1.5 carat diamond ring help! does this look small?

1.5 carat diamond ring help! does this look small?

I finally saw the ring in person and my brain is doing that thing where nothing looks how I imagined. I kept thinking a 1.5 carat diamond ring would feel huge but on my hand it just looks kind of normal? Maybe it is the lighting or my fingers are weirdly long

Help me decide! Is 10k gold actually better than 14k

I’m currently trying to pick out my ring, and I’m having a hard time deciding between 10k and 14k gold. I know it might sound a little ridiculous to ask if the lower karat is better, but I’m genuinely looking for some feedback before I make the final choice.

I want something durable, but I also don't want to regret not going with 14k. Would love to hear your thoughts, experiences, or any pros and cons you've weighed! Thanks in advance!

Can you actually tell which one is cz and which is real diamond?

if you had to choose one of these for an engagement ring without knowing which is the real diamond or the cz, which one would you pick and why? i'm curious if people can actually tell the difference just by looking.

Does sterling silver tarnish?

So I just bought my first sterling silver ring and I'm a bit confused about how it holds up. I keep hearing mixed things from people, some say it stays fine for years and others say it turns dark pretty fast. Does it really tarnish that easily or does it depend on how you store it and wear it?

Struggling to find engagement ring for girlfriend… help a guy out

I know she wants an emerald stone, with a gold band and pretty sure oval shape.

However, I don’t know anything about rings… like I’ve seen one for £550 and think that looks nice but that seems too cheap 😅 I think ?? My budget would be £1200 max I think. But then I look at rings for 1200 and think the cheaper £550 is just as nice. Do I need to consider carat etc, I just don’t know this stuff.

Thanks

Engagement ring budget is $5k and I feel like that's nothing these days. Am I crazy or can I actually get something nice?

Been saving up for a while and $5k is what I've got to work with for an engagement ring. But honestly every time I look online or walk into a store, I feel like that's pocket change. Everything seems to start at like $8k minimum. I know I'm not going to get a massive diamond but I want something that looks good and won't fall apart. I've seen some options for engagement rings online that seem more affordable, and I found a place that has transparent pricing. They even let you create your own engagement ring which seems like a good way to stay on budget. Is $5k actually enough for something decent or should I wait and save more? Anyone been in this boat and ended up with something they loved?

Who buys the wedding bands?

ok so this might be a dumb question but me and my bf got engaged last month and we have no idea who pays for the wedding bands. he got me the engagement ring obviously but nobody ever explains what happens after that. like do i buy his band, does he buy mine, do we just go halfsies on both, i genuinely dont know.

asked my sister and she just said “depends on the couple” which was not helpful at all lol. so im asking here instead. how did you guys figure this out with your partner. did one of you just pay for everything or did you split it down the middle. trying to get an idea before we go shopping so we’re not just winging it at the store

Who here actually wears a mens engagement ring

I keep seeing this topic come up but I want to hear from guys who are actually wearing one right now, not just people who looked into it like me. What made you decide to get one instead of waiting for the wedding band, and has anyone at work or in your family said anything about it. I am curious if it felt like a normal thing once you had it on or if it took some getting used to. Would love to hear real experiences before I make a decision on this myself.

Is it possible to swap out a stone from my setting?

I've been wearing my 10x7 pear moissanite for a few years now and I think I'd like a lab diamond to replace it. Is it possible? Or will it be too hard to find a pear with the exact same measurements?

What is a black diamond quality wise?

Trying to plan an engagement ring and i keep coming back to black diamonds because they are kind of bold. But What is a black diamond quality wise? like are they actually tough day to day or do they crack more than people admit. I have read that some are treated and that makes me nervous about how they hold up. If the surface gets scratched does it show a lot since it is dark. Just want something that will still feel nice years later

Does cubic zirconia tarnish over time?

so im about to buy an engagement ring and my budget is pretty tight right now. a few people suggested cubic zirconia and i keep seeing mixed reviews online before i commit to one. some say it stays clear and looks great for years, others say it gets cloudy or yellowish after a while, especially if you wear it every day like a real engagement ring. has anyone here actually worn a cz ring daily for like a year or more? did the stone hold up or did it start looking dull and worn out.

*photo for attention purposes only.

moissanite vs cubic zirconia, which one holds up better

been comparing these two before buying a ring. moissanite is harder, around 9.25 on the hardness scale, so it resists scratches a lot better over time. cubic zirconia is softer, closer to 8, so it scratches and dulls faster, usually within a year or two of daily wear. moissanite also has a higher refractive index so it throws more rainbow colored sparkle, while cubic zirconia gives a plainer white sparkle that fades quicker. if you want something that lasts longer moissanite is the better choice, but cubic zirconia is still fine if you just want something cheap for now

Lessons learned after my first GRA moissanite ring purchase

so i finally bought my first moissanite ring with a GRA certificate and wanted to share a few things i wish i knew before ordering. first, always check that the GRA report number actually matches the stone you receive, some sellers send generic certs that don't line up with the actual ring, so verify it on the GRA site before you pay or right when it arrives. second, the cut quality matters way more than carat size when it comes to how the stone looks day to day, i got a slightly smaller stone with a better cut and it looks way better in person than the bigger one i almost bought. lastly, don't rush the purchase just because of a sale or discount countdown, take time to compare sellers and ask for extra photos in natural light, since pictures on the listing page can be edited to make the stone look different than it really is.

Comparing vs2 and si diamonds, help me choose

Planning a simple solitaire and stuck between VS2 and SI in a lab diamond, and I keep reading that SI can be totally fine if the inclusions are off to the side. My worry is that I will see a tiny spot once it is on the hand, especially in bright light or when the stone gets a little dusty. Comparing vs2 and si diamonds, help me choose since the price jump to VS2 is not huge but it still feels like money that could go toward a better cut. If you have been through this, how did you decide what was worth it

What do yall think about this new style of engagement ring? Not the traditional but want to know if you would wear it.

Just getting into engagement rings. Lately, I've been running into some very unique designs, like this one. Let me know what you think about it and if you would be the chosen one for this one 😉

HELP, please!

I am trying to decide between 2 oval lab alexandrites for engagement ring. 1st measures at 7.98 L x 6.00 W x 3.366 P (1.5c) and the 2nd measures at 8.5x7.0x5.2 (2.2c). I have LARGE fingers at 9.25. either way, the stone will be set in a low-profile yellow gold bezel with a donut base and raised bridge open gallery basket. I am a 2nd time bride and am not interested in impressing anyone with size of stone, just want to make sure it looks classic and not too big or too small. which size aligns more closely with" Goldylocks just right" size on my very large finger? Thank you for any assistance.
