MASUKU - a relaxing puzzle game in which you have to strategically cover up the board 🧩

Hello Comfort Gamers!

We are working on and will soon be releasing (!) MASUKU - a puzzle game for 1–4 players. Place, rotate, and flip cards to reveal colours and symbols that match shifting scoring goals.

There are a few different game modes, some that can be played co-op or competitive. Great to scratch the itch of something that makes you think without being super difficult. Also a game that doesn't require too much of a time commitment.

You can check out the demo on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4588280/MASUKU_Demo/

Releasing on 20th July on Steam! And Switch later in the year. Let us know if you have any thoughts and wishlists welcome if you find it interesting.

Thanks for checking out our game! :)

Never, ever give up on your dream

I just thought I'd share a picture of our first sketch from 2 years ago when we were just starting Isle of Finbari. This is our first game and it has been a huge learning curve with many mistakes along the way. We have worked night and day and life has had to take a backseat. We have battled through every difficulty and somehow kept each other going even in the hardest times. If you have a dream that you want to follow then just go for it and never ever give up.

My criteria for a 5/5 cozy game 🌱🍄

TL;DR: I’ve been building a scoring system to figure out what actually makes a good cozy game, I’d love to hear what you think!

Ever since I picked up Stardew Valley I’ve been hooked on cozy games, which was pretty surprising being an avid JRPG player. As much as I loved Stardew Valley, finding a game that hit the same was honestly a bit of a struggle, so I thought I’d sit down and try to break down what I actually value in a cozy game.

This is the list I came up with. These aren’t features that every cozy game needs to have, more like my idea of what a 5/5 looks like in each category when a game chooses to include it.

Is there anything glaringly obvious that I’ve missed? I’d love to know if you feel the same or if you’d have a completely different list to me!

The List:

Character Development 🫂

An actually diverse and varied set of NPCs that you can build relationships with and unlock new story moments or dialogue as you progress

Customisation 🎨

I genuinely enjoy being able to decorate and set out landscapes exactly the way I want to. I love that no two people who have played the same game have completely the same world.

Pacing 🧘‍♀️

To me, the point of cozy games is being able to relax whilst playing them. I hate having to grind for stuff or feeling rushed through the story.

Story 📖

Similar to character development, I like stories to be well developed with genuine character and story arcs.

World Design 🌍

This is a huge one for me. I'm a lot less compelled to pick up a game that doesn't look or sound good. I want it to be inviting, warm, and with areas I genuinely enjoy spending time in.

Gameplay 🎮

It's a game after all. I want every activity it offers to feed into something else in the game. Another thing I love is the excitement of new things to unlock and recipes popping up all the time; it makes the game fun to play.

What do you think? Again, this list isn't exhaustive but I think I've managed to narrow it down to aspects of cozy gaming that I think are genuinely important!

Pebble Games, a relaxing launcher for puzzles/cozy games

Hi everyone! I made a little game launcher called Pebble Games and I’d love your feedback.

I kept running in the same problem: most launchers are clunky and a pain to set up, especially for older DS/3DS games, and they’re all built around action/shooter aesthetics. I wanted the opposite: a calm, cozy place to collect chill stuff (think Professor Layton, Picross, Animal Crossing, Stardew…).

What it does:
- A tidy catalogue sorted by mood, with search and subcategory filters
- One click launches the game straight into the emulator you already have
- You can add your own games and emulators, and set custom covers

Important: it’s just a menu/launcher, it doesn’t include any games or ROMs. You bring your own files and emulators (but everything is guided so it should be easy to set up even if you’re a total beginner).

I’m sure there’s plenty to improve, so I’d really appreciate any feedback. Oh and it’s free (donations welcome but totally optional).

What actually makes a cozy game cozy? Asking the experts before I get it wrong 🌿

Hi r/CozyGrove 👋

I'll be upfront so there's no weirdness: I'm not posting as a die-hard fan — I'm a small dev currently making a cozy game, and this is genuinely one of the communities that understands the genre best. So I'd rather learn from you than guess.

Here's the question I keep wrestling with: where's the line between a game that's truly cozy and one that's just "relaxing" or "low-pressure"?

From building mine, my working theory is that cozy isn't about doing less, it's about removing the fear of doing it wrong. No fail states, no FOMO, no punishment for taking a day off. Cozy Grove nails this with its "come back tomorrow" rhythm, the game respects your time instead of demanding it. That patience is something I've been trying to design into the core, not bolt on.

The little experiment I'm building around that idea: a tiny retired lady named Patsy (Patsy's Retirement) who lives on a desktop island (Desktop Companion). The twist is you don't control her — you just keep her company. She waters flowers, feeds ducks, sweeps leaves, and decides on her own when she's tired and rests. You can help with small optional mini-games (zero fail states), and that's it. The whole pitch is "calm company in the corner of your screen" rather than another to-do list.

But I'm still figuring out the feel, which is why I'm here. A few things I'd genuinely love your take on:

  • What's the one cozy-game design choice that instantly makes you trust a game (or instantly breaks the spell)?
  • Is slowness essential to cozy, or can a cozy game be fast and still feel safe?
  • Are there cozy games that look the part but don't actually feel cozy to you.... and why?

Not trying to sell anything here, honestly the answers help me more than any marketing would. You all clearly have taste, so I'm listening 💚

Best audiobook games?

I want a game that's repetitive/mundane for something to do while listening to audiobooks like the Arcane Library game. Anything works, thanks!

I made a cozy doodle game for practicing concentration

Hi everyone,
As someone who loves doodling and likes to practice focus now and then, I made this simple, free game for iOS.

Doodle Match : Draw & Match

Here’s how it works: pick a deck size, draw half that many images, then match the pairs.
You can save and replay any deck, and if you’re partway through drawing a set, you can come back later to finish it.

I made my first indie game completely solo. Here's the trailer!

Hey r/IndieGaming! I spent several months making my first game alone.

It's called Paper Paws — a cozy scratch card game where you buy packs, scratch cards to reveal cute cats, and collect them in an album. The rarer the cat, the harder to find!

All cat card artwork was drawn in Krita. Built in Unity.

Coming soon to Steam — no page yet, but I'd love your honest feedback. Does this look fun? I'm honestly nervous about this! 😅🐱

So, on pc there are some good cozy games like town to town, tiny glade, Outbound, Mixtape, Beacon pines, Hozy, lake and Eastshade.

There are some good cozy games or similar games to the above list?
