Weekly Post -- THE TAVERN

Greetings Dungeoneers, this is your Robot Dungeonmaster. Due to increased activity among the sub we are implementing some weekly features including a general chat post [THE TAVERN] on Thursday and the self-promotion post [THE MARKETPLACE] on Friday. These features will repeat weekly until the fall of the internet. These will not be stickied and will repeat regardless if they are used.

//////////

THE TAVERN

Hello adventurer welcome. Pull up a chair and have yourself a drink. Here you may talk about dungeon synth or things related to the genre. You may also ask for a manager if you have any questions or concerns about how things are run in this sub and they will come out and jot down your concern on a piece of paper.

Lore Arborea - Lights in the Dark (Celestial/Nature synth)

Here's my new Lore Arborea release.

I tried to keep the album short, but also wanted to make a very long track. I listened to a lot of progrock as a teenager that really opened my mind to unusual music, and ever since I've wanted to make a 20 minute long track.

Normally my music is forest based, but this one is dedicated to nighttime, stargazing, night walks, as well as other glowing lights in the dark.

The constellation on the cover is Cygnus, it's my favorite because the Milky Way runs right through it.

Edit: I forgot to mention, this album is available on streaming services for your convenience.

Iron Keep - Shamble: A Collection of Lamentations

Greetings and hails!

Herein lies my contribution to the May 2026 Dungeon Shamble: Battle Synth.

I took the prompt and it inspired me to create woeful melodies based on the aftermath of battle; Songs for fallen heroes who died protecting their King and Keep from an unstoppable Horde. No war drums to be found here. We sing the songs of the fallen. Their loss will never be forgotten.

It's set to Name Your Price on Bandcamp, so grab it for free!

Recorded with the Korg N-5 synthesizer, using 5 patches:
02 - Acappella
07 - Midnight
34 - Tune Smith
37 - Legato Reed
44 - Iron Keys

Total runtime: 19 minutes, 45 seconds.

Please enjoy, and a happy Shamble to all!

John Rose - Rainsongs [1987] Anyone else have albums that instantly change the atmosphere of the room?

Put this on today and the whole mood changed immediately.

Curious if this is known here, and what other records do that to you.

Feast of Maunder- Those Left behind

My submission for dungeon shamble is admittedly a pessimistic view of war.  It concerns a group of young people who live in an isolated village, whose first experiences with the outside world are as conscripted soldiers in a war that has little to do with them.  While they are gone, their home is attacked by the neighboring kingdom.

This Ep can be considered akin to my goblin albums, both in style and thematic points, but is also a callback to my submissions for last year’s shamble in its pastoral pieces. My approach to the five-patch limit was, I often doubled tracks, adding fx to one but not the other. This made songs with at most three patches at a time more expansive, at least I hope it did.

Youth - Tapes from the Dungeon, Vol. 1

So excited to finally be able to talk about this. I released my first dungeon synth project awhile ago now, I hope some people here can appreciate it even though I know it might not be everyone’s style. I plan on releasing many more of these as i’ve fallen in love with this genre and can’t stop making it. If you take the time to listen and get back to me about it, i’d greatly appreciate you. Thanks!

Dungeon Shamble check in

The Shamble is half over. How is yours coming along? Have you done any neat experiments? Think up any interesting stories to base the battle synth on?

As for me, i wrapped up my album today. I'm very busy the rest of the month so mine was more of a Dungeon Jog than a Dungeon Shamble. I'll be releasing it after the Shamble ends.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone comes up with!

Oh, did you think the great Sir Galeas did not have a tale before his famous ballad? Famously known as Sir Galeas the Lost, it is little known that he was once called Sir Galeas the Vigilant. His unrelenting leadership in the great and bloody Azertolian-Baltorian war is truly the stuff of legend. While he was away commanding armies on battlefields and defending villages from raids, the incomparable Maya--the love of his life--was at home in Azertolia, fearing nightly a great many ills that might befall her wayward soldier. Vivid and terrible dreams plagued Maya...nightmares of his battles, including a most unfortunate dream of her own fate that would turn out to be true. Her home village would be raided and she would become one of the war's final victims.
Indeed, war is rarely glorious and only brings grief to all...

Bernie Fern - Seasons in the Round (New)

Calling all sleepy synth and/or gnome-core lovers!

Ever wished you could just be a gnome and live in the woods? Me too, so I started making synth and ambient music as a gnome.

My first EP 'Seasons In The Round' is out now. If you like slow, dreamy, and ethereal layers and lullaby-ish melodies that build over time, then I hope you'll consider checking it out.

'Seasons In The Round' is composed of five songs, each exploring the emotions and revelations that one might experience while growing up and reflecting on a childhood through an adult lens, and how that can be both illuminating and disillusioning at the same time. Each song can exist on its own, but all five songs put together help tell a story I could never express fully in written form.

The songs were all created using a hybrid of hardware synthesizers and virtual instruments, along with fun noises recorded from nature. The songs are full of melodies that repeat over themselves in 'rounds' of sorts, hence the nod in the EP's title. The rounds of melodies create cluster harmonies and tense moments of counterpoint, eventually resolving in cozy and warm washes of reverb and other effects. I consider it a compliment when people call it "napping music".

Why a gnome, exactly? Well first off, I’m short. And second, I just really like whimsy and nature. Also, according to Penguin Reference’s Dictionary of Symbols: “They came to symbolize the invisible being who by inspiration, intuition, imagination, or in dream makes visible things which are invisible.” ... this line really stuck with me and became my muse. I like to imagine that we all have a little gnome inside of us, excited and ready to create art and explore our beautiful world. I named my gnome Bernie Fern.

Available now on Bandcamp and most streaming platforms. Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you in the woods somewhere 🌲

What’s your “Old Reliable” album?

Your album you never get tired of, and always gravitate towards throwing on when nothing else is jumping out at you? For me it’s The Lunar Lexicon by Aindulmedir.

I’ve listened to Wallachian Cobwebs and Erythrite Throne some but I really dig this subgenre. I would love to hear some more recommendations.
