Xiaomi TV box S 3d gen third party remote

I got a xiaomi box 3d gen and it works amazingly but honestly the remote sucks

I need something that has mute aswell as play/pause

Is there a cheap remote that's just plug and play and works? (like just pair it via Bluetooth or the "remote" section in settings and be done)

I saw people mention the ugoos ur02 or the g20s pro, but they also keep talking about IR and remapping with receivers which 1 I don't have 2 I wouldn't get anyway

Do these just work after they're paired? , maybe set that process to no battery save in android settings?

Me myself I'm skilled with tech I'm more worried about if it breaks while my dad's using it

Trying to cast websites to my Google TV but all it ever does is load and show the cast symbol

Does anyone know how to fix when casting websites with video nothing ever pops up after loading (mostly anime sites)

Guys… HELP! Sound not working.

I just put my Google TV in a new tv and ever since this has been happening. The sound will cut out and then when I raise the volume headphones appear. I thought it was connecting to Bluetooth headphones but that is not true. I have tried everything and have no idea why it’s doing this. Does anyone have this issue or know how to fix?

What are the real advantages of a Google TV Streamer?

Hi all!

So I'm still rocking my Chromecast 2nd Gen in the year of our Lord 2026, but I've had my eye on the Google TV Streamer for a while now. However, I haven't been able to justify spending the money on it as the Chromecast still does its job really well most of the time. Sure, there's times when it takes a while to connect and here or there, there's a streaming service that gets a little buggy, but nothing that's created enough friction or frustration to make me go "Enough is enough!".

So after looking at multiple reviews and browsing Reddit for a while, I figured I'd just ask the community here: what are some real life advantages of the Streamer? Is it really a big quality of life improvement over the old trusty Chromecast or am I just blinded by the shiny new thing?

Notes: both me and my partner are locked in the Apple ecosystem for the most part. Price point of the Streamer isn't really an issue.

google TV problem

Hi.
I have a problem with my 55C655 Pro, which freezes after a long period of inactivity after turning it off. If it is in sleep mode (not completely off, when it has to boot up after turning it on), I turn it off in the evening and in the morning when I try to turn it on, the TV freezes and the applications do not want to start. Home button work and homepage but thats it. Some programs are probably still running in the background or blocking the RAM, so other programs cannot load. Is this a known bug or is it only my TV that has this problem?
Has anyone encountered this or knows a solution?

Thanks a lot

Onn 4K Pro gets stuck in Dolby Vision (or with no DV), even on the home screen and menus.

I don’t think I’ve always had this issue, but for months now with my Bravia 7 TV if I launch an app like HBO Max, it won’t be in DV even when it’s content labeled as DV. So I change the “Match content dynamic range” to off or on, I actually think it’s just whatever it isn’t currently set to, and then DV will work in the app. But then when I’m done with the app, my TV is stuck in DV no matter where I go. So then I have to toggle that match content dynamic range setting again.

I’ve tried fiddling with various display settings and I can’t get it to just switch to DV when it should, and switch back to SDR when I’m not playing DV content, especially in the menus and home screen.

Does anyone know how to fix this, or if there’s even a fix at all?

How to Make My Google TV NOT Say "Screensaver Settings" While Showing My Photo Slideshow in Ambient Mode?

On the latest Google TV update, the Ambient Mode Google Photo Slideshow settings has moved from my Google Home app and right onto the tv screen. Seems easy enough, however now as the photo album scrolls, the bottom of my tv screen says "Screensaver settings" continuously as the photos scroll, and I can't find a way to make those words go away. It's very distracting for me and I'd love to turn it off. This bothering anyone else, and if so, have any of you figured out how to do make that text go away? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have tizen os on my tv and i can download very less apps from the store. I am looking for a cheap tv stick. I am not interested only in amazon or mi stick so any tv stick is ok for me as far as it works well and has good ram.

So do all of our side loaded apps get automatically uninstalled next month?

With the developer changes coming, will our current apps be uninstalled? Should we back up everything?

Multiple apps intermittently crashing to home screen on TWO different Google TV devices

I've been having an intermittent problem with apps crashing on my Google TV for several weeks now.

Originally I thought my TCL Android TV 12 was faulty, but I've now discovered that a completely separate 4K Google TV box connected to another TV in the house has exactly the same problem.

Apps affected so far:

YouTube: crashes to home screen

SmartTube: crashes to home screen, often during playback

Spotify: crashes, sometimes immediately after opening

TCL Channel: crashes

Apps that seem to work normally:

NPO Start

Rakuten TV

Kodi

There is no error message or black screen. The app simply disappears and I'm instantly back at the Google TV home screen.

On the TCL I've tried force stopping apps, clearing caches, restarting, and installing the latest available system update. It has about 18 GB of free storage. Completely unplugging the TV has temporarily fixed the problem before, but it eventually comes back.

The crashes happen occasionally rather than constantly. Sometimes everything works normally for days.

The interesting part is that my separate 4K Google TV box has now shown the same behavior. Both devices are on the same home network.

Has anyone else experienced this on multiple Google TV / Android TV devices?

I'm wondering about Google Play Services, another shared Android component, or possibly something network related. I'm particularly interested in reports from people who have seen the same thing on different hardware.

