Tonight, after a long hard day at work, qi decided to read The Lord of the Rings, but not haphazardly
I sat in my brown leather armchair , I poured a pint of strong lager with golden shade, I filled my jaegerpipe with a personnal blend of french grey tobacco and Netherland Mixture with a hint of honey scent . The background music was the captivating melodies of the Prologue Album by Thangorodrim
I let myself be carried away through the foggy land of Tom Bombadil , savouring the words of illustrious professor Tolkien as I delighted in Dungeon Synth anthems, puffing from time to time the smooth aroma of tobacco and tasting the might of belgian lowland beer .
It was as if I was a hobbit leaving the Shire for good but ampreciating the hospitality of the mysterious master, listening to timeless tales .

The Fimnur Trio is proud to present "Sketches from the Dungeon", which is an EP of "dungeon jazz", AKA dungeon synth crossed with jazz. It's fairly experimental in nature and is our attempt at crossing these two (quite different) genres. We hope you enjoy it! I'll put some bandcamp codes in the comments below.
A nice little demo I stumbled across last year. The basketball texture on the j-card is a funny little thing that actually works pretty well.
Greetings Dungeoneers, this is your Robot Dungeonmaster. Due to increased activity among the sub we are implementing some weekly features including a music recommendation post [THE LIBRARY] on Monday, a general chat post [THE TAVERN] on Thursday, and the self-promotion post [THE MARKETPLACE] on Friday. These features will repeat weekly until the fall of the internet. These will not be stickied and will repeat regardless if they are used.

THE LIBRARY
Greetings, esteemed colleagues. Welcome to The Library. We trust you will share your recent favourite albums, ear-catching songs you have been listening to lately, and present music you have uncovered through diligent research. Doing so will aid others in making it safely through their work weeks without too much undo stress. Perhaps new discoveries will lead to breakthroughs in sound or aesthetic.
If you have any questions, please take a ticket from the dispenser and wait for your number to be called. You will be served in the order that appears on the small chalkboard on the front desk.
NOTE: this is intended as a space for sharing other people's music. Not for doing self-promotion. Respect this simple rule or your comment will be removed.
I've been having a lot of fun as of late hand embroidering and painting patches for DS and Fantasy themed bands. It's been really interesting studying all of the different ways they're made and the things artists choose to incorporate.
Do you have a logo for your projects? Please share them, I'd love to see!
My sophomore dungeon synth album, this time consisting of the music I made for my country's first ever Dungeon Synth event: Dungeon Quest!
The event was a live role-playing experience where I acted as Game Master for a crowd of people that worked together to decide the actions of one brave knight questing through the crypts of Gamosh in search of a Wizard's Orb, and these 11 tracks scored the moments, monsters and creatures they encountered!
Everyone was so supportive when I shared about the event earlier on this sub, so I've decided to make the album entirely free for anyone to download and enjoy! I unfortunately don't have any well-shot videos of the event to share, but I will be doing another one in November and will make sure to film it then!
What is it?
Why do you like it?
How do you use it?
When does it shine the brightest?
Would you ever consider replacing it and/or parting with it?
This is more geared towards physical hardware instruments & tools. Feel free to talk about your favorite virtual thing if you'd like. My hope is that this post will be a treasure trove of information for people in the future. Thank you to everyone for sharing! <3
Been thinking about this a lot since my own music leans into the softer, nature/animal side of things rather than the darker dungeon roots the genre grew from
Do you see comfy synth and nature synth as their own thing, or just a mood within dungeon synth as a whole? Is it about the instrumentation, the imagery, the tempo, or something else?
Also curious, any albums or artists you'd point to as the definition of that comfy/nature sound? Would love to hear what you're all listening to.
For my composers, how do you get better at turning your ideas into finished pieces? I don't seem to have much trouble finding ideas that I like but I want to improve my ability to compose. Do you study specific pieces? Do you study a specific aspect of composition? When you were first making music in the genre did you ever study medieval music or did you take inspiration from a totally different genre?
Hey there! I'm relatively new to the genre and community, but as someone with a background in gaming, DND, LARP, and Rennfaires, I find a lot I like about the sound and general aesthetic.
But what about the other folks who listen to and make the music? Are you guys, respectfully, a bunch of nerds like me? Are y'all rolling dice and hitting your friends with foam weapons. Do people dress up in medieval garb for shows?
I know a large amount of this genre is born from the metal scene, so is it more a band tees and shorts kinda crowd?
I dunno. Tell me about yourselves!
Hard to describe the feelings this demo invokes. I can't recommend this enough for anybody who hasn't heard it yet.
