Max only (or another streaming service)
Watching live linear TV is not favored by most audiences of today. Having this content packaged in a streaming service is a must. The host segments in between cartoons would be an actual part of the show rather than commercial bumpers.

3. Release one episode per week (but it doesn’t need to be watched immediately after it drops)
This is a nice compromise so that streamers who are used to watching shows on demand can watch whenever they have time to do so.

4. Have the audience vote for their favorite cartoons (keep voting open for 4 days minimum)
As part of the host segments, the hosts should open up a voting line so the audience can vote for their favorite cartoons. Keeping the voting lines open for 4 days minimum will allow streamers who watch it a few days later to still vote from the most recent episode.

5. More interactive segments!
In order for the spirit of Fridays to be recaptured, the audience needs to feel that the host segments are unskippable and are just as part of the fun as the cartoons. Tie ins with social media, opportunities to ask questions to the hosts & fun minigames would keep the audience engaged even when cartoons aren’t playing.

I hope you enjoyed my idea on how to recapture the spirit of Fridays in the streaming era.

What do you Think of Boom Studios Era of Over the Garden Wall comics

That is my Question

As you know Boom Studios did Over the Garden Wall comics an ongoing like one comic miniseries and 3 original Graphic Novels had very good art for an all ages comic

Anyway what did you think of the Over the Garden Wall comics they put out specially the ones written by creator Pat McHale which can be considered canon I guess and Jim Campbell art I been reading for years the dude is usually coloring so him doing the art was a nice change you know

And what was your favorite cover from Over the Garden Wall comics?

With Oni Press doing Adventure Time comics they a good chance they will do Over the Garden Wall comics at some point to what type of Over the Garden Wall comics you wanna see Oni Press do if they do get the comic license to Over the Garden Wall?

What should first issue of a new Volume be about if Oni Press does a new Over the Garden Wall comic?

Art by Legendary Jim Campbell

Squirrel Boy is flawed in several areas, but I still enjoy it. I like how the dad is voiced by Red from That 70s Show. It also does make me legit laugh, which is more than I can say for most modern cartoons. I kinda wish it lasted a bit longer. Final note: I adore Salty Mike. He's best boy/pet.

Community's non-official Cartoon Network originals tier list (Take 2): Day 1 - The Moxy Show

It's no secret that my first attempt at this didn't work out so well, not helped with not having enough history on Reddit to gain the momentum and the posts getting taken down by the mods on this subreddit, forcing me to use the less known r/cartoons with less traffic. However, it's been 10 months and I feel I can try again this time and see if this works.

Inspired by u/No-Shoulder3918 's community tier list for Nicktoons, thought I'd take a shot with Cartoon Network originals, especially in light of what's been going on recently for the channel.

Rules:

  1. Most upvoted comment decides the show's spot on the list. Please think carefully and fairly before you comment. Try not to let nostalgia or recency bias cloud your judgement.
  2. Each tier goes as follows: S= AmazingA= GreatB= GoodC= Okay/MehD= MediocreE= Bad and F= Terrible.
  3. Only originals recognized by this wiki are counted. Meaning no Canadian imports like Total Drama and Johnny Test or WBA shows like Teen Titans Go, Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, and Looney Tunes will be in this.

I used to like Gumball season 1 and got early 00s vibes watching it! But now…..

It doesn’t really hold up very well, that is mostly due to the characters acting like idiots to appeal to the latest 2010s cartoons like Fanboy and Chum Chum, Planet Sheen, and Breadwinners. Gumball especially, while he is supposed to be stupid but in episodes like “The Genius” where he doesn’t know how to turn the computer on or how to read really like emphasizing the fact that they were trying to make him as stupid as possible and don’t even get me started on episodes like “The Picnic” and “The Goons”. At the very best, all the characters are just to bland and don’t have much of personalities like Anais, she was just the smart girl, Richard was just “the fat lazy husband who acts like a child” (i hate this version of Richard by the way. Go watch “The Laziest” to see why I hated this version of him)

The jokes were also pretty unfunny and didn’t make me laugh as much as the later seasons and the tone all felt like it was playing it all too safe with very little adult humor.

While the animation is the one thing I like about Season 1 due to it being more expressive, but they can get a little too over the top and can get pretty weird.

I’ll admit there are a few episodes I like from that season like “The DVD”, “The Responsible”, “The Spoon (despite the stupidity of Gumball and Darwin)”, “The Painting”, “The Helmet”, “The Ape” and “The Sock”
