Travel Advice

Hi! My husband and I have tickets to a play in Stratford-upon-Avon in August. We will be landing in London Heathrow very early morning the day of the show. We also have to be back in London the day after the show.

I’ve never been to the Cotswolds so I thought it would be cool to stay that one night of the show in the Cotswolds and just drive in and out of Stratford-upon-Avon for the show. We could also enjoy the morning after in the Cotswolds.

I was hoping to be able to Uber between places but have read that Uber it’s practically nonexistent in the Cotswolds. We’re pretty nervous to get a rental car since we’ve never driven on the opposite side of the road for us, but may have to consider it if absolutely necessary. So my question is—given the plans below, how would you advise we handle transportation? Rental car absolutely necessary? Local taxi service? Trains to and from London + taxi?

Friday

  1. London Heathrow — Cotswolds
  2. Cotswolds — Stratford-upon-Avon roundtrip at night for a play

Saturday

  1. Visit 2 towns in Cotswolds in morning (looking to stay in Crowley Manor but want to visit Bourton-on-the-Water) Is there a more convenient place to stay for a quintessential Cotswolds experience?
  2. Cotswolds to London central

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!!

I'm staying in the Cotswolds with two toddlers. Where would be a good place to visit that's showing the England match tomorrow?

We are near Stow, but happy to travel to somewhere that would be suitable for me to watch the game with toddlers in tow!

Diddly Squat questions

Hi there!

My husband, daughter (4), and I are doing the Cotswold Way in July. We are visiting from the US. We are going to take the train from Oxford to Chipping Norton before we start our walking holiday.

While in Chipping Norton we’d love to make it down to the Diddly Squat Farm Shop (we love the show!) and I am trying figure out the best way to get there with a 4 year old. We won’t have a child car seat (since most of this trip we are traveling by train and bus), so how should we go about it? Is there a bus that can take us there? Should we rent a bike that has a child seat and bike there ourselves?

Thank you! 😃

Cotswold Uber?

I’ve read that Uber is virtually non-existent in the Cotswold but what if they were booked a month ahead of time? Would this be reliable? I tried to book a2b (Roz) and the cost from Moreton in Marsh to chipping Camden was £175! Thanks for your thoughts.
