What are the best parts of Cary, in your opinion?

I’m from a small NC town, went to college in a small NC town, and then lived in Chapel Hill during and a bit after grad school. My fiancé and I both work in DT Raleigh now, and we found a nice little townhome in Cary so we’ll be moving soon.

Despite it’s flaws, one thing I loved about Chapel Hill/Carrboro is that it really had a sense of community and I felt like people were invested in their neighborhoods and it somehow still had a small town feel in many ways. So I’m a little anxious moving to somewhere that’s bigger, even if it’s not that big, and I know I probably sound dramatic.

Through no fault of Cary’s own, I’ve grown up hearing the familiar stereotypes that it’s full of strip malls and rich people from the North. Because of all this, I’m pretty anxious about the move and would love to hear the aspects of Cary you love the most.

We like the outdoors (parks, hiking, fishing, birdwatching, etc.), breweries, restaurants/bars that feel like lowkey neighborhood spots, sports, museums, etc.

We’re in our mid-late 20s and don’t have any kids, if that makes a difference.

Edit to add: My fiancé is from Raleigh, so he’s much more familiar and comfortable with Cary. The moving anxiety is definitely just on my end!

Racist business owner emailed me this (cy design studio)

Good morning all.
A local business owner named Candice Yagmin has been harassing another black business owner after a misunderstanding (a cancelled appointment because of an emergency is the basic understanding).
I am not, nor am I associated with them. But word has spread and I’ve decided to post a message Yagmin sent to the business owner.

This is not the first, and not the worst. Several fake reviews have been left by fake or bot accounts with fake stories, a private investigator and detective are even working with the business owner because of stalking and harassing a charges.

Candice Yagmin has posted racist photos and messages near their business and on their business site, emailed disgusting things, and defamed their business. I’m not a customer, but writing false stories to tank a local business reviews is NOT OKAY!!

I know they are currently going through a lawsuit but Yagmin and her lawyer are purposefully going the extra mile to disrupt and delay the process. They don’t want money, they just want the harassment to end.

I decided it was disturbing enough at this point to expose them. Regardless of the matter this should NEVER come from anybody let alone a business owner.

For rent by owner

Moving out my Cary apartment on October 1st. Looking to move to something like a townhome around that area. Open to Cary, Apex, Raleigh or Morrisville. Send me what you got! Private landlord is fine with me as well as any small Realtor looking to rent their property. Have a cat as well. One or two bedroom preferred. No more than that as it’s just me moving solo. Looking to spend no more than $1700-1800 monthly.

Cary North Carolina Downtown Events (USA Bicentennial Parade 1976) Super 8 Film

On the eve of America's 250th, I wanted to share this little film my late father made 50 years ago, during the Bicentennial. It starts out on our front porch downtown, but quickly we're on the road in our '67 Beetle to grab our spot on the parade route, which is approximately across from the Cary pool, by the high school. I was just 7 years old, but I remember what a HUGE deal this year was, with activities all year long and lots of memorabilia, etc. Hope y'all will enjoy.

New playground equipment behind Green Hope Elementary isn't even remotely handicapped accessible

I just walked by the new playground equipment at Green Hope Elementary School. If I had a handicapped child, I'd be so angry. There's no normal way to climb onto the play structure, only a 3 foot high step or climbing pole. On one of the two play structures, you have to climb over thick bars attached horizontally by ropes to get to a couple of the slides. The other slide ends two feet above the ground so it would be a falling hazard. Even many able bodied children are going to struggle with this playground. Who chose this equipment Town of Cary? Sean Stegall?

Does anyone remember this restaurant in Waverly Place from like 20 years ago?

I remember going to a restaurant in a round building in Waverly Place in Cary NC when I was a kid around 20-25 years ago. The ceiling had a scene with a blue sky with clouds and cherubs. I think it was a brunch place because I remember eating pancakes there as a kid. Does anyone know what it was called? I absolutely loved it and it would be cool to find out more about it!

Free Charging?!?!?!?

So pissed that the Town of Cary had "free" charging stations for electric cars that we the taxpayers were paying for.

I like Cary

I happen to work in Cary, at a AAA car care. You guys are pretty cool. So, the 45ish minute trip to Cary is very much so, worth it. I recently ventured to taziki's which is just down the street. Any other places near Waverly place that's worth going to visit to try new food?

Flasher in bond park

My kids were riding bikes today in the park. A couple (male/ female) was riding past my kids and the male had his penis out. Broad daylight, around 11am. I don’t have a great description based on the setting (they rode by quickly and he was wearing glasses and a helmet). Anyway just posting to be aware of your surroundings.
