Identification help requested — established Encephalartos sp. in Escondido, California

Identification help requested for an established landscape cycad at a private Escondido property being evaluated for possible professional relocation. Current defensible label is Encephalartos sp.; exact species is not established and no provenance claim is made.

The plant appears approximately 5–7 ft overall with a single exposed caudex. The available close-ups show long stiff leaves, narrow regularly spaced leaflets, numerous short prickles in the lower rachis/petiole region, and persistent papery/woolly crown bases. No cone is visible.

Could experienced growers comment on the most likely species or affinity and, especially, which missing characters would be decisive? Please do not treat E. natalensis or E. lebomboensis as established suggestions; those were only preliminary possibilities.

Sego Palms Yellowing - I need Help/Advise

2 sego palms, have been yellowing for about a year, and now noticed some of the outer frond tips are drying/breaking easily. Phoenix heat and in full sun all day. Soil appears to drain well and took them off the automatic watering system a few weeks ago. They were getting water every day and now being hand watered once a week. I thought they were looking yellow due to over watering and the extreme heat here. Now I am starting to question if I am doing the right things. Should I consider digging them up and transferring them to a pot in the shade?

Finally new growth!

I got my Cycas revoluta in October of 2025 and in the last 10 months she didn't do anything. No leaves grew, no leaves withered. Just nothing.

When I was watering her, I noticed she finally puts out new leaves! I'm so happy she finally decided that she liked my care and grows now 😊

Moving cycad?

We are sadly selling my childhood home and I would like to take this (I think) Cycas circinalis with me to the new house. I grew up with it. The only issue is that is is in probably one of the most dense tree rooted and compact soil parts of the garden. Any tips on removal are helpful
