Honey gourami question

Should I get one honey gourami for my tank and see the gender and then look around for other 2 to make 1 male 2 females? The only place I trust online doesn't sex their gouramis and I really want a 1M2F trio.

I have had some people tell me it depends on the personality of the fish but I prefer being safe than sorry!

I have 9 (soon 14) boraras merah, 7 gastrodermus nanus, 3 amano shrimp and multiple snails and neocaridinas. It's a heavily planted 105L tank, rn the temp is going up but I'm trying to keep them under 28ºC and in winter the heater is at 25ºC

Feeding frenzy

My girls go absolutely crazy when it's feeding time.
I'm really happy with how this scape has turned out. It all started with just a few narrow leaf Sagittaria plants in the background of a dirted tank capped with gravel. Fast forward a few months, and the Sagittaria has completely taken over in the best way possible, giving the tank a lush, jungle-like look.
I also came across a few empty Giant African Snail shells. After boiling and disinfecting them thoroughly, I added them to the tank as a focal point. I think they fit in nicely and add a bit of character without looking out of place.

Some advice on how many honey gourami to get?

For context I have a 105L tank heavily planted with 12 boraras merah, 7 gastrodermus nanus, 3 amano shrimp and more than 15 neocaridinas. It's an almost 4 month old tank, rn it's at 27ºC because its summer but the normal temp is 25ºC and it has around 7.4 pH.

I wanted to get 3 honey gouramis, 1 male and 2 females, but the provider I normally buy from say they don't sex their gouramis and I would not be able to return them if I get 2 males.
Should I get just one? Or try a local store I know of? I'm scared of buying in the LFS even though they know a lot because I started my tank with plants from there and they had leeches and (even though I figure it's normal for a store with lots of fish), I always see 1 or 2 fish dead in the tanks there (out of thousands but it still makes me nervous).
What would you all do? Just 1 honey gourami? Or try my luck at my LFS? (I should ask them if they would let me bring the fish back if more than 1 are males if that's the case)

Our new guy, Oliver!

We absolutely love his personality. He made himself right at home today in this very mature cycled 10g. He has snails and shrimp as tank mates. There's also a khuli loach somewhere in there 😅

Am I feeding my Honey enough?

Sorry for the burry top angle pic, I couldn’t get the camera to focus. I feed Willie 8-10 Hikari micropellets in the morning (nothing in the evening). I used to feed him the same in the evening but stopped recently when my life got busier and I couldn’t stay on top of it. I’m wondering if he looks to be a healthy size and if my feeding routine is okay. Thanks in advance.

I am once again asking for your help… $900 budget, go!

So, I’m both flooded & paralyzed with ideas & opportunities for what to do with this 4x3x3 ( I believe ) centerpiece aquarium that came with the house my boyfriend had recently bought before we met. Now, what do I do with it? (Kitty for cuteness & size). I have $900 left of my budget.

I’ll link my old post, but essentially we’re in the process of setting this aquarium up as a freshwater tank in an old saltwater setup. It’ll be difficult to maintenance, as you can imagine. Thankfully I’m a small person & can get inside, but that’s when I have everything ready to go.

Please y’all, from a former nano aquarium enthusiast I need scaping ideas & livestock recommendations.

I’d love gourami of any size, angelfish & rainbow fish I’ve seen together on a large scale & it looks quite beautiful. (My favorite fish are sparkling gourami, pea puffers, dwarf gourami, scarlet badis, & kuhli loaches, but I need to stock this tank to its size & to appease a 10 & 12 yo boy & girl.)

We added play sand today & have pea gravel & larger cobble stones to work with so far. I’d like a big piece of spider wood or anything dark & structurally intriguing like a stump I find outside even. I’m not sure how strong the outflow is but from what I remember it was decently strong & coming from the back top left.

Lighting is another issue. It has ancient tech with two uv & a white bulb. I don’t know what will penetrate deep enough to grow plants? Am I stuck to epiphytes & potentially some pots with crypts or val? Pearl weed? Thank you my friends. I have $900 left, what do I do?

I will have to watch the temperature of the water too as I’m not sure if it’ll stay warm or what!!

Why’s my powder blue gourami so bloated??

Idk what happened it started a couple days ago. He’s just getting bigger and bigger and it seems like he’s having a hard time swimming and breathing.

I posted I think last month about a fuzzy patch he had on the side of his body and everyone said it looked like gourami disease. Well it went away and he got better and now he blew up like a ballon.

How can I fix this? Is it possible to? I feel so bad for him.
He didn’t eat this morning when I fed them and yesterday was a no feed day. All my other fish seem fine.

Stocking question for 15 gallon fluval flex tank

I have a 15 gallon fluval flex tank with aquasoil/sand substrate and live plants. I set up this tank for a betta, but after losing 3 in the past 1.5 years due to poor genetics, I’m feeling too heartbroken to replace with another betta.

In researching other fish, I discovered honey gouramis (T. Chuna specifically) and think they’d be a good fit. But I’m having trouble getting a consensus on how many would be ok for my tank.

If it’s relevant, I have sponge in one of the back sections and rocks in the other. I’ve never had an issue with nitrates between 1 fish and all the plants, but my new plan would obviously have a larger bioload.

Ideally I was imagining a trio (1 male, 2 females) with maybe 6-7 Pygmy corydoras. Since I’m used to stocking my tank with literally 1 betta, I’m not familiar with how many fish can comfortably be in a tank this size.

Would I be better off just getting 1 honey gourami? I’ve read that males are ok on their own, but I’ve also read that they are shy and prefer to have a couple companions to feel fully comfortable and happy.

A note on the photo: the plants are more dense than when I took this picture, but this is the best photo I have to give an idea of my setup.

Any advice about honey gouramis in general would be greatly appreciated! I miss my bettas so much and I just want to be a good caretaker for whatever my new fish end up being.

(Sort of) jackpot!

I've been wanting a wild-type gourami for soo long lol. Finally found a wild thick lip! He's currently in an isolation net in my 10gal, he'll have a mini pond to himself once that finishes cycling

Worrying Honey behaviour :(

Hi everyone, beginner here looking for some assistance. Does anyone recognise this behaviour? I only noticed it this evening, she is looking quite thin as well from my untrained eye. Looks like a parasite of some kind to me, really hoping it isn't contagious as I don't have a quarantine tank.

Unfortunately I do not have any test kits at home, however my other honey, nanofish (psuedomugil luminatas) and shrimp all seem to be healthy. The tank is cycled and everything has been running smoothly for a few months.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Can I keep a thick lipped gourami in a 15gallon?

So I have a 15g and I want a centerpiece fish so first I thought honey gourami but they only sell the dwarf gourami or the thick lipped gourami. My water parameters GH20,KH15,ph8 I’ve had this tank for 6 months now so can I keep a thick lipped gourami in my tank?

Are these true honey gourami? Are they male or female? they are both very calm and don't chase my other fish so far.

Some help please.

My 2 honey gouramis are fighting. It's making me really stressed, and feeling bad for the poor vicitm gourami. He now hides in the corner behind my pothos roots.
Any tips?

Not even a full week in the tank and he's redecorating like he owns the place. His name is Chuck and I think he's a bit of a bastard (positively).

The Pygmy's are also displeased their moss hang out spots have been ransacked.
