Desk ideas needed for interesting case full of constraints

Dear people, I would happily get inspirations regarding finding my next desk.

Problem: I have to put the desk in a living room. I'm messy and gf does not like it. Solution would be a desk idea (new desk concepts and shapes, including desk + desk enhancements) such that my mess (things lying on the desk) is hidden/organized into something.

Constraints: cannot change room, minimum desk depth (front to back) 60 cm, max length (side to side) 120 cm, no hindrance in the leg area (e.g. panels, I have long legs), no separators, needs to be able to fit a monitor arm, ofc being messy is also a constraint (no solutions like 'dont be messy then' will help unfortunately, I've tried)

I am very hopeful you people will come up with a great idea I didn't think about :')

My home office and gaming desk setup

I have a dual-monitor configuration, featuring wallpapers of two characters from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Below the monitors sits my iPad mini, which I use for drawing.

In the top-left corner, I keep my Nintendo Switch and a spare phone, resting on top of the subwoofer. You can also see a fountain pen and ink on the desk; I truly enjoy the tactile feel of handwriting. On the wall, I have displayed my own calligraphy (with the exception of the printed sheet on the far right),featuring words to encourage myself to work diligently.

In the center is a custom mechanical keyboard I assembled, paired with a walnut wrist rest. The small black box charging nearby is a Hi-Fi digital audio player. Sometimes, I prefer using this vintage-style device to listen to music rather than using streaming services.

The cup on the right side was a gift from my wife—it’s a titanium mug featuring a Van Gogh painting.

Please forgive the messy cables in the bottom right corner; because I dislike fan noise, I keep my PC tower in the next room and ran the cables through a hole in the wall.

Oh, and on the far right of the scene, leaning against the wall, is a blade. It is a replica modeled after the style of the Tang Dynasty from ancient China.

Thank you for taking the time to look!

is this enough? pls help

got a new Ikea desk hack for my new gaming room, I bought a solid wood worktop from my local wood shop. It is 200 cm long, 80 cm wide and has a thickness of 26mm, has two alex dressers from ikea on each edge and mounted 2 legs on the back of the desk about 15 cm in from the back edge, there is about 40 cm between each leg and the alex dressers. I am afraid that over time the worktop will bend, should I put another leg in the middle of the
entire worktop or is this enough? I have put up the plate for an extra leg but my carpet makes the 3rd leg higher up than all the others which leads to the table being unstable. What do you think? should I make a hole in the carpet where the last leg should be for maximum safety? xD xD or should I put a metal plate that I attach to the entire length of the board? Or maybe they are enough as they are?
Please help.. <3

Just a newbie here, needing suggestions to improve productivity for studying long hours.

Currently just using the thinkpad and benq monitor screen only, STEM Student.

Switched to a curved monitor before I thought about desk depth. Got lucky.

I used to have a flat monitor and never really thought about desk depth. Swapped to a curved one a few weeks ago and it's way more comfortable, but it sits a lot deeper than I expected. This desk has a good amount of depth, so the screen isn't right up in my face. If the surface wasn't deep enough, I'd be sitting way too close and probably regretting the whole thing.

my anime merch is digital now because i hate dust more than i love figures

i love anime merch but i hate dust more.

figures collect dust. cards turn into clutter. acrylic stands somehow multiply when you're not looking.

so lately i've been keeping most of the obsession on screens instead.

the monitor gets the main art, the tablet gets the sketchy stuff, and the tiny side display gets whatever character i'm currently fixating on.

now the desk still looks clean, but every screen is quietly enabling the same problem.

honestly this might be the only way i can keep a minimal setup without pretending i'm not into anime.

some of you probably get it.

Love the look of this setup, but I miss the cozy feeling of my old small desk. Need some Hacks to make it more warm/cozy

I've been tweaking this setup for a while and I'm a bit conflicted.

Before this, I used to work from a small ~90cm desk tucked into a corner. It wasn't fancy, but it felt incredibly cozy and I could spend hours there. This custom L-shaped desk(180x60x75cm, L part-120x50x75cm) gives me a lot more space and looks much better aesthetically, but sometimes it feels too big and open.

Lately I've even started sitting on the extreme right side instead of the center, using the side monitor and PC almost like walls, just to recreate that cozy corner feeling I had before.

I'm debating whether to keep improving this setup or sell the desk and eventually move to a sit-stand desk. My biggest hesitation is that this desk is custom-made, very sturdy, and built from quality materials(ply wood), whereas most sit-stand desks in my budget seem to use particle board and may not last as long.

What would you do in my position?

  • Keep and improve this setup?
  • Modify the desk somehow?
  • Sell it and move to a sit-stand desk?

Also, what feels missing here? Any suggestions to make it feel more cozy, personal, and fun to spend time at?

My wife says the desk should go against the wall. But I don't want to.

It is a large standing desk, with an L-shaped pull-out part. I tend to place it on one side of the room and left about 20 inches of space between the desk and the wall.

That gap actually changes how the space feels. I can move around the desk freely without squeezing past anything, and it just feels more open to me. But my wife thinks a piece this size should be pushed flat against the wall - she says it would make the whole room feel bigger and cleaner.

Am I being stubborn? Curious how would you guys position this larger desks. Would you leave it too?

Home set up [21poor]

This is a desk retired from a local steel- works plant. I have a PS2 as a stand for this dirt cheap, lethargic, Walmart monitor. A little shelf I mounted on the wall to elevate the second monitor. The desk is enormous. I hope your day is fantastic.

I can either place the table as it is now or face towards the windows

I make travel content, so sit down talking head videos with lighting would be amazing.

What else do i fill there? I am pretty boring, i dont read books nor do substances & party. I am just extroverted & love anime, travel, collecting storiess.

What's a good monitor arm/stand for college?

I'm going to my second year of college in a couple months. The desks have a shelf built in, and you can't clamp an arm to them. The shelf is about 20 inches above the desk. Last year I just leaned my monitor without a stand against the shelf, but I lost almost half of my desk space because of that. Are there any good monitor stands/arms that don't need to be clamped, are VESA mount, height adjustable, and less than 15 inches tall?
