In 2025 William Saki sued the Ohio BMV for denying his GAY license plate. His claim was on 1st Amendment grounds, arguing that the statement of his identity is not offensive and is protected free speech. The BMV settled the case, agreeing to allow the plate and review their guidelines to remove the unconstitutional denials. I discovered that IM GAY was now available, and I thought it was amusing, so I had to take it. I'm also an Eagle Scout which maybe makes it a little more funny 🙂

Bought this because I always wanted one but was afraid of the actual quality and reliability of the brand in general. However, I love it and so far no problems. My question is, does it give off “dik magnet” or “I’m just an old man” vibe? I am an older, grayed, gay man and I’d like any honest thoughts. Be rough if you have to, I can take it!

I bought the car almost a year ago, and have been doing some maintenance and upgrading since. I try to do as much as I can myself, and it's a good job there are so many forums and YouTube videos out there. I am most proud of swapping the original radio for a Carplay-ready head unit, plus installing a reverse camera (the cablework was a bitch!).

It is my first car and I absolutely love it.

I’ve had my G580 for a month now, and it’s quickly become my favorite car. It’s the first car I’ve owned from any brand that came with absolutely no squeaks or rattles, it drives far better than something this big and heavy has any right to, and I still love the ridiculous (iconic?) design.

Yes, it’s impractical even by EV standards, and the range isn’t particularly impressive compared with other current EVs. But I took it up into the mountains for the first time yesterday and didn’t care about either of those things. It is just a really enjoyable car to drive.

I still think it lacks some of the personality my 2018 G550 had. I miss a little of the old G’s mechanical character and comically poor handling. But this thing is comfortable, absurd, unbothered by rough roads, and genuinely fun.

This is a before pic as I'm about swap over to a Weber carb setup and delete all but 1 vac line (there's a chance I'll clean the oil probably not though) and remove that stupid air intake but for a clean 2.5inch rectangle air filter. Someone might like this little shitter

Traded in my 2024 Tacoma for a 2026 Subaru Uncharted GT. My first EV. I loved my Tacoma sooo much but couldn’t keep up with the fuel payment.

Spent the weekend there looking at what’s currently in the market. Unfortunately, it’s mostly Chinese cars but there are still some interesting cars. Absolutely fell in love with the Defender Trophy.
