Unable to record on local PBS station
I am unable to record “AMERICA MADE IN VIRGINIA: 250 YEARS TOGETHER” on my local public TV station. Customer service says it’s because of “copyright issues.” Anyone else having this problem?

They said there is currently a worldwide outage for most people with whole home setup. This includes the main genie and genie mini(s). Last night their systems sent an alert to all clients with this setup that they do not have access to whole home and requested you remove all locations. I noticed it in the middle of the night and thought I clicked something. They said to expect an email demanding you send back all hardware but to disregard it. We tried hours of reboots and pins to add them but their main servers are locking us out. Just an FYI if your here to see whats going on. Shit happens and im not mad about. We will wait to hear about a fix, watch some Netflix or peacock in the meantime.
I’m a satellite customer and have just added Starz at a discount thru the DTV website. I got the standard “we’re processing your order email,” but so far those channels aren’t showing up on my receiver or on my account on the website. I’ve refreshed and rebooted, but nothing has changed.
I can’t call customer service, because they’re not open for a few more hours.
How long does it take for these new channels to show up?
Thanks.
Can anyone tell me why you pay over $100/month for direct TV? I'm seriously considering cancelling, but I want to hear why you have it. I like movies, and it's the same movies over and over interrupted by sitcoms. Used to love IFC, and now it's "Everyone Loves Raymond" for most of the channel. Used to love AMC, now the programming sucks and it's all edited.
Why do you still pay all this money for Direct TV? Want to know what you see in it that I'm missing. Otherwise, I'm cutting the cord.
Thanks,
Hello community.
I have an LG 4K Monitor and a Samsung UHD TV, but when i see HD content in my Directv decoder (is only HD, not 4K) it seems not good (pixelated, not so incredibly good as the TVs you see in a video store).
I think im missing any configuration, i dont know.
Currently i have the deco configuration on 1080p only, the TV and Monitor in HDR (looks not better with or without this option).
Even my old Sony 32 inch HD tv from 2015 looks way much better in 720p, image more vivid, colorful and less pixels.
What i should do? Thank you.
My family lives in one of the markets impacted by the ongoing Scripps local channel carriage dispute. About ten days ago, we received an email offering a free Local Channel Connector dongle to tune in the missing channel via antenna. I've long wanted an LCC to receive local subchannels, so of course I immediately went to the DirecTV website and redeemed the offer.
A confirmation screen appeared on the website, but nothing since then. No order emails arrived, and nothing shows up anywhere on the DirecTV website reflecting an LCC order. I have accounts with USPS Informed Delivery, UPS My choice, and FedEx Delivery Manager, which all do not show any incoming package. Thus I don't think the LCC is actually going to arrive anytime soon.
Has anyone else in a Scripps market managed to obtain an LCC during the current dispute? How did the process go for you?
I've been receiving free Paramount+ through DirecTV. The only downside is that the sound will only play in 5.1 surround sound as opposed to Dolby Atmos.
I'm bragging because it's not worth it. I rarely use Paramount+ or Prime Video. There must be a DirecTV glitch or something.
As a long time DirecTV satellite subscriber, I got an offer for a free upgrade for a Genie and Genie Minis and free installation by a technician. My question is besides the entertainment package which I already subscribe to what would the extra cost be? Right now I’m paying a $10 HD access fee plus $7 a month for an extra receiver. How much more monthly cost would a Genie system be?
So, we’ve had a satellite dish for years. No issues… This week my roofers had to remove my old dish to install the new roof and so I’ve been streaming. I called DirecTV and it seems I have a grandfathered plan that includes all the channels I like. If I go with streaming, I’ll likely have to go with a higher plan to get all the channels I already have. I think cost wise, in the end, it will be the same. This week I have to decide if I install a dish, which I’m hoping is smaller in size compared to what we had, or go with streaming? Also, one TV is old and most likely we’d have to replace it with a smart TV to get streaming. Pros/cons with a dish/streaming??
Thank you.
Trying to help troubleshoot a satellite-over-fiber setup that isn't passing signal, and I want to make sure I'm asking the right questions before escalating.
The setup runs the satellite L-band signal from the dish over a fiber optic link. There's a transmitter at the dish end and a receiver at the other end, feeding into a satellite receiver. The fiber receiver unit is powered up and showing a steady green light, so on the surface everything looks healthy on the link itself.
The problem is that despite the green light on the fiber link, the satellite receiver downstream is showing error 775 and no usable signal is getting through. As I understand it, 775 means the receiver can't communicate with / get power out to the dish's LNB, so it points to a powering or signal-path problem rather than the receiver itself being dead. The green light on the fiber unit only tells me it has power and an optical connection. It doesn't confirm the right signal is actually present on the line, since these links just pass whatever RF they're given within their frequency range. So a healthy-looking link can still be carrying nothing usable.
A few things I'm trying to rule out:
What I'd like input on: when the fiber link shows a normal green/powered state but the satellite receiver reports error 775 and won't lock, where do you usually find the fault? Is this typically a powering problem at the dish, a frequency/compatibility mismatch, or something on the optical side?
Any pointers on how to isolate it would help. Thanks in advance.
Just spoke with someone from retention. I will be faced with the $8 increase for choice. It will put my monthly after the $56.01 promo through Nov 2027, at $149 a month. I enjoy the service, but not enough to pay that much. Second increase in 8 months or so. Why are they hemorrhaging what subscribers they have left? Especially with the low amount of content left on linear tv.
The guide shows them in white but I don’t have access. How do you get those 2 channels for Friday night MLB games?
Just got an email from DTV saying that I got Peacock for free for 6 months. I see a credit on my bill but I have not activated the offer.
If I don't activate the offer that "credit" for Peacock will disappear after 6 months, correct? I'm not a fan of 'pre-billing' for something I don't want to pay for through DirecTV.
Now, if the offer is permanent and I can get Peacock for free through DirecTV I am more than happy to activate the offer, but I don't see anything that states the 'credit' will be extended past 6 months.
