my little cosy room that lives on your desktop — demo's out now, full release this month

Lofi Cozy Room is a tiny 3D room that lives in the corner of your Windows desktop. A little avatar reads on the sofa, works at the desk, and falls asleep in bed as the day goes on, while a puppy wanders around chasing sunbeams. You can decorate the room, customise the avatar, and switch between 14 themes, all with soft lo-fi music playing. It just quietly keeps you company while you do your own thing. After 2 years solo, the free demo is out now for Steam Next Fest, with the full release coming this month.

After 2 years solo, my cozy desktop room game launches this month — here's where it ended

Two years ago I started building a tiny 3D room that lives on your Windows desktop in a transparent always-on-top window, and it's finally launching this month. Solo the whole way (Bloomery Studio is just me). It's called Lofi Cozy Room. An avatar reads, works, and sleeps in the room while you do your own thing, with a puppy chasing sunbeams. You decorate, customize the avatar, switch between 14 themes, and a soft currency builds up passively. The free demo's up now for Steam Next Fest, with the full release on July 14. Wild to be this close after this long.

The hardest part by far was the transparent always-on-top window, since Unity doesn't do it natively, so it's all custom Win32 + DWM.

Wild to be this close to release after this long.

A 3D Lo-Fi mini-room you can drag anywhere on your screen — demo out now

Hi everyone!

Lofi Cozy Room is a 3D Lo-Fi mini-room that lives in a transparent, borderless window on your desktop. It sits right on top of your code or browser, and you can drag it anywhere on screen.

Your avatar reads, works, and sleeps in there as the day goes on while Lo-Fi plays and a puppy wanders around. The whole idea was something that quietly keeps you company while you work instead of fighting for your attention. There's a huge amount to customize too, over 700 interior items to decorate your room with and more than 1,300 clothing options for your avatar.

The demo gives you 3 room presets to try, limited but enough to get a real feel for it. Full release sometime in July.

Anyone else like having something ambient running while you work? Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Lofi Cozy Room Release Trailer | "A cozy idle life sim widget that lives on your Windows desktop — launching July 14"

Hey everyone, solo dev here.

Lofi Cozy Room is a tiny idle life sim widget that lives on your Windows desktop in a transparent always-on-top window. Your avatar reads, works, sleeps while you work — a soft currency called Amber accumulates passively, and you spend it to unlock furniture and rooms (14 themes at launch).

**Release: July 14, 2026**

**Free demo: June 3 (Steam Next Fest)**

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4621450/Lofi_Cozy_Room/

Technical side: built in Unity, transparent always-on-top window uses custom Windows API hooks (SetWindowLong + DWM composition tricks). Runs ~1-3% CPU when idle. Windows only for v1.

Happy to discuss the idle loop design, the always-on-top widget tech, or solo dev life in the comments.
