Pup Farm Adventures brainstorming

Thinking about starting a dog day camp south of Raleigh and looking for honest feedback.
The idea is simple: instead of spending the day in a traditional daycare facility, dogs would be picked up in the Raleigh area and taken to a fully fenced 10-acre farm for supervised outdoor play, exercise, and socialization before being dropped back home in the evening. Is this a viable idea?

Also I am a long time Reddit lurker but have not posted. I was just brainstorming the idea and would probably start with 4-5 dogs. This would be a farm adventure type of thing. Probably just 1-2 times a week depending on demand and whether or not people like the service.

Any real solutions for constant dog hair everywhere?

Hi everyone,

My dog sheds a lot, and no matter how often I clean, there’s always hair on the sofa, clothes, car seats pretty much everywhere.

I vacuum regularly and go through lint rollers like crazy, but the results never seem to last very long.

Lately I've been looking into pet hair removal tools because I'm tired of constantly buying disposable lint rollers. I've come across Uproot Clean a few times, and the reviews seem pretty good, but I'm curious whether it works well enough to justify buying.

For those of you dealing with heavy shedders, what has made the biggest difference in your day-to-day routine? I'd love to hear some experiences before I spend the money.

Screworm

How worried should we be about screwworm? I hear it has spread to a dog in Texas. Obviously working with dogs and having my own pets at home this has my super concerned. Anyone else?

Has anyone used Woofs of Ball Street (Mordialloc) before?

I noticed they have exclusively 5-star Google reviews... and I'm curious to hear from people who have personally used them and if your experience was anything less than that?

Just looking for honest feedback from people who have firsthand experience. Reason I ask, is I know a lot of businesses that promote a "leave a review!" action for their customers after the first service they provide for them (pisses me off to be honest). The business usually puts in a MASSIVE effort for that first service (which leaves a big impression on the customer) and of course the review they leave thereafter is really positive. I've just found that level of effort from the business tends to drop for the next couple of services they provide once they establish that trust from you and they've got that credibility via your very first review. Just curious to know your genuine experience? Or are they just that good... Thanks!

Dog boarding

I have to be away for two weeks in November and my little pup will be 10 months then.

Has anyone had a good experience finding an alternative home for their dogs through borrow my doggy or the Rover app in the UK?

Unauthorized services on first day at doggy daycare

My 4.5 month old cockapoo received a facial trim during his first day at daycare!

This was his first ever groom, it was unauthorized, it was risky since he is an anxious dog and only recently fully vaccinated, and the person did a poor and uneven job of the groom. I'm in shock!

The owner of the daycare apologized, but couldn't do much else. The handler was trying to help with visibility, because there was some overgrowth around his eyes (but ended up giving him a full facial trim). I am considering pulling him out of the daycare - I don't want to find out the hard way what else they take don't have procedures in place for. What would you all do?

Meanwhile I'm hoping some of the hair will grow back before his official first groom which we have scheduled for next week 😞.

how to start working with animals?

basically what the title says, i’m 29F and i’ve always wanted to work with animals, specifically dogs and cats, but i’ve no idea where to start. i feel like coming to reddit is the human equivalent of chatgpt which i refuse to use lol

i want to come up with a five year plan to follow so if anyone who works with animals or knows about working with animals could give me some good pointers about where to start and steps to take that would be really helpful!

i don’t drive but i’m willing to start lessons although if there’s a way around that i’d rather not as financially it’s not super ideal right now, but doable at a push.

thanks in advance!

Our Experience of Owning and Running a Boarding Kennels and Cattery.

I have noticed an interest in people wanting to know how to go about setting up and running an animal boarding establishment. We have been in the business for over 18 years and have just retired. Having time on my hands I have written a warts and all account of our experiences with customers, neighbours and council officials, funding and income and the work/ life balance of our tenure. If you have ever considered buying a kennels or cattery you should read 'So You Want To Run a Boarding Kennels!' available on a well known on-line bookstore as a paperback or download. For pet lovers it's a great life and can be very rewarding but you should do your due diligence very carefully.

Doggie Daycare

Received two pics from the daycare today. Why is she always playing with the bigger dogs? But she loves going. 💗💗

Unequal pay

Question for all of you in the industry, how much do you get paid? Where are you located and what position are you?

There’s some unequal pay at my facility so I’m curious how much other people are making.

DAYCARE/BOARDING PLACES FOR MINI AUSSIDOODLES (Dayton OH and Around)

We have two medium-size mini aussidoodles, girl and boy, with anxiety…one more than the other (he takes meds). I am reaching out to find a daycare/boarding place for them while we go on vacation, or need to take them for a day once in a while. We have taken them to Pet Suites during a one-week vacation, only because we didn’t know of any other places at the time. While they enjoy being outside, they wouldn’t need acres of land to roam. I read that the noise level in kennels that house many dogs can be stressful for some dogs, and I think ours fall into that category. I prefer a place that may have a one-on-one option available, in the event our dogs get overwhelmed being with many dogs all day. A dog-sitter is not an option, as they would not adjust to a non-family person staying in the house. We will have a trainer (again) in the near future to continue working through their anxiety. Thank you in advance for recommendations

Hey, all! Looking for interested ones :) Dog walking, house watching, pet sitting, drop-ins…

Hey everyone! My name is Sage 👋🏻 I’m trying to find people who are looking for someone to pet sit in-house or watch their home while they’re on vaca or just away for a while. Right now I’m only available on weekdays after five but anytime on the weekends, but I’m looking to go part time with my 9-5 so I can spend more time doing this. I also do overnight stays! I’ve had dogs my whole life and have my own two cats, and I’ve kept many reptiles and insect species myself so my services do extend to those. Im happy to do free meet-and-greets and “appointments” to go over your baby’s needs. I’m completely comfortable with and actually prefer having pet cams on in the home. Please let me know if you or someone you know is interested! Ask me anything. Thank you so much 😉🫶

Services (drop-ins or stay-ins):
Plant watering, animal feeding and watering, medicine administration, accident cleanups, overnight home security, mail retrieval (mailbox checks), dog walking, cat and dog nail trims, brushing, playtime, park visits, etc. etc. Just ask and I’m happy to do what I can :)
