We spent the last few months designing a hands-free paint shaker (3500 RPM / Vortex motion).

We spent the last few months designing a hands-free paint shaker (3500 RPM / Vortex motion).

Hey everyone,

If you’ve ever pulled out a bottle of metallic paint or thick primer that’s been sitting on a shelf for a few months, you know the pain. You end up with a solid brick of pigment packed into the bottom, and no amount of hand-shaking seems to actually mix it properly.

When we started working on VOORTEX, the main goal was simple: we wanted something you could just drop a bottle into, hit start, and go back to masking, cutting sprues, or prepping parts while it does its thing in the background.

https://preview.redd.it/alvmubmenakh1.png?width=2878&format=png&auto=webp&s=9bc886c126b18551fc233976b9734b348422e27b

A few specific annoyances we tried to solve during development:

First was the mixing action itself.

Standard vibration works fine for light acrylics, but for stubborn, separated pigments, we opted for a high-speed spinning motion (up to 3,500 RPM). That creates a vortex inside the bottle that pulls the settled sludge from the bottom up through the liquid.

https://preview.redd.it/93m2ou6inakh1.png?width=2874&format=png&auto=webp&s=34269738965c807c26419ad6708aad8e59785947

Second and probably the most annoying thing with high-speed mixers—was "desk walking."

At 3,500 RPM, if the dampening isn't right, the machine slowly migrates across your cutting mat or shakes your entire hollow desk. We ended up designing a dual-layer internal cushioning setup paired with silicone feet underneath to isolate the vibration so it stays firmly in place.

We also went with a stepped, flexible holder instead of a fixed clamp.

As long as the bottle is roughly between 25–50mm wide and 10–60ml, it automatically centers and locks in, whether it's a dropper bottle, a glass jar, or a standard acrylic container. Added a 0–3 minute timer display on the side as well, just so you can set a repeat routine for paints you use constantly without guessing.

Basically, it's meant to save your wrist on those stubborn, heavily separated paints and keeping your hands free while building.

We’re really curious to hear how everyone here handles paint prep.

Do you stick to wrist power, agitator balls, standard vortex mixers, or something else entirely? And if you already use a shaker, what’s the one thing that annoys you most about your current setup?

Frustrations with Gaalheri Gift Cards

My friends have ordered a couple of Gaalheri Gift Cards for my upcoming birthday as I’ve been meaning to take a plunge into airbrushing for awhile and now, amidst the sale, these gift cards still haven’t arrived. Usually, gift cards are either recieved minutes or hours within the purchase time.

But it has been days since the purchase and still no response. I’ve contacted my friends and confirmed there were no credit card issues or site issues. Yet these gift cards still cards are still pending. I’ve also contacted gaalheri support numerous times and have received no help other than “check spam or trash” which have been scoured through numerous times already.

I do not know Gaalheri’s policy with gift cards, but there has not been any acknowledgment on their side so I have no choice but to make an issue of it here in the hopes that it can be resolved.

Kaleido color real life equivalents

For the mecha and auto bundles (als the new B sets) the accuracy and how the colors are „precisely matched“ is always a big focus. For some it is obvious but with 96 colors total I just don‘t know for which car manufacturers or mobile suits I have accurate colors. For the first wave there were some sample models at least. The names of the Kaleido colors do not all correspond to a real manufacturer color code as modt of them are their own creation.

PG Zaku II

Recently finished my first Perfect Grade build - Zaku II. Had a blast building this! I also tried my new Zeon inspired airbrush stencils on some areas, instead of decals. I really like the look they give! (I have an EFSF set on order too.)

Didn’t go too heavy on the weathering, but I did add some smoke staining under the rocket nozzles….

6 free bottles of paint promo joke.

My six free bottles of paint for spending $300. I expected random; I wanted to test the paint for a larger order. This is a joke, right?

Finished RAF Phantom – Airfix 1/72

Finally finished! Really happy with how this one turned out.

348 decals later, along with panel line work, weathering, varnish, landing gear, canopy and the full weapons load, it’s finally on the shelf.

I used Kaleido Acrylics throughout the build, with the Gaahleri Möbius and Aventus V2 for the airbrushing.

A proper enjoyable build, even if those decals felt endless! 😂

What do you think of the finished result?

Really disappointed

I was expecting for the gaahleri day to be a huge sale, but it looks like they do not prepared themselves for the date. Almost everything I was holding in for the date to buy is out of stock, I tried to buy paints in bulk to use their promotion but the ones I want are mostly out of stock at the first hour of it.

I fell like I waited for a discount and get none stock to buy.

Frustration is the word...🫩

What a bad joke...

I was waiting for this Gaahleri day to finally buy my paint sets collection that I was wanting for so long, but after the huge disappointment with their lack of structure to handle with stock on the most busy days, I decided to go straight to CREATEX PAINTS AND PRIMERS.

Before the gaahleri day, every post here got an answer from gaahleri team, hyping the 8/8 to be a huge event, with a huge amount of new products, new paints, big discounts and so on. Since it started they just disappear, do not answer nobody, do not apologise for their utmost FAILURE.

Thank you Gaahleri, better know how you proceed now, before I buy anything than later.

Question on the kaleido paints.

I've ordered a respirator mask to protect against particles, but the paints say they are safe for indoor use and not toxic so would I be okay with not buying a spray booth? Or would a large box or something like that be acceptable? I can afford a booth if i need to but if using their paints is fine without one I would rather save the money.

Bottle swatch/topper

Hi all,
Just got my first Kaleido paints, and wanted to add some bottle swatches/toppers.
Problem is, I only found 1 store on Etsy selling printed versions, but it doesn't sell the STL only for Kaleido, as they sell the 3D models for all the other paint brands.

Wanted to know if any of you had other findings on this, a 3D file that could fit, or something else.

Thanks !

Looking for tips to improve primer adhesion

Hi i'm very new to airbrushing, I recently bought the Serenair kit and a bottle of Kaleido gray primer for a tank I’m going to paint; it has a metal barrel, metal tracks and photo etch parts.

I’ve practiced on spare parts, but the primer always peels off very easily when scratched with a fingernail, especially on the metal. I don't think it's the model material or the paint, it's probably a skill issue from me.

I’ve tried a few things, like washing the surface with soapy water and lightly sanding it; that helped a bit, but it still scratches easily.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Is shipping usually slow? UK based

I bought a Möbius 0.3 on Saturday and paid for the shipping. since then the only thing update is that a label was created. it hasn't moved past that point. I've contacted and the emails just seem like an AI chatbit and keeps skipping round the point of giving me an ETA of when my parcel will be collected. I don't expect it to be here yet but I do expect that it should be on its way or the company should know when ups are collecting the parcel. Anyone else had this?

1/72 Solaridian (Kaleido Finish)

First project using exclusively Kaleido Colorworks Paints. I'm absolutely in love. Although I'm still battling Orange Peel (in this part of France, humidity is a problem) I am extremely happy with the result.

All the headaches I've had with thinning ratios, air pressure, and airbrush techniques have disappeared, and I've enjoyed this project more than any other because of how extremely easy was using these paints.

My recipe was:

-Kaleido Gloss Black Primer

-Kaleido Gunmetal, zirconium black, flashy gold and Aluminium Metallic Paints

-Kaleido translucent Red paint

-Kaleido Gloss Varnish

Long wait on order from gaahleri store

Anyone has bad experience with the store before? My order was confirmed on May 16 and still hasn't shipped yet. This was my 2nd order, my first order from gaahleri was super quick. Tried emailing the customer service and getting copy paste replies since June.