VPN that automatically connects on Google TV / onn. 4K?

I’m setting up an onn. 4K Google TV and want to use a VPN with it, mainly for sideloading.

I currently have Proton VPN, but I’m wondering how reliable the auto-connect feature is on Google TV. Ideally, I want the VPN to automatically connect whenever the Google TV boots/restarts without me having to manually open the VPN app every time.

What’s the best setup?
Is Proton VPN’s Android TV app capable of automatically connecting at startup?
Is there another VPN that does this more reliably?
Would using Android TV’s built-in Always-on VPN be better?

Or should I configure the VPN directly on my router so the entire Google TV connection is always routed through the VPN?
I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone using an onn. 4K / Google TV + Stremio setup. I’m trying to make it as hands-off and reliable as possible.

I wish that Google would spin off Google TV app and Google home app into its own apps on Google TV OS.

With more people opting for third party launchers on their Google TV sticks and boxes, the Google TV launcher is not being used and when it is disabled, users lose access to rent movies and TV shows from Google TV app directly on the TV box and lose access to Google home smart controls directly on the TV box. If these two things were not tied to the Google TV launcher, Google would find even more people using those services

Cheap knockoff CCwGTV remote specifically won't IR control old Yamaha amp's volume

The original Google CCwGTV remote's side buttons controlled the amp's volume fine using IR (it does not have HDMI). Set up once years ago.

Lost it and bought a replacement cheap copy remote from Amazon, it looks exactly like the original. Set up fine. I have cleared and re-run through setup, selecting the IR devices from scratch.

- volume and mute buttons will control the TV's volume ok

- power button will control the amp ok

- volume and mute buttons will not control the amp's volume on any of the 5 codes

- volume buttons are emitting some IR signal as it can be seen using a phone's camera

Any suggestions?

How is this even possible? The volume buttons do emit IR, and in the case of the TV it is the correct IR, and the Yamaha amp's code for 'power' works, and the Yamaha code for volume used to work when set up years ago on the original remote.

Have Google removed older code sets?

Can this cheap knockoff remote somehow not emit just some codes properly? (but still emit something as I can see it on a camera)

Sidstuga 2.1.4 — multiview, Stalker/MAG portals, NAS recording, and no more limit on playlist size

I've just released Sidstuga 2.1.4, with 368 commits since the last public build.

The biggest change - and probably the one people here will care about most - is a complete rewrite of how channels are stored.

Until now, the entire channel catalogue lived in memory, which meant playlist size was always limited by RAM. That worked... until it didn't.

Channels now live in SQLite. They're loaded on demand as you browse, instead of everything being kept in memory.

The result:

✅ One user has 13 playlists (~3.5 million channels total) and can now browse them.

✅ Playlists with 250k+ entries that previously crashed or never finished loading now open normally.

✅ TV Guide and Movies/Series load much faster on large accounts.

Other changes in 2.1.4:

📺 Multiview (TV & Android)

📡 Stalker/MAG portals as a source (including Movies & Series)

💬 Live TV subtitles

💾 Record directly to your NAS (SMB)

👥 Device limit increased from 3 → 5

⭐ My List, Continue Watching, reminders and ratings are now included in backups

🛠️ Lots of stability and performance fixes across TV and phone

If you use very large IPTV playlists, this is probably the biggest update Sidstuga has had.

Install: https://sidstuga.app/install/

/r sidstuga

Happy to answer any questions about the SQLite migration or why the old architecture hit its limits.

64-bit app compatibility for Google TV and Android TV

New apps and app updates for TV started to be 64-bit compliant since august 1st. This is mandatory.

This means Android 16 64-bit for TV is around the corner and the Homatics Box 4K Plus V3 and the Homatics Box 4K Pro seem to be the only announced boxes that may ship with the 64-bit build.

However, the Nvidia Shield devices are the only ones so far that benefit from this because they have been using a "custom" 64-bit build since the beginning.

What do you think about this?

WTF is up with Google TV ads?

Some of these commercials are so bad it almost makes me want to switch back to Roku! (Kidding ... nothing would make me go back!)

Maybe because I live in New Mexico, but I just watched 4 GECU commercials back to back in one ad break, and all 4 were in Spanish. They do the same thing with Allstate ads, but those are in English ... are they short of advertisers?

TCL Googletv Annoyance

When I’m watching Netflx and I pause it for a while to do stuff around the house, when I come back to it ten or 15min later, Googletv has a screensaver. When you back out of the screensaver, Googletv has exited Netflix. You have to then visit five new screens to get back to your show. Soooooo annoying!!!

Google TV Streamer 4K and Atmos when connected to AV Receiver

I bought a brand new Google TV Streamer 4K connected to a Marantz Cinema 50.caoable of both DD and DTS and Atmos.

I only have connected 5.1 speakers.

By default the streamer has Audio Options - Output Format set to Auto, but I get the following kn my trceiver

- a - if movie is Atmos, under movie sound on my receiver I get only Atmos or Stereo

- b - if movie is DD or DD+ I get only Dolby Surround or Multichannel Stereo

Why?

I have read I should enable audio passthrough but it seems this is not possible, so somewhere else it is suggested to select DD+ under Output Format.

Now under both cases -a- and -b- above I get DD+ so in case -a- I don't get Atmos any longer.
