Google TV Streamer Issues With Apps

Hello,

I am experiencing a serious issue with my Google TV Streamer after a recent software update.

Device:
Google TV Streamer 4K
Android TV OS 14
Build: UTTK.260317.003
Security patch: April 1, 2026

Problem:
Most streaming apps fail immediately when opened. The issue started after a software update.
Affected apps:
Netflix: Error (-100) immediately on launch
Disney+: General error immediately on launch
NPO Start: Error 35000 (configuration error)
Multiple other streaming apps show similar behavior

Apps that still work:
YouTube
Google Play Store
App downloads and updates

Troubleshooting already completed:
Installed the latest system update
Restarted the device multiple times
Performed a full factory reset
Reinstalled affected apps
Tested on my home network and on a mobile hotspot
Verified Widevine DRM status = L1
Confirmed date/time settings are correct
All apps are fully up to date

Because the issue persists after a factory reset and also occurs on a mobile hotspot, it does not appear to be related to my network or internet provider.

can someone please investigate whether this may be related to build UTTK.260317.003 or a known firmware/certification issue affecting streaming applications?

Thanks

Google TV should not serve me online betting ads on my home tv screen.

Kalshi is an online betting platform. I feel this is deeply harmful advertising and I am not okay with it. Google, do better.

I have swapped to using App Only mode under Accounts and Profile settings.

Google TV Streamer 4K with a dumb TV

I am helping an elder family member who has just moved into a care home. The home is 8 years old and for whatever reason the planners decided to put 'dumb' flat screen TVs in the rooms. There is scope to attach media devices somehow, though so far I can't see the back of the TV to see what ports it has, though feeling as much as I can I think it has HDMI.

Looking at the Google TV Streamer 4K online it says that it connects with HDMI. I see the streamer unit also seems to have an Ethernet port. Can I connect the streamer to the home's internet network with Ethernet cable rather than WiFi, and then to the TV with HDMI?

I'm a bit worried about my family member's ability to control the TV from the streamer remote. It says it has voice control, do you have to use that or can you also select items to view using buttons? There are not many buttons! She is used to a Samsung smart TV at home, so wondering how she will find the transition.

2 new RockTek announced - The G2s & the G2 Next (S905X5M, 32 or 64GB storage, etc)

RockTek will launch 2 new set-top boxes, the G2s and the G2 Next.

The only differences between the 2 are:

  • 4GB RAM for the G2 Next / 2GB RAM for the G2s
  • 64GB storage for the G2 Next / 32GB for the G2s

What they have in common:

  • OEM is SEI Robotics
  • Google TV 5.0 (14)
  • Amlogic S905X5M-J
  • Wi-Fi 6
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Dolby Vision / Dolby Atmos / HDR10/10+

The G2 Next will be a twin to the BuzzTV G-Series it seems.

My streaming apps have disappeared

For some unknown reason, my apps have disappeared. My Netflix, prime, Disney+ & onstream have disappeared. Except plex and YouTube. And now there is a Green F on the bottom right of my screen is there and won't go away.

I tried googling but no success.

My Phillips remote has a Netflix and prime button built in. When I pushed it nothing came up. I manually searched the apps in the store. Instead of download it said "enable" so it makes me think the apps have been disabled. So I then enabled it.... And the buttons on the remote work, however the apps DON'T show up on the main screen which is so so so so annoying.

Anyone know what's going on?

Remote not working - i'm not Aline!

My remote doesn't always work. I thought it was the battery, but through my 3rd set I figured it was something else. Tried repositioning etc nothing worked. Then I read this article: Problemen met je Chromecast? Het ligt aan je afstandsbediening https://share.google/sjjWPhRIodrB12R7J where it became obvious I'm not alone.

Any ideas/bugfix coming?

Dolby vision disabled/greyed out on legit Xiaomi Box s 3 when connected to TV that supports it.

TV: Sharp 55GK4145K 4K Ultra HD 60Hz Frameless 55"

HDMI Cable: 8K HDMI V2.1 Cable 8K@60Hz, 4K@120Hz

First of all, the box was bought from the official store and I have triple checked, 99.99% sure it is not a fake.

TV absolutely supports Dolby vision and the strangest thing is I don't believe it supports HDR10+ (though it might just isn't listed anywhere on information about the TV)

I've already dug around, my best guess was the TV is a bit cheap and doesn't want to play nice with the box and accept DV through connected devices. Can't find anyone else having this issue though so just want to double check I'm not missing anything obvious.

Edit: SOLVED! needed to change the HDMI EDID version to 1.4 for dolby vision and only dolby vision. Have to change it back for regular hdr but its only a few clicks.

Allow usb debugging notification

Does anyone know how to prevent this notification from showing up in the Google 4k streamer?

If I turn off usb debugging in the developer options, it prevents me from using the app killer from TDUK.

Is there any other way to prevent this from showing up?

Thanks in advance.

How to increase RAM of my Android TV?

Most of the current android tv come with 2 GB RAM, which is terrible in this era. I mean, the phones are now coming with 16GB RAM what's the issue with Android TVs?? Also, they are poorly optimized.

I guess, I don't need a super good DDR5 RAM, I just want a decent RAM even 4 GB or 6GB even from old phones will be super smooth. Please don't tell me to use Apple TV. The point I'm making will be worthless. I don't want to open the TV internal parts, there's a room for internal storage expansion but not RAM.

Why does linking Google Home to Google TV take "up to 3 days"?

Question in the title. This seems like a trivial thing to do since GTV already has your Google userid and credentials. Why does it take 3 days?

Google 4K Streamer vs a 2026 Samsung Smart TV

Curious about whether the Google 4K Streamer is the better option vs built in Smart TV apps.

Both apps upscale which do you think is better overall.

Thomson 270 (UK) set up, now TV(LG) won't power on or off

I'm in the UK and just got the Thomson 270. Set it up, all good. Now my TV won't turn on or off via the LG or universal remotes I have, I can turn it on and off via the LG ThinQ app thankfully. I have played about with all the HDMI-CEC settings and nothing seems to have worked. I can't turn off HDMI-CEC on the TV because then my Sonos soundbar won't work.

Has anyone else had this issue?
