WD 188 (AU) - Epic
There were a few news items and articles related to the Epic scale games in this issue. Love the colours of those Command Tanks, as well as the zany idea of packing three disparate unit types into one blister. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen the metal flags in the wild, so maybe they did!’t sell hugely well.
Perhaps my favourite element is the hand-painted backdrops used to set the scene in the Battle Report (no spoilers!). A proper hive city!
Small Force of Dark Eldar
I spent a day painting all of these up from start to finish. Its shocking how at this scale painting feels so rewarding. Having something like an army painted only after a few hours of work is so nice.
The minis are from onslaught miniatures.
I've been printing these up while painting my (printed) 40k reaver titan.
I thinking somethings off with one of the warlord titans...
Hive tyrant and friends
Painted 11 termaguant and 4 hormagaunt stands today, the batch paint run was a slog but at least I never have to worry about painting more hormagaunts. I have 4 more termaguant units left but im not going to paint those just yet.
Photos of today’s battle, Space Marines vs Orks on my hex terrain! So many explosions!
Start of tyranid army
BF wants to play epic as his first ever gw game (and tabletop wargame) so I have obliged by starting to paint armies. The hormagaunts and termaguants are original I got from a lot for cheap and the dactylis is an FDM print.
Im hoping to play 3rd edition, but I have no idea whats a good baseline to play a basic match. I was thinking 500 points since the points are super low in 3rd. Also, what are the good resources to play 3rd? I have the original books and everything.
Identification help.
Hey everybody. I’ve been clearing out my garage and came across these. At some point I was gifted them. I’m aware they are epic 40k by the box they were in. Any help with what I’ve got here? I am looking to offload these because I’ve no interest. Thank you.
TMG Novan Tanks and Ordnance Conveyor
These arrived on friday and was stoked to get them painted. I've yet to put the infantry together but hopefully this week. Really happy with the tanks, they went together really fast and look really good. The ordnance conveyor is awesome, I added some vanguard dudes and some bits blitz designs dudes/bits and a couple of dark arts miniatures emperor's choir dudes.
Ordnance Conveyor (Ordinatus)
So this arrived in the mail, got it painted immediately. There's 3 weapon options on sprue, there's enough cradles for 2 of the 3. I decided not to build the plasma one but built the other two. Really great kit, good size too. Apparently the cradle will also fit atop of warbringer nemesis titans. I modelled the little support legs down as it just looks a lot cooler. I took a few scale shots to compare it to the gdt crodax and the ordinatus ulator. Really great kit, shipping was faster than expected from uk to canada. Went together really fast. Vanguard miniatures has them, I ordered this one directly from troublemaker game's site.
Storage? Magnets? Cases?
Hi folks, I am currently using arguably the worst possible storage solution known to mankind.
Many cases I see are big and bulky, and in a quick search here, the main alternative seems to be making our own - which is probably beyond me (not in terms of skill, but time and attention!)
Are there any off-the-shelf solutions that are better than smashing them all together like this?
Also, is there a good way to magnetise the infantry bases, coz I think that might go some way to improving it :)
Thanks!!
Back to work after 3 month on leave
Been a fairly productive quarter of a year sitting in my underpants painting miniature miniatures. Got a lot more confident with tiny free hand painting. Also got a lot better at designing and printed a lot of scenery too. Back to the coal face on Monday…
Epic-scale battles in 40k
Hey, all.
Over the last year-or-so I've been getting back into the wargaming/mini-hobby side of things after previously being focused (a bit too focused O.o ) on the lore. When I last played the game (some 35 years ago) everything was Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine, so this time around straight out of the gate I picked up Adeptus Titanicus and Legions Imperialis.
For an Eldar player of old, the distinct lack of Eldar rules is a bit of a bummer. A bit of Googling reveals NetEA/EA, which is cool.
I haven't found any updates (fan?) to bring the new models/units/etc. in line with the older rules? Do they exist, or is this a case of pulling out the abacus myself?
Any productive insight you could give would be fantastic. Thank you. :)
Epic terrain models
As promised a couple of weeks ago, I said I'd share the models when I'd finished tinkering with the files. Here's a link to anyone who wants them, would be interested in hearing how people get on with them. Cheap as free, so don't expect too much, but it was a valuable learning experience. I'd recommend anyone who wants to get into 3D modelling for epic to try a terrain project first and nail down the basics. Has been really useful for me.
3mm “Taurus” APC
I’m reworking my 3mm Taurus APC and Auroch light tank. Both models about 15mm long and are sitting on a standard 25mm base.
Banelord proxy
I'm really looking forward to slapping some paint on the banelord titan proxy.
It does have a swirly mechanical tail, but it's really short and I'm tempted to sculpt a more substantial one.
Hive Fleet Onachus
It'd been nearly twelve years since I worked on the bugs this past April when I picked them up again. I rebased everything and started putting down some paint too.
